1. Charlene and I just arrived home from a great visit to St. Jude. We didnt have a really big turnout, I think the weather hurt our attendance. We had as many NARR members as we did Ventureriders. We had 6 bikes and 4 vehicles. Our donation was a total of $4,220.00. Again each group had almost equal donations. Many thanks to the members of the North Alabama Road Riders for joining with us in our fundraising for the kids at St. Jude. As an added note we were shown a new video produced and filmed at St. Jude, its very moving and really shows the family spirit at St. Jude. K Bran has it posted in the watering hole. http://www.venturerider.org/modules/Jig/index.php
2. Hi Guys. Need some help. I am suffering from a bad case of clutch slip. Does the 1999 second gen TF Venture have a clutch spring plate or does it have several, say six small springs like the older machines. I say that it is an spring plate as shown in service manual. 1 in total. The chap who sells EBC parts on E-Bay says it is a set of several springs. As shown below. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/e11051.m43.l1123/7?euid=e57ef8c1b95d43ddbc200129acc4e73c&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Febaymotors%2Fws%2FeBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D270926331528%26ssPageName%3DADME%3AX%3ARTQ%3AMOTORS%3A1123 Thanks. Neil. Old Miner.
3. D. H. Lawrence's book. Not a bike related problem but I guess you are my only hope as I have tried every other avenue I can think of. I know how you get things sorted for our Ventures, so... Here goes: During the late 1970's and early 1980's the village I live in was used to film a four part mini series based on the book 'Sons and Lovers' by D.H. Lawrence. It was only ever shown in the UK once and that was shortly after completion, the rights etc were then passed over to Masterpiece Theatre over in the States and has been shown several times over there by them. Our village and people (including dogs) were used for the series and there are several local stories about the film, it is part of the fokelore of the area. But there is not a copy available in the UK. Just wondered if you good people out there knew where I could get hold of a copy of the series if indeed it exists.. Many thanks. Old Miner. Hope I have not put it in the wrong place. There are other versions, there is a film starring Vanessa Redgrave, and a more recent one starring Sarah Lancashire. There are other versions, most are readily available. Mini series of four episodes a joint venture between the BBC and Masterpiece Theatre: Sons and Lovers (D.H. Lawrence). 1981 15 May 1983 (USA) First Shown Trevor Griffiths adaptation. Starring: Eileen Atkins Tom Bell
4. This was sent to me today and I found it was pretty neat so am sharing it here. Larry This is REALLY amazing! All projected onto the side of a building. Very, very cool. Clever LG ad shown on a Berlin building... just click this link to start the video if you have a player installed on your computer...
5. How is everyone showing the states they have visited on their posts / assocoated with their screen name ? I can't find it anywhere.
6. Hi, I got tired of the original mirrors on my bikes, for various age related reasons, so I built a mount that adapts the Venture 2 screw mount to take the conventional M10 x 1.25 threaded shank of a conventional motorcycle stalk mirrors. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/ad39/UxHamby/vehicles/bike4/98280491.jpg?t=1275875559 I built a couple of different versioins before settling on a final design. The pair that were the version before last, as shown in the picture above, are quite useable but will now only sit in my junk box, so I thought I'd offer them 'Free To Good Home', to anyone here at VR.org who's interested in having them. They were hand fabricated as prorotypes so certainly don't look 'laser cut' or anythng, but are entirely functional and quite presentable I think. They are a left hand / right hand threaded pair for compatibility with Yamaha mirrors. LMK if you'd like them. (BTW, I bought the mirrors I used on Ebay as shown in ebay auctions 110370409134 and 110515482095. I am quite happy with both.) Cheers, Brian H.
7. I got to wondering why so many techs were having trouble diagnosing radio/audio related problems on RSV's. So I was looking through the service manual wiring diagrams thinking things should be pretty straight forward. What I discovered is a lot of missing information. Neither of the headset connections or the rear remote are shown on the diagram. None of the interconnect wiring for the CB or anything else is shown. Only some of the wires and connectors from the MCU are shown. No antenna connections are shown. None of the repair messages the radio presents were shown in the troubleshooter. No wonder this is such a 'guess how' fix area on these bikes. If anyone has a complete wiring diagram for the audio system on the RS Venture how about posting it. Mike
8. Ok, I am doing a top secret project on the trike with a Chrysler emblem and I am looking for another logo off one of these hundreds of decks that we all have pulled for the gauges. I am looking for one with the beige color in the logo. like shown in the pic. willing to pay for it. OR maybe even one of the badges off the side of wrecked gas tank might be better as it will be a little larger. Thanks. Jeff
9. Attached are redrawn schematics of the starting circuits for the 1st Gen's. I thought these might help people that have cranking & starting issues. There is a narrative above each circuit detailing operation. This text assumes a charged battery and intact fuses. There are three views of each circuit. Left side shows circuit in normal condition, key off, side stand down, transmission in neutral. Center view shows circuit with key on, transmission in neutral. clutch and side stand switches not shown as they are irrelevant in this configuration. All switches and relays shown in position to energize starting motor. RIght view shows key on, transmission in gear, side stand up and cluth pulled in. Neutral switch not shown as it is irrelevant in this configuration. All switches and relays shown in position to energize starting motor. Also, the side stand relay and Emergency stop sensor are shown. Neither of these affect the cranking circuit but will shut down the Ignitor unit. Actually, the bike will start and run with either of these pulled out. 84-85 one is almost identical to 86-93 version. Only difference is positive wire at starting solenoid coil. Gary

11. My Son in Law has a 6 cyl. '03 3rd Gen. "standard" shift Dodge Ram P.U. . It will only start when the clutch pedal hits the "sweet spot" :detective:is this a neutral safety switch or the equivelant of it on a standard? Is this a DIY job? How much should it cost. Also, no codes a being shown. Any help would be appreciated!ough for me...I am also asking this on my Dodge Site but thought someone here might have had this same type of issue on a "cage":bighug:
12. Wondered if anyone caught this. They're looking at possibly going higher than that. Ran across this article.... http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/energy/2009-04-16-ethanol-epa_N.htm If I have to depend on "them" to determine that higher ethanol levels won't damage my vehicles (particularly the bikes), I have but one question......When it is shown that they're wrong, missed something, screwed up and/or my equipment is damaged, who's gonna pick up the tab for the repair??? (yes that is a totally rhetorical question)
13. Just bought an 88VR with a braket for a backrest, but it is missing the actual backrest. Don't think it is a Yamaha accessory. Can anybody tell from the picture who makes this and does anybody know where I might find the matching backrest that attaches to the bracket shown in the picture?
14. Hey all, looking to put a pocket in each of my 2nd gen rsv in each lid. Found a set that is rather inexpensive but my question is howw do they hold up and will they fall down into bag during the hot summer months if they are attached with 2 sided tape. The photo of them shown at link below shows open rivet holes on the ends and I'm sure not going to drill into lids to attach them. anyone already using these and if so how do you install them? thanks Bein D. http://www.americanmotorcycleaccessories.com/proddetail.asp?prod=AMA0740
15. Any one have advise on how to push up the air joint bracket to remove the spring wire clip so that the fork leg will drop down (shown manual page 5-30) If it just pushes up it must take a 500 pound ape - cause mine won't move Thanks all
16. Every time I look at classifieds the "distance" from me is shown incorrect? Anyone know how to correct that?
17. Hi everyone Finally got a break from everything to downsize pictures from Rattlesnakes place. This is the house he needs to repair. Not sure how his schedule is going for everything. The kitchen is the main thrust. It needs some cabinets, counters wiring etc. The rest needs paint, sanding and paper. I'm sure that Ron and JT will be able to let us know more. The cabinets and counters shown fit on either side of the doorway. They can be refinished and new tops installed. A sink and plumbing would finish it off.
18. Do I have to purchase the chrome rails that go around the side (not on the lid) of the saddlebags from Yamaha? Do other manufacturers fit? Also, does the set shown in the Yammie catalogue for the Royal Star, they come to a point on the front, fit the RSV? Thanks.
