I just solved one problem, here comes another. 99 Venture Royal Star, replaced faulty ignition switch, corrected problem. Now, with the motor running and in neutral, if I place the sidestand down the motor stops. If the clutch lever or the sidestand is in any position, as long as the bike is in neutral no problem. -
Hi I have a 1984 Venture 1200 and have lots of fun, I live in Sweden and have bin driving arround europe the blast thre summers. Now i have a small problem, when it is on sidestand there is a metallic ticking, and ofcourse no second gear working. -
My sidestand switch isn't working properly, and was looking for another one. As the part is discontinued, I was wondering........where do I get one? This is for my 84

Does anyone here happen to have a sidestand for my 85 G1? If you do please pm me asap with price etc, so I can get it shipped out airmail as I have a trip planned for next Friday and I am not sure it will make it even with airmail. it will be an intersting trip if I have to use the center stand everywhere.....lol Thats quite a shocker when the stand lets go and the bike and you come over on to the pavement...All is good, just a couple of small scratches on the new paint and left mirror....my elbow took a good whack on the parking lot, but it will heal and at least elbows dont need paint. I know Ive had plenty of warnings from all you guys here, and Ive given my side stand a look once in a while, but I didnt do the real good look over like I should have. So, to anyone else that hasnt checked your sidestand go outside and check it right now!!! -
My 83 will not run with the sidestand down with the bike in neutral with clutch out. If I pull the clutch in just a little bit, it will run. It acts this way with two different CMS's and sidestand switches. When I put it in neutral, the light comes on as it is supposed to, so it appears it is getting power through the shifting mechanism. Any suggestions? RandyA -
how do you get the sidestand switch top bolt out. got the bottom bolt out and have a new switch to go in, but having trouble with the top bolt removal. i can not even see it. -
Ok so sence i bough my bike a couple year ago now, the sidestand kill switch hasnt worked properly. If the bike is running clutch in and in gear if the stand is lowered it sounds like one or two cylinders cut out but the motor still remains running. Ive nevr had a problem but the other day i got caught out in a severe downpour, i could hardy see no plce to stop so i c made it on home about 3 miles. when i turned left onto my road the motor died. it started up ok but dd it again on my driveway. started ok and pulled in out of the rain.I rode her again (dry) no trouble. do you think there may be trouble in the switch getting wet and grounding? dont think its in the steering as ive turn hard bolth left and right without this happening,. only the other day when it really got wet. ive rode in the rainm even tonight light rain no trouble again

have 2 problems with a 89 venture royale first, when bike is cold everything works great, after about 15 minutes the bike starts to miss,if i take bike off the sidestand then it runs fine, seems okay if im driving also the gear indicators only work in 3rd gear after bike runs about 15 minutes just wondering if it could be a sidestand problem, neutral switch or both

I was just wondering? Is it normal when putting the sidestand up for it to bounce a bit? Its kind of annoying. Is the a remady for this or do i need to live with it? Thanks in advance.

Hello all, Well, I went to go for a ride yesterday and I guess my Sidestand switch bit the dust. Flatout has them for $44, is that about the best place, or... Thanks D
