Well we havent had the Zumo but for a few weeks and already having problems. The Audio output jack seems to be buggy and have had a few lockups. Honestly I do like the Navigation and having MP3's on the same device but I have real doubts on this one being worth the 600.00. I don't need or want the XM feature and find myself using the screen buttons more than the ones on the outside body. I have seen some cool features on a few much cheaper units. One being the lane assist and the current speed limit on screen. The other models have better shortcuts to flip to the music player from the map screen as well. So I broke down and ordered a car model Garmin 765T. Even with buying the mount and power cord we wont break 200.00 and it really seems to have everything but the waterproofing (I think I have room for a baggy). I hope it works out...if not I will bite the bullet for a 660 or other model. Frank

Sorry for starting another thread on this but want to make sure as many people see it as possible. Ad has been posted in classifieds - http://www.venturerider.org/classifi...p?product=4266 Previous thread - http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=72204 Hope it isn't confusing... but to explain. DO NOT DELAY in ordering your shirts as this will be a one time run with no extra shirts produced. 100% pre-shrunk white cotton shirts with a red maple leaf on the side (9" tall/9" wide), VR.org crest on the back, and up to 3 lines of text embroidered on the front (name, screen name, and city/province). If you prefer the maple leaf on the sleeve this is available as well. Cost of shirts including HST (including $2/shirt for use of VR.org crest) is : mens - $18.50 ; womens - $20.25 (based on 50 units ordered). Shipping charges - I went to the post office and had them give me pricing for shipping 2 shirts and 4 shirts to BC and Manitoba. To BC - $12.50 for 2, $15.25 for 4 To Manitoba - $10.25 for 2, $12.75 for 4 Use this pricing to give a fair approximation of shipping to your location. Eg. Saskatchewan/Nova Scotia use $11.50 for two shirts, $14 for four You can also go to canadapost.ca to calculate shipping charges - two shirts weigh 500g. When calculating your cost, multiply quantity times mens/ladies price based on cost shown, and add shipping. If paying by PayPal (use Personal/Gift), when you submit via PayPal there is an option for the sender to pay the fee or the seller.... please accept "sender pays" . If doing online banking and sending money via email (probably easiest way) your bank will charge you a small fee - usually $1.50 This is purely at cost with no profit coming to me. My costs are : - Screen printer (based on 50 shirts ordered) : mens shirt $14.35, womens shirt $15.85 plus HST - Freebird - use of crest - $2 per shirt - Shipping - based on price received from Canada Post with 7 day delivery For International orders (U.S., Australia, UK) send me info regarding how many shirts you would like and your address and I'll get a price from the Post Office on shipping charge before you submit payment. Personal hand delivery is available within a reasonable distance from Kitchener to eliminate shipping costs. Clear as mud? Any questions please post here. Once we get the total number of shirts to print figured out, I will have the screen printer run the shirts. DO NOT DELAY in ordering your shirts as this will be a one time run with no extra shirts produced. Mens and Ladies sized S/M/L/XXL Let me know mens/ladies, size, screen name, leaf on side or sleeve. Make sure both your first name and your wife's is included so if you are ordering a shirt for your spouse we can have her name on the shirt too. eg: Don XV1100SE Kitchener ON Nancy XV1100SE Kitchener ON ---------------------------- For those in the London to Toronto area, I'll set up meet & eats in Toronto area, Brantford, London/Woodstock for delivery of the shirts. I'll order the shirts in the next two weeks (August 24th) so delivery should be beginning of Sept. Anyone else with orders... let me know. My email address is dtohivsky@bell.net. Payment can be by bank email transfer or PayPal. Cheques accepted ... and of course cash ! Make sure you indicate your screen name !

Could someone please tell me how to turn off the audio system? I've found in a manual that I should press and hold for couple seconds "Audio" button, but it's not turning the audio system off, the channel displayed on screen just starts blinking. I've tried all the possibles combinations of buttons but just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong

I don't normally praise a lot of companies but I have to say something about Garmin. I've owned a Zumo 550 for a number of years. Once I had a software issue after the warranty had run out and the service rep told me she had heard of this sort of thing happening on a rare occasion with some of the other units but never a Zumo. She said it was obviously nothing I did and sent me a new unit completely covered. Impressive!! Now recently I had the covering of the on/off button finally wear out and the unit got some water in it that made the screen hard to work and then it finally cracked. I'm pretty technically inclined so I openned it up and found the problem. I called Garmin to see if I could order a new screen and housing because the warranty was LONG over and the rest of the unit worked fine. They told me they didn't sell the parts but for $150 they would send a new or refurbished unit to me. That's pretty close to what I was thinking I would have to pay for the parts so I was pretty happy with that. They said I would receive the replacement 10-14 days after they received mine so I sent it off. Not only did I have the replacement 7 days after I sent mine but after careful examination I'm convinced this is a brand new unit. New software, maps and everything. They had even updated the serial number in my registration in MyGarmin so I didn't need to do anything for the new unit to be recognized. WOW!!!! Now that's customer service!! I am now a LOYAL Garmin customer.

A good friend of mine just got a new waterproof case for his iphone that also has a Handlebar mount for it that locks the phone into it. It is also waterproof to 2 meters. so it is completely rain proof. What this does is make your iphone into a motorcycle GPS with Music playback and phone integration. Coupled with a BT helmet headset and you have something that is better than the Zumo. http://www.lifeproof.com/the-four-proofs/ for the case. http://www.lifeproof.com/shop/accessories/mounts/bike-mount for the mount. They also have a mount for GOPro mounts. it has a cutout for the camera, so if you were to get a gopro mount and have it where it can see out the windshield, it also can act as a sport Camera, or an accident cam using the iCar app. You will not have the GPS screen on all the time, but you do get the voice prompts in your ears for turns, I find this to be better than having a screen to distract me. But the screen does light up for incoming calls so you can glance and see if you want to answer the call.

My seven year old son was amazed at the miller on the back porch. Dad he said, come take some pictures. One of God's amazing creatures. Their protection from being eaten. Thought I would share with you all. I touched the screen on the window and this is what you see. Fuzzy

This is a true story from the WordPerfecthelpline. Needless to say, the help desk employee was fired; however, he/she is currentlysuing the Word Perfect organization for "Termination without Cause." Actual dialogue of a former WordPerfect CustomerSupport employee with a caller: "Ridge Hall computer assistant; may I help you?" "Yes, well, I'm having trouble with WordPerfect." "What sort of trouble?" "Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words went away." "Went away?" "They disappeared." "Hmm. So what does your screen look like now?" "Nothing." "Nothing?" "It's blank; it won't accept anything when I type." "Are you still in WordPerfect, or did you get out?" "How do I tell?" "Can you see the C: prompt on the screen?" "What's a sea-prompt?" "Never mind. Can you move the cursor around on the screen?" "There isn't any cursor, I told you, it won't accept anything I type." "Does your monitor have a power indicator?" "What's a monitor?" "It's the thing with the screen on it that looks like a TV. Does it have a little light that tells you when it's on?" "I don't know." "Well, then look on the back of the monitor and find where the power cord goes into it. Can you see that?" "Yes, I think so." "Great. Follow the cord to the plug, and tell me if it's plugged into the wall." ".......Yes, it is." "When you were behind the monitor, did you notice that there were two cables plugged into the back of it, not just one?" "No." "Well, there are. I need you to look back there again and find the other cable." ".......Okay, here it is." "Follow it for me, and tell me if it's plugged securely into the back of your computer." "I can't reach." "Uh huh. Well, can you see if it is?" "No." "Even if you maybe put your knee on something and lean way over?" "Oh, it's not because I don't have the right angle - it's because it's dark." "Dark?" "Yes - the office light is off, and the only light I have is coming in from the window." "Well, turn on the office light then." "I can't." "No? Why not?" "Because there's a power outage." "A power... A power outage? Ah, Okay, we've got it licked now. Do you still have the boxes and manuals and packing stuff your computer came in?" "Well, yes, I keep them in the closet." "Good. Go get them, and unplug your system and pack it up just like it was when you got it. Then take it back to the store you bought it from." "Really? Is it that bad?" "Yes, I'm afraid it is." "Well, all right then, I suppose. What do I tell them?" "Tell them you're too stupid to own a computer."

Any one out there have one? how do you like yours; I'v had mine for a while now and just love it works like a charm. I been using it to log in here and post along with surfing the web, love the web top when hooked up to my TV. live streaming Netflix is very good not one problem with it yet. The dual core processor is very fast and the larger screen is much better for my old eyes over the smaller one on the droid one or two the voice to text is awsome!!! also the bigger screen makes it easy for my fat fingers to do the onscreen keypad. Need some advice guys. I picked up a refurb 'famous maker' (HP ) 23" LED monitor off WOOT a couple of weeks ago. Installed it using the VGA cable and I'm not getting any reds ecept when I bring up the internal RBG control menu. On the internal RGB adjustment the bar shows nice red/green/blue colors, but the screen is only shows BLUE and GREEN. Thought it might be the VGA cable so fiddled with it, but no improvement(red). The computor is a DELL XPS 400 that I picked up 2-3 years ago. I have no problem with the color display with the original Dell Monitor using their priority cable, but now I'm wondering if the original Graphics Card is doing it's job?? The optimum resolution is 1920x1080. I can get close and the screen is really sharp but the resolution adjustment only offers 13 something by 8 something?? WOOT offered to take it back at their cost, but I'm not ready to give up on this thing yet. Any ideas??

I want to get a shorter tinted windshield but not sure about size. Is the windshield measured from the base of the screen itself or from the top of the chrome strip it sticks out of? Mine measures 17" from the strip.

Went and test road an HD Road Glide Ultra today.. Nice bike, might be my next bike. Wind noise a little better than the RSV, engine noise about the same volume but less whiny, stereo way better, completely clear at 70mph. The seat and ergonomics were about the same as the RSV. The 103 engine has about the same hp as the RSV and more torque, yet comes with a 6 speed trans, seemed you could chose between three gears at any given speed. The handle bars were up too much for me, but just rotating them down should correct that, I don't think I would need different bars. There was a tiny bit of turbulence with the stock screen, but then is was short enough to look over, and even the stock RSV screen was taller than that, if I bent down a little and looked through the turbulence went away, so a different screen should correct that. I won't actually get serious about deciding whether to change bikes or not until next year when the warranty runs out on the RSV, but right now I have test ridden every brand touring bike except the Kawasaki Voyager, and the new BMW 1600GTL. Of the bikes I've ridden the only one I would consider replacing the RSV so far is the Ultra.

Hi Well since last yr when I would start my 83 VR I got a loud rattle from down under the bike. So today I took off the exhaust collector. I think it came off in a fare amount of time about 30 mins, So I made 3 cuts and folded the flap open. took out the screen that was loose. Now hears where Im not sure about something. On the inside there is a layer of screen that is tight to the skin or the top of the collector. It dosent feel or look loose can I leave it and weld the collector back up? Or should I try to get it all out? Also should I drill holes in the corners that I cut to stop any cracking before I weld? Thanks Bull463:fingers-crossed-emo

The little box with all the info. Time left in game, what down, yards to go, score and all that. It only shows on the edge of my screen. Can only see about a third of it. WHY??

Ok, I finally got around to replacing my original wind screen on my '84 with a new one from Cee Bailey. Got one 2" shorter than stock for a better line of sight over the screen. I've been using Plexus all the time to fight the swirls in the old one but after riding several of my friends bikes I really liked NOT seeing anything in front of me. I like clear. Now I have clear. Ok, so what I'm up to is this. I'm cutting the old screen down, a lot, to be not much more that 6" to 8" higher than the top of the fairing. Real short for those really hot days on summer. Get a lil wind in the face kind of thing. I want to try to apply the window tint film on the inside. I've done several cars and vans with the kits so I'm pretty handy with the stuff. And cutting it that short I get rid of the compound curve so that should make it pretty easy. The question is......anybody know if there might be any weird reaction with the screen and the adhesive on the film? I've read the posts on the spray tints but want to try the film to make sure I keep an even appearance. My only concern with the film is keeping the edges bonded to the surface but that can be covered with some flexible trim along the top edge. Thanks for any imput. Mike

I was wondering how tall the stock shield is? The former owner of my new to me 2004 Midnight Royal Star Venture cut the stock shield down and I get a lot of helmet air when I am riding. Yamaha Canada wants an outrageous price for one of theirs. I did look at a Tulsa screen and it looks like a good replacement. It is taller and wider, something I think my wife will appreciate. OK, I'm still rebuilding the BUB's and want to wrap the baffles with some stainless screen to slow down the packing from disappearing. I've looked all over and locally can't find the stuff anywhere. I've found it online but they want to sell me enough to cover the whole bike. Anyone know where I can find a small amount??

I'm researching for the best GPS nav system to add to my bike. I'm sure some of you have experiences (good and bad) that might help me with my decision. Obviously I want something that has a large readable screen. But, it also needs to be visible in an outdoor situation and not be prone to breakdown due to vibration. I'm not even sure what other criteria are important...you tell me!

A lot of you people have real neat screen names. Me, I am not creative at all - maybe my life is too boring to get called a handy nick name. Wondering how you came up with your screen name. Now there is a 2-year old boy that is calling me Mr. Krabs from the Spongebob Square Pants cartoon - I don't know who Mr. Krabs is or why he picked that out for me - maybe because I had a red shirt on and Mr. Krabs maybe has red claws? What is the consensus - should I change my screen name to Mr. Krabs? or is he a rotten character?

Bummer day Sunday. Had a new 660 all hard wired up to our RSTD. Wife and I wear the Scala G4 headsets. Updated software and firmware on all devices. I'm just relaying my experience. Not intended at all as a bashing on any product. We messed around and rode about 300 miles to test it out. I can't come up with any pro's at this time, so it's the cons that had me remove the tank and seat again last night to package the garmin zumo up for return. This was a new gps, not a refurb. 1. The screen was totally washed out. I understand there are aftermarket products made to shield or cover the screen. Not going there. For over 600 bucks, I should be able to view the screen in daylight. Being a motorcycle, my reason to purchase though was the bluetooth voice to headset ability. 2. Voice nav is crisp and clear in the car. Through the headsets, I experienced a lot of static and could not understand the street names or directions even around my neighborhood where I knew what the gps was supposed to be saying. Wife and I could not communicate through the intercom to each other clearly until I disabled the bluetooth on the gps. So for us, it's back to good ole' paper maps and spontaneous trips with more stops to rest our aging buttox numbness and point our fingers on the map to figure out where we're headed.
