There was a bit of confusion at the supermarket this morning. When I was ready to pay for my groceries, the cashier said, "Strip down facing me.". Making a mental note to complain to my congressman about Homeland Security running amok, I did just as she had instructed. When the hysterical shrieking and security alarms finally subsided, I found out that she was referring to my credit card. I have been asked to shop elsewhere in the future...

Since I'm tearing down I think now will be the best time to add on things to the bike. It will make for a cleaner install. I was considering putting an alarm system on my Venture, although she will always be garaged. I was considering the the concerns during ride ins & such. What security systems do you have on your 1st gen & what features should I consider having, if any? Are they worth it? Thanks for your input

I have a question for the masses, as I know we have a greatly diversified group of folks here. The new house that Lonna and I are moving into, has in the past been burglarized and they stole copper wire and such. We are going to install an alarm system as the owners of whom we are going to purchase it from in a couple of years, have agreed to split the install cost in half with us. We checked into ADT, and I guess they think their stuff and product is gold. Price was not what I would have thought and they were very pushy to have it installed immediately. There also was a quote from FrontPoint security, lots of the bells and whistles like ADT, but more reasonably priced. My question for y'all is, have any of you dealt with this FrontPoint and or other security companies, and what insight can you pass on to me about the industry for those of you in the know?

One year, I decided to buy my mother-in-law a cemetery plot as a Christmas gift. The next year, I didn't buy her a gift. When she asked me why, I replied, "Well, you still haven't used the gift I bought you last year!" And that's how the fight started..... ________________________________ I took my wife to a restaurant. The waiter, for some reason, took my order first. "I'll have the rump steak, rare, please." He said, "Aren't you worried about the mad cow?" "Nah, she can order for herself." And that's when the fight started..... _______________________________ My wife and I were sitting at a table at her high school reunion, and she kept staring at a drunken man swigging his drink as he sat alone at a nearby table. I asked her, "Do you know him?" "Yes", she sighed, "He's my old boyfriend. I understand he took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear he hasn't been sober since." "My God!" I said, "Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?" And then the fight started... ________________________________ When our lawn mower broke and wouldn't run, my wife kept hinting to me that I should get it fixed. But, somehow I always had something else to take care of first, the shed, the boat, making beer.. Always something more important to me. Finally she thought of a clever way to make her point. When I arrived home one day, I found her seated in the tall grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of sewing scissors. I watched silently for a short time and then went into the house. I was gone only a minute, and when I came out again I handed her a toothbrush. I said, "When you finish cutting the grass, you might as well sweep the driveway." The doctors say I will walk again, but I will always have a limp. __________________________ My wife sat down next to me as I was flipping channels. She asked, "What's on TV?" I said, "Dust." And then the fight started... _______________________________ My wife was hinting about what she wanted for our upcoming anniversary. She said, "I want something shiny that goes from 0 to 150 in about 3 seconds." I bought her a bathroom scale. And then the fight started...... ______________________________ After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security. The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver's License to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized I had left my wallet at home. I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I would have to go home and come back later. The woman said, 'Unbutton your shirt'. So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair. She said, 'That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me' and she processed my Social Security application. When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at the Social Security office. She said, 'You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability too.' And then the fight started... ________________________________ My wife was standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror. She was not happy with what she saw and said to me, "I feel horrible; I look old, fat and ugly. I really need you to pay me a compliment.' I replied, "Your eyesight's darn near perfect." And then the….

I got to say, I wonder about how the brain fuctions for some of these wannabe bad boys. I came home from work this afternoon with an armload of groceries and found that when I grabbed the doorknob it felt odd. Not round anymore. More oval shaped. When I left for work at 4:00 AM it was round to the best of my recall. Taking a closer look it was smashed and the shank had scars on it like those of a channel lock or pipe wrench. Nice. Custom! The key hole had a piece of wire stuck in it and broken off. That sucked. I couldn't open my own front door. Called my security company and a locksmith. The security guy told me there has been a rash of attempted break-ins on my block. During the day most the time. No sucessful entries but they did try. The thing is there is a dead bolt right above the door knob. Guess they didn't notice that. And a quick look in the front window they would have been looking directly into the security camera (which was on and blinking) pointing at the porch. Not very observant. So the locksmith got me in and installed a new doorknob and rekeyed the deadbolt also. He was laughing because if the door had been opened they would have noticed the security chain for sure and the audibule alarm (95db) from the system and the stobe lights firing in every room. (I have a major hear loss so lights are my alert and defense) So I stepped into my lil office room and checked the cameras. Yep. Got him. No good shot of his face (damned hoodie) but he was fun to watch for like almost 5 minutes screwing with the door. But as he left I got a nice shot at the back of his hoodie with a company name on it. Nice and clear. I burned a copy for the security guy and another one for the LEO that stopped by. They enjoyed it. So I guess I'll keep my eyes open for a moron wandering around my area advertising for the lucky company. I'd like to introduce myself. Maybe with a pipe wrench to his knob. The sad part is....as he has not actually been able to sucessfully enter a home, the only thing they say they can charge him with is vandalism. And I live in a "nice" area. Just happens to be filled with idiots. Nuttin worse that a stupid crook.

I just got this email from the US Dept of Homeland Security: The return email address was U.S. Department of Homeland Security janet01napoliitano@gmail.com This came from big sis herself. Imma so skeered. It had a attachment. Do you think I should open it? Maybe I'll forward it to the FBI and see what they have to say about it... Maybe we should all click the link and email her with our thanks for what a good job she's doing!

I have been having trouble with signing in lately and today I did some checking and found that my virus software by CA Internet Security was apparently blocking me from signing in. The software had enabled the "Protected Mode" of my browser and would not allow me to log in. I would enter my user name and password and then it would log me in to the redirect screen and then I guess drop me back out of the log in. I had to diable that and enter the sites URL manually as an allowed site and then re-enabled protected mode and it has worked fine ever since. Don't really understand what caused it to do it because I was logging in okay just last week. I went out of town for a week and when i came back I couldn't log in. Anyone else out there have CA Security software? That's how I fixed it.

I have read the other threads here on Firefox and neither of them seem to fit this problem. I have not used Firefox but I have a friend who uses it and she is now unable to open it. She has some favourites on her Firefox browser that she would like to access. Might there be an easy fix to get it started up again? Like maybe downloading Firefox 3? But, will she lose her favourites in the process? How about changing the security settings on her firewall or maybe just shutting it down temporarily? There seems to be some clued-in folks here on firefox so hopefully one of you has the magic bullet. :backinmyday:Thanks a bunch. Cliff

Between Home and the office I probably have 30-50 online login accounts. Everything from financial, stocks, credit cards, bill payments, business mfg,to the socializing accounts and email. My question is how do you keep track of all the usernames and passwords? It would be nice to just have one or two usernames and passwords for everything but that is a No No from a security point of view.Maybe breaking them down into 5 or 6 groups say everything financial's is this username and password and bill accounts would be something else. I guess the best practice would be a separate password for everything but this would require using management software to keep track of them. The problem is I use many different computers during a weeks time and this login thing is growing. Now were being prompted for your security answers because secure websites do not recognize more then one computer. Oh yea don't forget it's time to change your password at regular intervals. What started all this rant is My Yahoo account login said the other day there had been suspicious activity on my account and I needed to change my password?I'm not a fan of those security vault programs but something has to be done. Also there is the issue of how strong is your password? I guess using something easy to remember is out?Just curious what others are doing or If you even think about it? ID theft seems to be a growing business.

Okay, first off, I did a search on this topic and haven't found a single thread about alarms. Nothing under 'alarms', 'anti theft' or 'security devices' so if I've erred, sue me! Now that we got that out of the way.......... Living in a so-so neighbourhood, with a one car garage/one truck driveway, I pretty well need to leave my bike outside at the front of the house cause the missus just doesn't have the strength to move it around when she leaves for work. Since I don't have any neighbours with Harley's to park next to (think about it! *L*), I have to leave my ride out there sitting all alone when I'm off to work. Soooooo.....I've been researching a few alarms for the bike and wonder if anyone out there could offer me some advice. The one I'm leaning towards is the Scorpio Alarm SR-i600 FM 2-Way Paging Security System with Anti-Hijack, Perimeter Sensor, Battery Back-up (and more) from cruisercustomizing.com. Anyone familiar with this alarm? It gets some pretty good reviews. Got some better suggestions? Thanks again in advance...... Bluez

Trying to keep up with our on line bills and accounts. Every month paying bills is crazy. Web sites constantly upgrading security measures. Your password will expire in 10 days and no you can't use that one again. Please answer the following security questions. Oh you must have cleaned out your registry we do not recognize your computer. Nothing wrong with trying to curb identity theft but I try to remember all my passwords instead of storing them on my computer. I hope Alzheimers don't kick in soon. Now what was I saying???

Don, I've been trying to upload photos of the N. Ga. Maintenance day M&E and I keep getting this message that says photos can not be uploaded due to missing security token, check with administrator. Am I doing some thing wrong or is this a glitch because of software update?

It's unbelieve able how many breakins there have been around here. Every day, in the middle of the day. Home security systems don't do much good. It takes a minute for the alarm to go off, another minute for the security company to call you and maybe 5 minutes for the police to get to your house. Thats plenty of time for the thieves to get in and get out with your computer, tv etc. With a camera and recording system maybe at least a person would have a face to put with the bums. Recomendations?
