when i bought this 88 venture last week i mentioned that it had a loose front end i changed fork oil, and this solved the right side oil leak that i had, but still had a very bad shimmy at all speeds when i released pressure on the handle bars, severe enough that i was afraid to ride it. the bike also needed tires and i opted for dunlop elite 111s, as this seemed the tire of choice on the forum, i use dyna beads in my roadstar so thats what i used in the dunlops and guess what?absolutley no shimmy or vibes from the front end, and the mirrors are clear. Now this is strange, just got back off a arkansas bike trip.Had all my camping gear on my bike about 40 pounds. When i take my hands off the handle bars it starts to shimmy bad,I mean bad.I unloaded my gear off the back of it and no shimmy. Most of the weight was on the passenger seat with very little on the luggage rack.If it shimmys with that little weight on the back i can just imagine what it would do with a passenger. I have 36 PSI in the front tires and 42 PSI in the rear tire. Also 7 PSI in each front fork. Any ideas on what could be causing the shimmy.Oh yes. it has stock Dunlop tires on it with plenty of rubber left.

Had my venture for about a year, run 0 psi in front forks and 0 psi in rear shock.I had no problems running around local. Before i left on a long trip i put 7 psi in front forks and 35 psi in rear shock. When i make slow turns right or left i have a slight shimmy in my front (can feel it in my handle bars)when i straighten out and pick up speed it goes away. tried letting some air out of my front forks careful to keep the psi the same but still have some shimmy. The air pump was bought from harley davidson and it goes from 0-10 psi kind of guessing where 7 psi is. Any ideas what the problem with the shimmy might be???????????

Help, I am at an end point with making a axle for a pull behind trailer. I am using flexride torsion axles. Has anyone used these and have they had any problems with these. I have a hi speed shimmy and can't seem to correct this. Thanks

I know most of us don't ride around without our hands on the handle bars, but on occasion when I am riding with one hand or if I let go of the stearing my front wheel will start to shimmy. Once I grab on it will go away. Has anyone else exeperianced this? Is there something that I sould look into or is this normal?
