We bought this rusty old engine in September, and have been puttsin' with it ever since. It's a 1920 vintage IHC model M, 1-1/2 hp at 650 rpms. Just got it running a little over a week ago. This engine had a very worn egg shaped bore when I got her. Had a new sleeve tube machined and fitted to the IHC sleeve and then fitted to the old piston with new rings. Engine was very stiff, so I used my Fairbanks Morse ZD to turn it for a while before trying to light the M. [ame= ] [/ame] Had a few other issues to work though along the way, but here it is running on the magneto even. [ame= ] [/ame] I wonder how long it will take for everyone else living here to get tired of me starting it up every day?

I don't know how I managed to do it but the large sleeve my canopy goes into disappeared. I did not realize this until I was packing everything up. I even checked the two large trashbags and did not see it. So, if anyone has any idea where the sleeve went, please let me know as I borrowed it from my son. Thanks, RandyA

I removed my tank and when I pulled the gas line off - the brass sleeve going into the the shutoff came out instead of the tube coming off the sleeve. Can I just push it back into the shutoff valve or do I need to do some repair here? HELP!! It is such a nice day and my day off so I want to ride!!

How do you remove the stock grips? I what to install the Kuryaken ISO but wanted to know how the old grips come off? Is there a thottle sleeve under the throttle grip? Thanks
-
I really like the Kuryakyn iso grips, and I am wondering: Is there a set of grips that will work for the first gen venture? I notice some of them come with a throttle sleeve installed, which would be nice rather than fighting one on the old sleeve. TIA.

When I removed the front and rear wheel bearings I used a blind hole pilot puller from Harbor Freight. It is a Pittsburg brand. Normal price is $40.00 I got it on sale for $30.00. You put the collet through the bearing and tighten with a set of wrenches. The collet spreads and grabs under the bearing. On wheels with spacers Tightening securely will force the fingers between the spacer and bearing. Then you use the slide hammer attachment. It could use a heavier weight but it works well. Stop and retighten the collet several times. The other pictures show the front right spacer, the drive hub, the needle bearing sleeve and then the sleeve installed. Also the bearing spacer tube and the rear right spacer. Note: the small raised ridge goes against the bearing. Also shown is the speedo drive tang and its spacer/ring. JB

I could not attach pictures to your message, so I will try here. I took a piece of steel tubing that was the same inside diameter as the steel wheel and used the outside diameter to determine the hole size needed in the stand foot. I put the sleeve in and welded is so it is still as strong as before. I placed it so the wheel is about 1/8th inch lower than the bottom of the foot. I then used a grade 8 bolt thru the sleeve and wheel. I can take two fingers and with minimal pressure on the side of the trunk, I can spin the bike around on smooth concrete. RandyA
