Need side arm mounting brackets not quick release to mount 96 to 01 sissy bar on 2005 RSTD. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey all, hope I posted this in the right place... I've got a 2 week cruise coming up in September and I ordered the stock Yamaha luggage rack for my 08 RSTD, looking to mount a sissy bar bag for some extra storage. I'm mainly looking to move the odds-n-ends I carry in my bags to the rack - you know shield cleaner, rain suit, gloves, etc... I've been looking at VikingBags, Tourmaster, Saddleman (and others) and they all have decent-looking bags, but the stock rack isn't flat - it's straight for about 6 in. then it angles up for maybe 3 in. more. So the bags with hard, flat bottoms won't sit flush on the rack. I'm wondering if a round bag such as the Tourmaster Select Sissy Bar bag would work better. And some of these bags don't seem to have much options regarding mounting. So question is: anybody got a recommendation on a good bag for mounting on an 08 RSTD stock luggage rack? Be nice if it was big enough to hold an XXL full face helmet as well as the odds-n-ends listed above, but not Wingebago size.

This is a follow up to the post I made about the wife needing a new seat and backrest, I added Ultimate seats, a DMY trunk with lighted spoiler and rack and passenger floorboards. Probably not many Royal Star Tour Classics with this set up! The white matches pretty close would like to have had matching blue but paint wasn't an issue right away. Mounted on starboard and had the short sissy bar bent at a 60 degree angle after turning it over, Thanks to Phoneman for the idea! What do ya'll think? OK guys, no laughing but a little serious help. The wife wants the backrest she sees on the grandpa bikes aka the Venture package. I am considering adding a DMY trunk with backrest which brings us a few problems, namely no rack on which to mount one. The RSTC only has a sissy bar rack that is tilted at the end and really doesn't do it for me. My idea is to get the longer sissy bar (the round one that is a stock accessory) and have it bent. Don't care if it messes up the bar as it won't show anyway, if I have to add a flat piece of stock no big deal, but I think it will make a pretty solid platform. No crap about getting the real ride as I have had this bike for 17 years and since it is virtually the same machine I don't need the intercom or the CB or the big out front fairing. I like it the way it is but gotta please the little woman, as I have kept her a tad longer than the bike. (29 yrs) I know I am asking for it...so go for it!

Hello all! I'm Steve. I have a 1997 Tour Deluxe and I need a sissy bar and luggage rack for it. Anybody have one for sale? To be honest, the bike already has a sissy bar, but it may be custom made because I havent been able to identify the brand and it seems like all the luggage racks are brand specific! I'm gonna link a pic of the sissy bar I currently have on the bike, if anyone can help that would be fantastic! Thanks http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm6/beendad/backrest.jpghttp://http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm6/beendad/backrest.jpg[/img]

I posted this on the watering hole forum hoping more people would see it giving me a better chance for success, here goes again, a while back I saw a pic of a 1st gen with a padded sissy bar replacing the entire trunk setup and it also had leather saddlebags on it. Anyone remember seeing this bike? if so can ya help me find the thing again?! Thanks:detective:

I found a really good deal on some motorcycle luggage, if anyone is interested. I first saw this particular piece at my local bike shop, and really liked it's quality and features. The luggage is EMGO and the model is called the BUFFALO BAG, at least that is what it is called in their catalog. Here is a picture. http://www.motorcyclepartsandapparel.com/emgo-deluxe-backrest-bag-set.html The bag is 2 parts that hook together, to give you tons of room. Also they come with a vinyl cover that is big enough for both pieces. At the shop, they were on sale for $159.00 (CDN) That page has it on for $129.00 I believe the bag is worth that much. At least it is to me. Now, here is the thing. I have found a full case of these bags (5 complete sets) for $160.00 That is right, $32 a piece if I buy all 5. Plus shipping of course. If there are any members in the Upstate NY, or southern Ontario area, that might be interested, let me know. I will front the $$ to get them. And will gladly meet up with you guys to get you yours. I will assume we split the costs 5 ways, I am not looking to make a penny on this deal. The bags are good qual, if you want to see one, and are near Hamilton, they have them at Kelly's cycle. I am not sure if these would suit the Venture crowd, but if you know someone with a sissy bar on their bike, who could use some luggage room when traveling. I also believe, that when off the bike, there are shoulder straps as well as handles for carrying these bags. Pass this on. If no one is interested, I will just buy 1 of these from the supplier, still a great deal. I am even willing to ship these bags, but of course, the additional shipping will be on you. Just tossing this out there. Please contact me via PM, email, phone (905) 929-2237, carrier pigeon, smoke signals or telegram Sonny EDIT This is from the EMGO website Features a two-piece pack system that fits on most luggage racks and sissy bars. Each large backpack comes with mesh side pockets, a roll bag, a cargo net, and a removable vinyl liner that is waterproof and fits easily into the roll bag. If you go to the EMGO website, and clic on catalogs, this luggage is on page 3.50 and is model number 72-32468 I just want to be clear which bags these are. Hope some of you might be interested. I know they are designed for sissy bars, but I am sure they would fit into trunks as well.

I am thinking of installing a Harley Ultra or similar type tour pack on my RSTD. Does anyone have any experiences to share with similar mods? Any ideas about using the existing quick-detach sissy bar hardware would especially be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Bob LeDuc Calgary, Alberta
