  1. Does anyone know the actual name and part number for what we call the dogbones on the engine. The pieces that have to be taken off to replace the spark plugs. I torqued mine at 30 lb, but do not know for sure if that is right. For I do not know the actual name of the part and have not found it on the schematic here. Thanks, Fuzzy
  2. I am looking to hook up my heated gear.My plan was to run a relay off of a wire that is only hot when the bike is running. Does anybody know of such a wire on the RSDT? I have them on my cars and have had them on 2 Yamahas. I have studied the wiring schematic but I can't find one. Thanks
  3. Attached are redrawn schematics of the starting circuits for the 1st Gen's. I thought these might help people that have cranking & starting issues. There is a narrative above each circuit detailing operation. This text assumes a charged battery and intact fuses. There are three views of each circuit. Left side shows circuit in normal condition, key off, side stand down, transmission in neutral. Center view shows circuit with key on, transmission in neutral. clutch and side stand switches not shown as they are irrelevant in this configuration. All switches and relays shown in position to energize starting motor. RIght view shows key on, transmission in gear, side stand up and cluth pulled in. Neutral switch not shown as it is irrelevant in this configuration. All switches and relays shown in position to energize starting motor. Also, the side stand relay and Emergency stop sensor are shown. Neither of these affect the cranking circuit but will shut down the Ignitor unit. Actually, the bike will start and run with either of these pulled out. 84-85 one is almost identical to 86-93 version. Only difference is positive wire at starting solenoid coil. Gary
  4. Files Updated on 10/28/2009 Minor corrections done to both schematics. Text realigned for easier reading Gary I have completed the 1999-2009 Royal Star Venture schematics. The 99-09 Yamaha Royal Star Venture Wiring Diagram Rev B file shows all the connectors and resembles the wiring diagram in the 1999 Yamaha Royal Star Venture service manual that is referenced in the Second Gen and Royal Star Technical Library on this site. The 99-09 Yamaha Royal Star Venture Simplified Circuit Diagram Rev B file is the complete wiring for the bike in a much simpler format. Since the wiring connectors are not shown, components can be rearranged in a more logical format that reduces the wires running back and forth. Some of the switches are shown in a more convenient manner also. This file would probably be the one most used for trouble shooting. I have also added a legend to this group to help users understand the schematics better. If you find anything that needs changed on these schematics, let me know & I will fix it. The files will look best when plotted at 11" x 17" size or larger. Office Max, Kinko’s and Staples as well as others can do this for you for a minimal charge if you want a printout. I paid $1.00 for an 11" x 17" color print at Staples. All you have to do is take the PDF file that you download to their store and they can print it. Double click on underlined blue text below to down load the schematics in PDF format. Files were created in Adobe Acrobat 7.0. 99-09 Yamaha Royal Star Venture Wiring Diagram Rev B.pdf 1999-2009 Royal Star Venture From 1999 Yamaha Royale Star Venture Service Manual. Pages 9-7 & 9-8. PDF file pages 485 & 486 of 487. This file combines the MCU, Cruise Control Unit, Cruise switch & D.C. outlet systems on page #1. 99-09 Yamaha Royal Star Venture Simplified Circuit Diagram Rev B.pdf 1999-2009 Royal Star Venture I did this one from a blank sheet of paper. I could not find anything similar in the information I had available. 99-09 Yamaha Royal Star Venture electrical info.pdf This file is a compilation of various sheets from the 1999 Yamaha Royal Star Venture Service Manual that would be helpful when working with electrical system. They are not modified in any way, just as they appear in service manual.
  5. I have completed the initial pass on the 1986-1989 model years schematics. My goal in doing this is to make them easier to read and reduce the number of pages needed to display the information. I have used color and line types to make the wiring easier to follow. In some cases I could not use the exact color that is being represented due to visibility and printing issues. For example yellow is hard to see on the screen and does not print well. I have tried to check these as thoroughly as possible. Any errors, corrections or additions that anyone has, please send to me and I will update the files. I have been assisted by fellow member Ozlander with his help checking over my work. I do not have a bike to look at to verify some of this info. I have an 1983 without Cruise or CLASS systems that varies somewhat from the 1986-1989 models. As I update these files I will increment the revision letter at the end of the file name. The files will look best when plotted at 11" x 17" size or larger. Office Max and Staples as well as others can do this for you for a minimal charge if you want a printout. I paid $1.00 for an 11" x 17" color print at Staples. There are four different PDF files for the schematics and one with some reference information from the service manual. To open the PDF file, click on file name shown in blue below. 86-87 Yamaha Venture DS Wiring Diagram Rev A.pdf 1986-1987 Venture XVZ13DS/DSC From 1986-1993 Yamaha Venture Service Manual, page 8-41. They are not modified in any way, just as they appear in service manual.
  6. Does anyone have access to a readable copy of the 90-93 wiring schematic. The one that is in the 86-93 service manual is unreadable. I am nearing completion of redrawn schematics for the 86-93 models similar to the one I did for the 83-85 models. I can see that the three major changes to the 90-93 is the pick up coil change, fuel pump control relay & TCI unit. I need a readable schematic to get wire colors correct. Gary
  7. I started another thread so if any one had downloaded prior versions they would see the update. With help from Ozlander I believe that this is about as good as I can get this schematic. I have added the internal wiring on relays & rectifier. Added coil resistance on relays, generator & ignition coils. Added ignition coil #'s and location on bike. Added bulb p/n's. Cleaned up the wiring in handle bar switch area some more. Overall I have eliminated as many wire crosses as I can. Electrically, this matches what is in the owners manual. I didn't show internal wiring for flasher relay as it is fairly complex, not just a standard flasher. This looks best at 11" x 17" size. Office Max or Staples can print in color at that size for about a dollar. Dingy
  8. Ok I am running out of options. I got today a used TCI from a great member here and unfortunately it was bad. I cant find any on Ebay and I need one to hopefully finish out this years riding season. I'm going to tear into my Dead TCI as I have nothing to lose and see what is up, but without a schematic or any way to test it in a live working system I'll be shooting in the dark. I heard that an 84 TCI will run an 83 just not perfectly, Oh well it will get me on the road. So if you have a working TCI I'm after it. if you have a DEAD TCI I'd love it for the parts to see if I can fix mine. Thanks guys.
  9. I have drawn my wiring schematic into my CAD drafting program. Reason being I am adding cruise control from an 84. This will make it easier for me to do this. Attached is a PDF of schematic. I have tried to make it easier to read by adding some line types & colors so the wiring is easier to follow. There is a color code chart is at the lower left. I rearranged some of the components to eliminate wires crossing unnecessarily. The schematic is the same as the original in the 83-85 owners manual electrically, just rearranged. The only thing I am not sure about is the Diode pack, my bike only one diode in it. The block schematic shows three diodes in the circuit. The wiring schematic indicated two diodes. I did correct an error or two I found in the schematic, one being the ACC terminals in the fuse block. I would like to add the Ignition coil #'s if someone could furnish those also. I changed the graphics for the rear brake switch to match the front brake & clutch switches. It prints out best at 11" x 17" but few of you probably have a laser jet that size. Not to mention a color one. If anyone wants an 11 x 17 B&W copy, I will mail you one for the postage & envelope cost, probably a dollar. I am going to stop at Staples tonight and see if they can do color 11 x 17 prints if anyone is interested. I can get B&W prints up to 24" x 36". Dingy
  10. Would someone scan the wiring schematic that is in the back of the owners manual and post it or email to me please. I need a 83-85 Venture Royale schematic. I have a stock 83 Venture and am going to put cruise in from a 84 venture. I have the wiring harness that I may use to replace mine. I want to look at the schematic and see if there are any differences in the connectors besides the dash hookups. I think the brake/clutch switches are different also. Thanks dingy101@live.com
  11. does anyone have a diagram for the pin positioning for the communication system on the Venture. I need a schematic for the pins to make a new microphone, need to know which pins to use going in to the bike. Thanks guys.
  12. I am installing a CB on my scoot and need a wiring diagram of what wire is what on the CB unit ('86 and up) as well as the PTT/Channel switch assembly. I do not have the wiring assembly that goes with the CB installation so I need a schematic so I can hardwire the system. I know of at least one other member that may need the same information. Help!!!
  13. Anyone have the speaker wiring diagram showing the stock amp? I'm having the cutting out issue after adding an amp. Someone had mentioned they'd had issues with the stock amp doing that when it was turned up too high. Anyone have a schematic so I can find the stock amp and bypass it for my amp in the cassette door?
