Our 1st trip there we arrived at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon and there was a 45 minute wait, BUT it was well worth the wait!! I would like to take a second to day and say thank you to all the Veterans out there from where ever you may be from and how and where ever you may have served. We and our families are safe and free because of you and those that gave their lives for us. It is pouting rain in my city, I am going to go get dressed warm and head to our local Cenotaph and watch the military parade into our town. I will remember my father and his brothers that all served time in Europe during WWII. I will remember my mother that went to work at the ship yard to help build the ships my father served on for 25 years. I will think of how lucky I have been to have had so many give so much for me to be free. Thank you This from my friend Calvin's website: http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.barkingmadspeedshop.com%2F2011%2F11%2Fnovember-11-remembrance-day.html%3Fspref%3Dfb&h=NAQG10n1WAQEzwSKd8hzWGCLWdXFKnTOonhiDFnofD4yCHQ

Veterans Affairs Canada has just produced a new video honouring all veterans and pointing them towards Veterans affairs across Canada. It goes from coast to coast showing some veterans and listing their names and the theater they served in. There is a B. Tessier with his wife and his RSV shown early in the video, does anyone know him or if he is a member here? I would like to thank everyone for their service of their military no matter where you lived or served, the service you performed is greatly appreciated! http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/video-gallery/video/9010 Brian

A big Texan stopped at a local restaurant following a day roaming around in Mexico. While sipping his tequila, he noticed a sizzling, scrumptious looking platter being served at the next table. Not only did it look good, the smell was wonderful. He asked the waiter, 'What is that you just served?' The waiter replied, 'Ah senor, you have excellent taste! Those are called Cojones de Toro, bull's testicles from the bull fight this morning. A delicacy!' The cowboy said, 'What the heck, bring me an order.' The waiter replied, 'I am so sorry Senor, there is only one serving per day because there is only one bull fight each morning. If you come early and place your order, we will be sure to save you this delicacy.' The next morning, the cowboy returned, placed his order, and that evening was served the one and only special delicacy of the day. After a few bites, inspecting his platter, he called to the waiter and said, 'These are delicious, but they are much, much smaller than the ones I saw you serve yesterday.' The waiter shrugged his shoulders and replied, 'Yes, Senor, sometimes the bull wins.'

Having never served myself thanks to tricky Dick I don't know so hears my question. My son who has served 14 yr is now in Afghanistan and has been since last July and finally called us yesterday. After not hearing from him for three weeks. It was good to hear his voice again. He said that he was very tired and tired of being hungry. When he left he was about 205 and is now at 175. I have a hard time imagining this! How could we send these young men to fight for our country and not feed them? He is on a forward operation base and says things are heating up there now that winter is almost over. Seems the Taliban are fair weather fighters. We are sending him another care package today {food, magazines, tobacco products}. All I know is that this fries me. One more thing he has bought with his own money a Rangefinder and a tactical jacket with lots of storage pockets. Which we have sent on to him. This I thought was unacceptable also that he is self funding our war needs.

This was sent to my by a 'nam buddy. Thought I would share it with the other vets here. http://www.virtualwall.org/iStates.htm This may also be of interest to our Canadian members. There are 58 Canadians listed on the wall. For those that may not know it, there were over 40,000 Canadians who served with the US Forces in Vietnam. Almost made up for the 50,000 Americans that went to Canada to avoid the draft.

Yesterday I received a telephone call from a member who felt that we should come up with a way to honor our military veterans. I knew that he was right and tried to come up with something yesterday but just couldn't get it done. I have now added a new award category that will add a icon to your posts that signify that you served and in which branch of the military. At this time, I have only found icons for the US branches of Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy. If some of our Canadian members can help me with icons of their military seals, I will get them added as well. The same goes for our members in other countries. In lieu of that, I could try to come up with some type of generic icon. Now, if you wish to have this icon added to your posts, you only need to click on the VRAwards link in the upper menu bar and request the reward. Don't be shy about it because if you don't tell me, I won't know. I know this is not a huge deal but hopefully it will in some small way show our appreciation for all of you who presently serve or have served in the past.

Cleaning out the garage today, took off the YICS and the plastic covers that go over the valve covers last year, just sittin' on the shelf-GOTTA GO! If anybody wants them for postage, PM me. May throw some other stuff on here if I find any. First come, first served, I'll check messages later on. I believe the YICS is still sealed. Dan
