I've removed my fairing on my 2006 RSV for painting, as it has a few scratches on it. I need to get the 2 small pieces of trim off. Do they simply pry off? As they're only plastic I'm afraid I might break them if I don't do it right. Thanks in advance......

Is there such a thing as simply removing the cassette and installing a CD in its place?

We are in the process of rebuilding our VR Assistance List. If you can and are willing to offer assistance to a member who is riding through your area, please edit your profile to include that information. Simply click on "Settings" at the upper right of the page and then scroll down to "Edit Profile". Near the bottom you will find a place to select "yes or no" in regards to offering local assistance and then a place to select services that you may be able to offer. Cowpuc just mentioned in another thread another, and maybe easier, way to get to it. Click "forum actions" in the small menu at the top. Select edit profile. Scroll down and you'll see where to select your information.

Folks I need some help here. Rode today 2 up for the first time on my RSV and it killed me. Not the handling so much. My problem is when she mounts and dis-mounts. I cant hold the bike up. We made one stop and come home. It took everything I had to not drop it twice and by then I was used up. Her getting on first makes it very hard to stand the bike up, but easier on me a little. However when needing to have her get off in order to get into a park spot or for whatever reason i simply cannot hold the bike up. Im not so sure I did not pull something in my wrist saving the bike. Her short legs dont allow much for her to anything any different, but someting has to change or I am going to be totally spent before we leave for a ride.

I just made my second attempt at an oil change on my trike. Attempt #1: Bought an oil filter, oil and and oil filter wrench. The filter wrench when attached to the socket wrench will not fit onto the filter. There simply is not enough room between the oil filter and the radiator housing. Since I had already drained the oil, I went to get another filter wrench that would work with an open or boxed end wrench. The only filter wrenches were made of plastic. PLASTIC!! The OReilly guy assured me it was designed to withstand the pressure of the wrench on the nut. It failed miserably! Since I could not get the oil filter off. I elected to simply replace the oil and try again later. Attempt # 2: I bought more oil and three of my friends assured me that the oil filter can be easily removed with a pair of large channel locks. It probably can, but there is no room between the carport floor and the filter to allow the placement of the channel locks!. Can someone with a trike explain to me how on earth do I get that #%$#&^ oil filter off! Am I supposed to forever take it to a dealer for a $78 oil change?

So I really want a bit more sound outa the new bike. I've seen a youtube vid for V&H Monster Ovals - they sound really nice with a deep soft tone. Think I'll go for the ones with the black tips. So the thing is: do I just simply order ones for a R/King off V&H? What year? My bike is an '08 Midnight Venture. Also I've seen the adapter brackets for them on ebay. Is that all I need to fit them?

Anyone... seen these? or tried them? http://www.alibaba.com/showroom/led-h4-high-low.html Or better... are they simply for "Aux" lights?

I'm sure this is a quick one for some of you,,, I got a rear end noise in the last few days. With engine off, simply backing the bike or pushing it forward I hear a creaking noise like a old wood ship or a door. It's variable but repeats as you push the bike. It sounds like it is coming from the rear end, left side of wheel. Is this simply a need to grease the rear end? If so, can you put me on a link to do it? (Also, is it rideable or park it till it's fixed.) Thanks, Mike G in SC

I love the cruise. What a pleasure it is to have something like that on a bike. NOW for the question. Where do YOU rest your right hand?? I simply just rested mine on the bar end weight because the throttle.

Ok... so I've had this problem a few times since getting the bike: I'll be riding and everything seems fine, and the engine simply stops running. Acts like it's out of gas. it's happened 3 or 4 times- and it seems like turning the fuel petcock back and forth is solving the issue: Here's the question- I think it may be simply me not understanding how the reserve/main tank work together. 1. Does the fuel guage show the total gas or just the main tank? THe other day it cut off with a bar left on the guage. Switched it to reserve and back again a couple times... and it seemed to work again. 2- if someone could explain the relationship between the 2 fuel tanks, the petcock and the gas gauge, I think I would be able to troubleshoot better. rs (I know I'm probably spelling petcock wrong... I mean the tank chooser switchy thing- That' a technical description...)

Okay, here's the situation - I'm getting the itch for a new bike BIG TIME. I've had my RSV now for 5 years (longest I've ever kept a bike). It's never given me a moments grief. Never had the "whine" &/or "chirp" so many have agonized over. I've added lots of accessories over time and it is simply a gorgeous bike. I suddenly have a craving for a big V-twin tourer. I've decided it's either a Harley Ultra or the new Kawasaki Voyager. The Harley still has heat issues but is very aggressively priced at the dealer. The new Voyager is simply a gorgeous bike (to me anyways) and has features that appeal to me a little more than the Ultra. Problem is, every time I'm ready to pull the trigger, I look at my gorgeous RSV and ask myself...why? Anyone else ever suffer from the "itch"? It's all I can think about these days.

Folks, I should have brought this up LONG ago but just hadn't really considered how big a deal it could end up being. I'm going to have to ask you that if you are hosting or helping to organize a VentureRider rally, Meet and Eat, whatever...that you PLEASE not solicit donations from any of our listed vendors/supporters listed on this site without checking with me first. The problem is, we have a LOT of events throughout the year and we simply cannot ask a handful of vendors to donate prizes for each and every one of them. Our primary rally of the year is the Internatonal Rally. This year it will be held in Arkansas. We will be asking our vendors to donate prizes for that rally and hopefully some of them will be generous enough to do so. These are mostly small vendors though and they simply cannot be expected to donate to every event. It is also not fair that they may not even KNOW what is a major event, what is simply a Meet and Eat, etc. They get a message from John Doe at VentureRider.org and may assume that he or she is making the request as an official representative of the club. I'm sorry, but it just can't work that way. We will only ask our vendors here to donate to one major rally a year. For the other events, if you wish to give away prizes, you really need to approach your local dealers or new vendors. Please do not approach any company or vendor on behalf of VentureRider.org without discussing it with me first. I hope you understand and I thank you in advance for that understanding. Don

I know this should be listed in the for sale section. But I want to get this out there. Long story short. My bike ran out of gas in the Tip O'neil Tunnel here in MA. After a little more than half an hour a state trooper and flat bed came along. Unfortunately the driver of the flat bed did not tie down the bike correctly. After leaving the tunnel and pulling into the state police barracks parking lot (it is close to the tunnel) the bike tipped over. The right side of the fairing, along with associated parts got wrecked. Luckily the bike has crash guards. The damage is mostly cosmetic. I simply don't have the time or money to put into getting the bike back into shape. I did file with the state and they totaled the bike. I got what I paid for the bike. Sadly it will cost more to repair the bike. Also I lack storage space. To to it off I am fixing up my house to sell. I simply got lots going on now. The engine runs strong and has lots of life left in her. I road her back and forth to work most every day. From Attleboro to Cambridge and Waltham. I hate to let her go, or part her out. but right now it's the best thing I can do. I can't find the title, so I am going to fill out the paperwork to get a new one. But if you are looking for parts that would not be a problem. I have posted some of the work I had done. Along with pictures (She don't look quite the same now). Link to pictures - [/url]http://necrotechandbytch.com/~dusk/venture/ Some of the work that has been done. All four carbs were rebuilt. Replaced the linkage too. Complete tuneup. Wires plugs etc. Rebuilt the forks. Replaced gear shifter. New head gaskets. Replaced the exhaust collector. Replaced that star washer and associated parts. New tires. Metzler New stereo and speakers. Added extra lights. And much more. The bike is at my mechanic. You can call him and ask about the bike. He did all the work. I'm looking for the brackets, or more appropriately the part#, that secure the front of the touring pack. There are two of them, one is 'S' or zig-zag shaped, and the second is an 'L' bracket. I've looked on Yamaha's and a few other web sites for the part#, but cannot locate the appropriate part. Before someone says that I can simply manufacture some out of material from Lowe's or such, I don't have a work shop to do this work at.
