Well here goes. I've read all the posts about Shinko 777 vs Dunlop 404's. Most of the post or threads were for Gen 1. I am going to put WWW on my 2000 RSV MM and trying to decide on which of the only two brands that handle MT90-16 for the front & 150/90-15 for the rear, Shinko & Dunlop. Anybody with experience with these tires or any suggestions where to find more brands of WWW tires in these sizes. Sorry to start this thing about tires again, but I haven't found any really definitive answers about these tires for a 2nd Gen.

Ok, I have read some of the input on the Shinko tires, but they are somewhat dated, does anyone have any more feedback on them, mileage, handling, pros, cons.......looking to buy tires for both bikes and having trouble getting the tires I want at MotorcycleProShops, cant order via internet, and keep getting voice mail when I call......and they have the best prices around.............

I'm debating whether to buy a pair of Shinko tires..The price is enticing but I can't seem to escape the old addage " you get what you pay for" My question is: has anyone put over 15k on this tire and can offer a positive testimonial after doing so... Inquiring mind wants to know Thanks

Well, I decided to be the "test subject" for the new Shinko touring tires. My old Metzler 880's (which came on the bike when I bought it) were crappola. I've never seen a rear tire with such a "sawtooth" wear pattern. It's hard to describe, but I think you could use it as a large sawblade and cut paneling with it. The shop that changes my tires had never seen anything like it either. Rode ok in a straight line on smooth pavement, but curves weren't even fun anymore....bike vibrated like crazy with just a small amount of lean. Plenty of tread left but couldn't stand those tires anymore. Anyway, I had my shop order and install the new Tourmaster 230's. I've only got about 100 miles on them so far but will be putting a bunch of miles on this coming weekend on our Southern Indiana trip. Thus far I am impressed. Smooth....quiet....seem to grip well. And SO responsive. The bike seems to know which way I want to turn before I do....just a small input on the handlebar and the bike responds instantly. I didn't realize how much effort it took to turn with the old tires on it. Granted, any new tire will seem to be great when compared to ones like I was running. I will keep everyone posted on how these tires work out. At present you can order a set for the 2nd gens from Pinwall Cycle for $163 delivered anywhere in the USA. That's not a typo, $163 for BOTH front and rear.

Last week I installed a Shinko 230 Tour Master front tire, V-rated, on my 1988 Venture Royale. I ordered it from Motorcycle Superstore, at a good price -- less than $70 including shipping. I went on a 200-mile ride on lots of "invisible roads" with twisties, straight sections, and a short section of high-speed interstate. All roads were dry. Excellent response from this tire, rather quiet -- much quieter than the Continental it replaced. No problems of any kind. Still to report: How it handles on wet roads, and how long it will last. If the tire passes these two tests, then it's a helluva bargain. Nick Diaz Middletown, MD

Has anyone tried them out on a first generation (83-85)? How were they? Thanks, Doug
