I completed part of my ride of the Tour of Honor to visit 7 memorial sites around Texas. I signed up for this ride back in Dec. The sites became available April 1st. Dave Zipcode and I attempted back on April 6th when he had his rear tire go flat on the way to the first site in Fredericksburg. Then he went down with his wife a week ago. Sure missed having him ride along, but glad he and Jamie are ok. I was planning to complete the ride of visiting all 7 sites in an Iron Butt Saddlesore 2000 in under 48hrs. The ride was good, turned Hot in North Texas, great weather, finished the required 4 sites in 1000 miles under the 24hr. Grabbed one more site north of Dallas at 12:30am. Headed for home, stopped for some rest along the way. Amazing you can fall alseep on the bike lying on the tank bag. By then I was up for over 24hrs. Got home after 27hrs on the road. Decided on not going to south Texas to grab the remaining 2 memorials. Needed to get some good rest. Was about 25 miles short of being able to submit the ride as a Bunburner 1500 in 36hrs. So I went for a short ride to get me over the #. Here are some pics of the memorial sites I visited.

I have a set of Yamaha Driving Lites and would like to replace the sealed beam bulbs with Halogen or better sealed beam bulbs. I would like to keep the wattage down to 35/36 watts. I have looked at some sites and they have them but they show flood, wide flood, spot, narrow spot, etc. Which kind is the best for the driving lights. Can you please advise what type you think I should be looking for. I am basically looking for the best light possible with a straight replacement lamp and still using the Yamaha lite bar holders. I have searched the sites and have sent a private message to one of our members but I know technology changes daily and possibly someone has tried something lately that works well. Thanks Dana

The wife and I have an opening of sorts and are throwing together a trip out to California for 3 weeks (roundtrip). We have a son attending school in Berkeley and we will tow our bunkhouse "pop up" as our hotel. Time constraints and getting the businesses set are making planning difficult. Just not enough time. We are planning on leaving East Texas Friday and head??? I wanted to hit Utah and pick up an extra wife or two. I will have to play that one by ear....but seriously, I did want to head north as the weather seems to be okay at the moment. I will play that by ear. A friend in Colorado said to avoid the State as higher elevations are getting snow. I guess what I am asking in a round about way.....any suggestions, routes, sights, eateries....anything? We are more country than city and love to ride and take in sites as well as shorter hikes and nice sites. We have California mostly planned as the son has worked on it. Any info or ideas would really be appreciated! Oh, I owe Buddy a hello from our recent Ark. trip. Hard to forget that day in Paris!!!lol

When I first arrived in La. last year (2010) to "restart" my life I joined quite a few Dating Sites looking for a decent woman. I was honest in all my Profiles and included recent pics of myself and my bike. I met my current lady (Donna) by way of one of these Dating Sites last October(2010) and we have been very happy together. My question which begs an answer/help is this....Is it possible for someone to steal my Profile/pics and pose as ME on the Internet for nefarious purposes ? How do I find out who is doing this....and more importantly....how do I stop this? I should add this for clarification: Someone is posing as ME to set up meetings with random women; chatting with these women etc......and heck yes it is creating problems for me with the love of my life. Regards.....Boomer

Ya I know, we all knew that,,, but this is different. They are planning to be in S.Ontario from next Friday to Thursday morning June 2. Now we don't mind having them around,,,, at least that's what I'm supposed to say,,,,,, but some others may like to have a go at them for a day or so. So here's the proposition: Friday afternoon and evening they'll be in our care, and anyone else that shows up,,, it is the start of Marcarl's VentureIn. so we'll have supper somewhere and then BS the evening away. Saturday they is going to join in on the VentureIn, meet lots of new folks, forget all their names and be plum wore out,,, soooooo Sunday is a day of relaxing and catching up with the time,,,,, maybe. Being that they are 12 hours ahead of us, and that they have been flying for a day or so, jet lag may be an issue. ( and they ain't spring chickens anymore) Monday,,, maybe somebody would like to take them to see some sites,,, maybe Niagara Falls or maybe Toronto, or maybe Kitchener Waterloo,,,, who knows. Tuesday,, the same as Monday, only different,,,,,,, maybe different people and other sites. Wednesday a repeat of Monday and Tuesday, just don't get them bored with repeats. Thursday, they plan on heading for Don's to get maintained properly. The idea is that they would meet with more folks than just us,,, hey,, sleep overs are great as well maybe. Offer up some suggestions, let's make it interesting for them. This will need to be approved by the boss,, of course!!!

I rode from Buckley to South Prairie to Ohop Lake to Eatonville to Alder Lake State Park. Checked out a couple of camping sites then back. Put some more Seafoam and toped off the gas tank. VR ran perfect.

So i have owned 4 goldwings already. From 78 to 84. All the sites I joined relative to goldwings were very informative as here on this forum. The big difference is that I could use more specific related topics on goldwings sites. I usually log on to see what other people are talking about and to see if anyone is preforming a mod that may be interesting. I find slim to none here on this site. I guess this is due to the wonderfull nature of the beast we ride. Not many breakdown , mods, or upgrade topics. Most RS riders enjoy thier bikes as is. I have noticed seat and handle bar changes which I also plan to get done, but other than that a solid soild bike that leaves most activity in the watering hole as opposed to the repair section.

Just to let people know that are thinking of upgrading to IE 9 a lot of web sites are not compatible with it yet so I would wait a little while until they catch up before upgrading. Tom

Google, Bing, or whatever else you use has nothing on this. As you can see it directs you to some very good sites. My new personal web nav unit.... http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47a1dc09b3127ccefc2d59aa256600000030O08AZtmjJo0aOAe3nws/cC/f%3D0/ps%3D50/r%3D0/rx%3D550/ry%3D400/

Don, Moderators, and Members I want to express my extreme appreciation of this site...and it is due to the above folks. I no longer own a Venture (which I still think is a GREAT bike), but I REFUSE to leave this site...it is the ONE motorcycle site I visit several times a day. As I bought a wing a few months ago, I started looking for sites that have info regarding this bike. There are several out there, and, for the most part, are good to visit. However, these sites allow about any jerk to post...whatever they want to post. Some of these people are really out there, and I find that it really detracts from being able to enjoy the site as much as I do Venturerider.org. I know I don't have to read what they post, and normally I don't. But every once in a while (depending on the topic) I read what they post, hoping it will add something of interest...NOPE, they just want to stir the pot! Stirring the pot can be a fun thing...it is on this site...good natured ribbing of fellow members. But on the sites of which I speak, the comments are caustic...extremely so. I'm not thin skinned...28 yrs in the military ensured that...but, I cringe at some of the things a few of those members post. I know on VR.org these folks would be taken to the wood shed by Don, or the moderators, or the other members...in an effort to get them back in line. Again, thank you to all the aforementioned, for keeping this a site that is ENJOYABLE to visit (as I said, several times a day). You are a great group of people and I thank you for not showing me the door even though I no longer own the bike that brought me to this brotherhood. I will close now, before the tears start to flow (just kidding...I am not THAT moved by it all). Keep on doing what you do...it works!!!!

Has there been a host hotel(s) chosen yet for the 2011 Int rally next year? I've seen numerous posts where folks have already booked sites at the campground and at the State park but no mention of hotels for the rest of us folks. Larry

Hi Guys! I'm headed out to San Antonio, TX this coming weekend for business. Unfortunately, I can't make it a ride this time, but I will be there a couple of days early during the Forth of July weekend. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding things to see or do in the area? Good, clean fun type stuff. I hate to go someplace new, and miss out on opportunities to see cool sites, events, etc. I figure that for the Forth of July, there must be some special celebrations, fireworks, etc. going on. So far, The River Walk is in the plans, but I need some more ideas for Saturday & Sunday. Pete.

Okay. I've had a Garmin 2730 for a few years now and love it. It has XM which when working is nice to have. But another Garmin antenna has gone bad and I refuse to buy another one. The GPS also has a MP 3 player which I've never used. I think I'd like to put some songs on the MP 3 but have no idea how to go about doing this. I don't want to start paying a dollar a song to download and transfer. Are there really any free download sites that are legit and won't get me in a jam or is that a myth? Also, I've heard of people downloading music CD's to something like an Ipod. Can this also be done to this MP3?

Hey there campers, Cindi and I are heading to the Shades State Park in Indiana the weekend of Oct 16 - 18. There are a lot of sites open for that weekend if anyone from the IL/IN/MI/WI is interested. One caveat, while the sites are great, there is no electricity. There is a comfort station with a shower and flush toilets as well as numerous vault toilets that are always clean. We're going mainly for the hiking and the follow-up drinking, but for those who want to ride, there's a lot of real nice roads in the area. The covered bridge routes are available on a map in the area. Hope some of you can make it. chuck
