The royal star is in the shop getting a new rear tire so I rode my daughter's not often driven 750 Vulcan to work today. I was driving through our little town just minding my own, thinking to myself just how much fun this bike is to ride, when the car in front of me decided to turn left into a convenience store. Its a good thing I slowed from 35 to about 20 mph to let him complete his turn. Just as he made his turn into the store a chevy blazer pulled out turning directly in front of me. I made a good sized dent in their passenger side door. In the process I pushed the bars way forward and hit the tank with my chest. There's a good sized dent there now too. The bike went down an I was knocked a few feet away, landing on my shoulder. Nothing's broken on me or the bike, just dented a little. He got the ticket and I got some ibuprofen. Both the bike an I should be ok in a day or two. My daughter is happy I didn't break the bike. So, I guess I owe the kitty some money, what's the going price?

I'm currently on a road trip from New Mexico to wahoo NE. and when I last stopped for gas I noticed a plate sized circle of fluid on the ground jusy below the raditor at first I thought oh no a radiator leak but after looking closer found out it was fuel couldn't find any leaks so I continued on to my final stop after I arrived and said hello to family I went to move the bike to a better location and there was the plate sized circle of fuel. This morning took off the lower fairing and found that fuel had come out of both hoses by the air filters. is this something I should be concerned about or do I have a major problem. I want to get this taken care of before I head back next week.

http://www.msgroup.org/articles.aspx this is really interesting. it's by a guy named James R Davis, who is an "expert witness" in regards to motorcycle safety. all the articles are bite sized, but some of the ideas take longer to digest. all in all very interesting, though, i thought i'd share!

I have an old Sanyo am/fm cd system in my garage and the speaker connections are about shot. What im looking for are 4 electrical connections (female pin type) to repair the ends of the speaker wires. The male pins located in the back of the box are about the thickness of a meduim sized paper clip. I tried radio shack but they dont carry them. So, if anyone has these type pins or can direct me to a source I would appreciate it.

After changing the engine oil to Rotella 15w-40, I still had the clutch slip a few times in 5th gear on hard acceleration at 4-5k rpm during my 120 mile commute to work to today. I see a lot of posts referring to replacing the springs for only $10, but I checked both BikeBandit and Chapparal and they both listed them for $7.97/ea. Since there are 6 of them, that would be around $48 total plus shipping and I still have to locate a new clutch cover gasket too. Any ideas or suppliers? Will a proper sized washer placed behind each spring upon reassembly accomplish the same thing? I haven't taken it apart yet to see if they are out of spec, but I'd like to be prepared to do the job once and not leave my bike unusable for a week waiting for parts.

Really bad super cell thunderstorms moved through the northern part of Ga. last nite, no confirmed tornados reported as yet, have some wind damage in some areas, plenty of pea sized to baseball sized hail everywhere, but we dodged the bullet, got pretty nasty here with wind, lightning, small hail, but we are good, will see how the rest of town faired on my way to work.......hope everyone else made it through ok. Some areas got hammered real good with very large hail, bet the insurance adjusters are going to be super busy for a while.

It used to be that when I clicked on it, it popped up a new, appropriately sized window. Now it opens in another tab, and is not appropriately sized. I haven't changed any settings that I know of. Can it be restored?

Would someone please tell me what size this bolt is? I know it's bigger than 15mm. I need to get the right sized socket. Thanks in advance. Couldn't find the info in the manual.

Has anyone changed their speakers? I am sure a lot of you have. I am thinking of replacing the speakers with decent 2 way speakers for better highs and midrange. Damn, no place for a sub! Has anyone ever added an amplifier? I am thinking of a small sized 100 watt amp (4 x 25). Is there a decent quality small compact sized amp that can be used on the Venture? Would it be relatively easy to hook up? Looking forward to your replies. Greg
