I have the rear wheel and final drive off should it leak oil while off the bike or should it br sealed up?

I plan on using permatex to seal the stator cover up along with using a new stator cover gasket, and I need to make sure those rubber peices where the wires run through are also sealed good. What kind of Permatex should I be using? Theres like... all these flavors!

My turn signals have become cold blooded. They only work when it's above about 72* (not a problem right now) I'm assuming it's a sealed unit and no fixing possible. I believe the part no. is 41R-83350-71-00. Does anybody have a spare?

I'm getting some of the stock running lights for my 2006 RSTD. There are two sets of lights for sale. One is sealed beam, the other is Halogen. What are the pros and cons of each? I have the original headlight....but would not hesitate to replace it with some thing better. I'd like the lights to match....

I have a 2004 Midnight Royal Star Venture and I want to purchase the Yamaha Passing light kit but I want the halogen lights opposed to the sealed beams. I have been correspondence with one of the suppliers and there is some doubt whether the halegon lights mount on the same light bar as the sealed beams light do. Has anyone been thru this as I don't want to order and get the wrong ones. The numbers separately are - lamp bar STR-4XY35-40-10 and the halegon lights are STR-4NK35-10-01. Can someone please verify this set up is compatible? Also where is the best place to purchase......I live in Canada. Thanks

I'm sure it's been mentioned somewhere here many times, but when I 'searched' nothing jumped out. On my 89, I'm in the process of changing my alternator stator (and my starter drive clutch, and my rear wheel bearings and my....). I think that the last time I did it (on my 83) I sealed the leads in the grommet and the grommet in the case with RTV. Is there anything better to use, or does everybody still use RTV? Thanks, Frank

Got one reinstalled on the bike and WOW I love it. Go to install #2 and for the life of me that metal ring for the sealed beam grew legs and split!!! I have searched and searched so now I ask for your help. Any chance someone has one laying around I could get?? Please let me know ASAP Thanks Guys

Sealed Bearing Question?
cimack77 posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Just got a set of sealed bearings for the front end of my 1988. Question is the bearings are pre-greased but seem so very little, should I pack or use them as is. Thanks cimack77 -
I am looking to change/upgrade the passing lamps on my RSV. They are the Yamaha OEM sealed beam style, and I would really like to change to something with a replaceable H3 bulb. I would still like to use the existing mounts, is there a way or a different lens housing I can use? I also hate that the sealed beam is "yellow" compared to my Silverstar Ultra. Any and all help you can provide would be great.. Thanks JM

My lens is cracked and I can't find just a lens for sale anywhere, the only way I can see to buy it is the whole assembly with the mounting flange and adjusters for like $125 at the cheapest. Anyone know of a place that sells just the glass? or have any cheap alternative to replace it? Would it be possible to just use a plain sealed beam headlight even?

I,ve been reading in the book that the engine oil also is used for the culch but is it also for the trans... And while i,m at it is the bearings on the shaft sealed or do I grease them....So much to learn Ron (Whistler:cool10:)

The 2002 Venture I am picking up this week has the sealed beam passing lights. The dealer tells me that I would have to buy the light kit (including housings) for $137 if I want to switch to halogens (35W, H3 lamp). He also quoted $22 each for replacement sealed beam bulbs in case I just want to replace the existing lamps! Canadian prices are quite a bit higher than USA prices, but this seems a little out of line. If I decide to go with the halogen lamps, does anyone know whether I have to replace all of it or if I can just fit the new lenses and new reflector to the housings for the SB units- if so, where can I get these? If I can't switch to the halogens for a reasonable cost, what aftermarket sealed beam lamp is suitable? I am also thinking about changing the amber signal light lenses to the clear ones (with amber bulb). (Is the lens interchangeable?) The plastic lenses appear to be reasonably inexpensive but the front bulbs (dual filament - run, turn) are VERY expensive - a lot more than the lenses! It seems to me I read somewhere that you could buy a standard automotive lamp at a small fraction of the Yamaha price and file off one of the lugs to fit these sockets. What would be suitable for the rear bulbs (single filament, turn only). Thank you Ross

Good Morning! I have a 2004 RSV with the factory light bar / driving lights. [The sealed beam lights] I know I asked the group the question about replacing the lights to get more light output before, but I can't find the thread or the answer ... Someone from this group told me about replacement sealed beam lights that are brighter than the factory lights, about the same wattage, and nearly plug and play. UH, they were from .... ????? J & S, J & P, I don't recall and can't find it here or even with a google search. Thanks!

Does anyone know if the factory running lights on the venture (sealed beam) can be updated to a brighter light? I know the halogen can, but the sealed beams are 25 W and i would like to have something brighter... :confused24:

Hey All. I've been looking for a pair of passing lamp sealed beams in Halogen to replace the incandescent beams on my '06 RSV. All I can find are 55 watt beams and I'd like to find something in a lower wattage to ease the strain on the stator and yet get more light than I'm getting right now. I'd like beams that will fit the factory Yamaha light buckets. Is this possible or am I looking for something that doesn't exist. Thanks in advance Rod.
