Hi all Interesting thing happened today....Wife and are out for a nice Easter ride, about 45 miles or so from home, when I go to downshift while approaching a light and wa-la, my shifter is laying on my floorboard. I pull into a wide spot (the wife follows me in on her Shadow) and guess what? the machine screw (that holds the heel toe in place is somewhere on Rt 33. I put the shifter back on and all is good ( I hold it in place with my foot after each shift). Now what I can use is the exploded diagram of the shifter for a 2005 RSV midnight. Thanks inadvance.

My dad passed many, many years ago but I still think of him often. On the day of his passing, a friend gave me a piece of paper with this written on it. I have carried it every since and would like to share. SHADOW AND SUBSTANCE When I was a child, my father sometimes took me for walks in the late afternoon. We would wander down through the pasture, not hurrying. He would tell me the names of the trees, point out birds nest so well hidden that the careless eye would never see it. Sometimes, if the day was uncommonly warm, he would say to me, “Walk in my shadow. I’ll be your shade.” Even now, I recall how good it was to be a child, exploring the fields, becoming aware of the natural order of life, watching the miracles of the changing seasons, safe in his shadow, protected by the shade he provided me. One day we discovered that I had grown too tall to fit into his shadow. We didn’t speak of it. We just both knew that the time had come for us to walk side by side, each casting his own shadow. Later still, I came to understand that the shadow of my father was as it was because the man who cast it was who he was: big enough, strong enough, wise enough to be my shelter till I was sufficiently strong to step outside and walk my own way. My father gave me the best of himself, his shadow and his substance. Today, I took my own son walking through those same fields. When we stopped, I noticed that he stepped closer, letting my shadow cover his small head. In a moment I felt the pangs of sweet memory, the quick flash of pride, and the fear of my own uncertainty of this life. All these in a blink so that I could not tell which was first or last. As I stood there, I felt, ever so softly, a familiar touch on my shoulder. The touch which, for so long, urged me forward or turned me aside. I didn’t look, for I knew that touch and from where it came deep inside me. In that same instant I knew that my father was still there, urging me forward, guiding my hand and words. For I am my father’s shadow and his substance.

During our annual spring ride, my younger brother (Scott) let all the oil out of his Honda Shadow Aero 1100 in western Texas. He has been debated whether to part it out, or have it fixed. The local shop advised it would be $1500 to $1800 to fix it depending on what needs replaced/repaired. Well........ I have fooled Scott into thinking I was a decent wrench and he is having the dead bike shipped up here (from Dallas) for me to work on. Just what I need - another project. Like the 2 dead bikes in the shop aren't enough. Anyhooo, it will be fun to tear it apart knowing that if it can't be fixed, I can just buy a used engine an stick it in there. Be about $1000 to go that route. Yeah, I know, if we were to do this, it would have been easier and cost about the same to have the local shop do it. It will all be worth it to watch the expression on my wife's face when this bike is rolled off the truck and into the garage. As of this point, she knows nothing about it and thinks I spent too much time/money on the bikes already (she may have a point, but I will not acknowledge it). Anybody have a Honda Shadow 1100 engine laying around? I believe anything from 1998 to 2004 will fit. RR

If you live somewhere where the time just changed and are a regular commuter like me; remember that the sun has moved a lot, esp for the ride home. In the direction of that long shadow, you are worse than invisible, you hurt to look at. Folks who "saw" you on Friday may be blinded on Monday.

Any one have any knowledge or documentation on a '93 era Shadow 1100. I have one in the garage that I am working on for a friend. He has a Climbers for it but It does not even give fuse locations. Thanks

My son asked if he could upgrade to a lager bike this year. He is over six feet tall and the Shadow was too small for him. He wanted a bike with hard bags that could be locked. We looked all around at a number of bikes and he is the proud owner of a 1st Gen. A 1990 Yamaha Venture Royal with 30000 miles (50000 Km). My wife and daughter don’t want me to sell the Shadow so they can ride it. Now I have 3 ponies in the stable to look after. True to form.... Here are some pics

My stepson has been riding my shadow of and on. The other day he found a puddle of fairly big cooling fluid under the kickstand. He says it is coming out of the overflow(?) Also says the cooling fan isn't coming on. With the bike being at his place, makes it a bit harder to see what is going on but I told him I'd ask y'all. I supose a lack of cooling might cause too much expansion so I told him to check the fuse and power the fan separately to make sure it is still working. Are there any other things to do to see why it suddenly is "blowing" out fluid? Thanks! btw: Since he prefers to borrow his friends HD, I am open to offers if you or someone you know wants to buy this low mileage bike. Black, 22K miles(+/-), windshield, highway pegs, sissy bar, new leather trunk bag.

Just picked it up last weekend. Had bought it sight unseen, but had my brother check it out for me. After reading some of the praise of this bike for some time on this site, I now know what you guys have been talking about. Couldn't be happier with the scoot. My wife loves it too. There's way more room on the back for her compared to my Shadow I've ridden for 5 years. Naked Rider, we'll have to get together some time for a ride or maybe meet up at Joe Ford's Custom Bikes some time. I go in there alot.

What I'm looking for is something so my wife and I can chat if we so desire. The problems is that we ride on two different bikes. Are there any options out there that will allow us to talk to each other. She rides a Honda Shadow 1100 so the cb is not even an option. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance David

I just installed a Sirius radio on my Venture. Works great but I am getting engine feedback/noise. My riding buddy has XM on a Shadow and has the same problem. Mine is connected via the socket on the fairing, soon to be hard wired. The Shadow is hardwired with a filter. Anyone have this problem? Is there a way to get rid of it? If I go fast enough I don't notice it as much Thanks, John

Girl friend (well, really more than that) yesterday bought a 2000 Honda VT1100 Shadow Spirit with 4,100 miles on it. Needs two tires (they are OK, but original), needs nothing else except cleaning. I know, pictures. I have to take pics of some other stuff and post too. What I need help with, is URL for a friendly place like this to find out info about this bike. Hope you can help. Also looking for Lindy Bars and light bar for the Shadow Spirit. You all ride safe, now that it is warming up!!!! Rider down posts are no longer allowed, 'cause ain't no more good folks goin' down! Thanks

It seems that the rodents can't align ... Wiarton Willie (Ontario) and Shubenacadie Sam (Nova Scotia) both didn't see their shadow, and therefore are predicting an early spring. However, Punxsutawney Phil (Pennsylvannia) did proclaim "a bright sky I see and a shadow beside me, six more weeks of winter I see.' I think someone should go "Phil-hunting" ... Cheers, Lou
