Shipped my Road Glide seat off to Rick Butler this morning. I have put some miles on it and was pleasantly surprised with it for a stock seat. I've done a Saddle Sore and a Bun Burner on it so I know that I can do a thousand mile day on it with no major problems. There is still room for improvement though so I figured that with the snow on the ground, it was a great time to let him work his magic.

One old man on a 2007 FJR. Left Houston at 02:50, Saturday morning. South on the beltway to IH10 west. Sun rise as I was leaving the west side of San Antonio. Boerne, Comfort, Kerrville, Junction, Sonora, Ozona, Ft. Stockton, Balmorhea, turn around and head back. Arrived home at 20:30 just as the sun was setting. 1115 miles, 17hrs 40min. Odometer reading was 47 miles higher than GPS. Bike ran great. You can really haul butt in west texas where the posted speed limit is 80mph. Hot (upper 90s) and dry in the desert. Corbin seat and Heli bar pull backs did their jobs. No sore body parts. Hydration using Camalbak 100oz insulated carrier. 50/50 water and Propel Zero. Drank a full 200 ozs (6 liters) and only stopped to pee once. Thought I would be pretty sore the next day but surprisingly not so much. Hands were a bit tired and sore but that was it. Need to replace my worn out gloves. I am pretty much ATGATT. I was trying out a new base layer from Cycle Gear called Heat Out. It is similar to the LD Comfort riding stuff but only about 20-30 bucks. Fits like a second skin and helps wick away perspiration and provides cooling. It works. I like it. Durability remains to be proven. Zipcode Dave was tracking me with a ham radio APRS program that worked pretty well. I will let him comment on that. It was a good ride. Next...

Well, myself and 4 others are going to do the Saddle Sore 1000 this weekend. Leave out of Saline Michigan Saturday morning, head to Kingston Pike Tenn. for some dinner and head back. It will be about 1035 miles according to Google maps. Gonna be a looooooong day.

For those that wear earplugs, I've been wearing these now for the past couple of months and really like them better than anything else I've tried. They're not as dense as the typical yellow foam earplugs and after riding all day my ear canals aren't sore. I can hear the intercom very well without all the engine/road/wind noise. I found them near the pharmacy in Wal-mart.

Hey All, Man do I enjoy all the Great People on this site. I had a Great Time at Freebirds Maintance Day, getting to meet and talk with everyone. Wish I could have stayed an extra day, but as fantastic and smooth as the RSV is, I was terribly sore from the 300+ miles each way, and had to double my pain medication when I arrived home and hurt for the next two days. Previously I have never been sore from riding the RSV any distance, so my long rides may be limited. The RSV is by far the Best Bike I have ever owned, way better than the new addition. For several months I have been tinkering with selling my Baby, the Beautiful Raspberry & Sandstone 03 RSV. It really, really shocked me when the Wife said "we can keep the RSV and use it for long two up riding", considering we just bought another bike, it even made my day. But in reality, because of my Injuries I cannot handle the weight two up, solo yes and struggle a little, but not two up. So with full regret I have listed the 03 RSV in the Classifieds. I hope you all will keep me on, as I will still have the VentureRiders.org Patch on my Vest, no matter what I ride. Talk to you Later-Red Ryder

Hobbling around on my bad leg sometimes it don't come down right and causes me to be a little less stable than I used to be. Anyway going down some steps couple days ago and came down on it wrong. Jerked other foot backwards to catch myself and busted the pad on the bottom of my heel. The callus or whatever it is. Sure does make for a sore GOOD foot. I can walk if I walk on the heel of my bad one and the toes of my good one. I wobble but I ain't fell down. YET. I can't walk but I can ride if the weather would let me!!:crying: This probally don't make much sense but I got TWO sore feet now!!

I just completed the TVA Fire Academy last week, and when I got home, my defenses were down. I had been home about 2 hours Friday, when the flu hit me hard. Everyone seems to think it was the H1N1, but not positive. I was shivering like crazy, and my temp kept trying to hang around 103 degrees F. I had a bad headache, swollen glands in my neck, sore throat, and overall weakness. I didn't freak out. I drank LOTS of cold water, used ice packs, and took lots of Ibuprofen....and I waited it out. After the third time of sweating it out, the fever went away, and hasn't returned. I still have a bit of a sore throat and headache, but I think they will pass with time also. The important thing is...I kept my butt at home, and didn't go out spreading it around. What a way to spend my Labor Day weekend. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I am 6/2 and 260.The seat on my 07 rsv kept inching me to the front and the padding is too soft for a fat boy.Talked to Mark at Diamond seat and he said this is a common complaint among large riders with this bike.Using this info. and my weight and inseam he made me a seat. The seat is smooth with stiching only around the sides.Made from heavy naugahide and said to outlast leather and looks great.I promise this is not a comercial for them but the seat is great.Made all the difference in the world .No more sore butt.I did not like the feel of this bike at all untill the seat change.I wanted to share this so if someone is having this problem there is a fix. curtis

When I bought my Venture, I sold my 20 yr old son my beautiful '82 Suzuki GS850L that I had driven for years. Tonight, some idiot runs him off the road by driving in the wrong lane. He high sided in the ditch, and rolled it several times. He is ok, other than a few scrapes and bruises. The bike is junk. It was only about a mile from home, and I was able to ride it home after straightening a few things out. We are all telling him just how lucky he is to be alive, as it often turns out much worse. Gonna be sore the next few days. I'm just glad he's still here. Bad thing is, he's going thru a rough divorce right now, and isn't taking it well. This was his only form of transportation, and it was kind of his way of getting away from it all...now he doesn't even have that. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/DJBikes.jpg

Just came back from a four State mini-tour. Took in Black Mtn. Ky, Pigeon Forge area, Deals Gap, Blue Ridge Parkway and places I will probably never find again. My reason for this thread is that by the forth day of riding, My butt was killing me (did ok first 3 days)...If it hadn't been for Advil, I probably would have stayed in a motel for a day to recover !!! I had a sheepskin over my seat, but am looking for more padding, if that will help. Tried an Air-Hawk once and it set me up higher and felt wobbly (didn't care for it).. Anyone ever used a Butt-Buffer or Gel pad with any satisfaction ??? Or any other advice on being able to log more miles before the sore butt syndrome kicks in. Heck, I'm still sore and have been home for two days !!!

Does anyone have one of these on their bike? I have a Corbin seat, but sometimes the butt gets real sore on those long days. I am considering buying a sheepskin seat cover.

Hey all, got CCOerika liking the 2up thing. She now schedules rides and tells me in the morning unexpectedly. No cryin' here, I am all for it. Well, since this is happening more often and we are going a bit further, the bums are getting a little sore. An hour an half and it is time to get off and rub em off. I need some help on what I can do and who y'all recommend to do it. I had my seat and backrest re-covered a while back and like it and do not want to change that. The padding under it is original and has had more than it's share of weather on/in it. I had to have the covers redone because they melted and parts were staying on the pants. Help keep the bums lasting longer!
