Interesting article about Polaris' attempt to revive Indian motorcycles. I wish them the best, as it's always unfortunate to see any manufacturer go under. I found it interesting that, according to definition, our RSV's & RSTD's don't fit in the 'heavyweight' motorcycle classification. I think my RSTD is plenty heavy... http://www.forbes.com/sites/joannmuller/2013/01/02/polaris-rides-atv-and-snowmobile-success-in-bid-to-revive-indian-motorcycles/ Glenn

What factors influenced your decision to buy your Venture or RSTD. I wanted a HD Ultra but the pocket book said no way..... Then I found the RSTD's and it had all the equipment I wanted at the time at a fair price, how could I refuse.

I met up with a buddy at the Buc-cees in Pearland, thence to ride to a Texans-Cowboys party. I was gassing up when I spied a white RSTD right behind me. I went over and introduced myself. Then I introduced myself again because he had music in his helmet and didn't hear me the first time. LOL His name was Ed. I told him that I had to say hi, since RSTDs are so rare. He didn't realize that I was also riding one until I pointed it out. RSTDs are just so rare that you can hardly believe you are seeing one! I asked if he ever had heard of VentureRiders, and he told me that he is addicted to the site. Ed even knew who I was! I suggested that he join, because then he'd be more attuned to the fellowship. We had a meet n eat yesterday, he should have come! There are so many intangible and tangible benefits of this site! His is a pretty white 2006, set up solo. Other than that, it is pretty stock. Really clean. He came over to look at Roxie, and declared her really tricked out. I don't think so, but she isn't stock. I pointed out my airhorn as one mod I did that I found important. He told me he'd been trying to figure out how to add the horn. Well, no need to struggle! Join the site and send up a flare! We're all happy to help. Honestly, Ed, you don't need to join the site. Send me a PM if you are able, and I'll come help you figure out your airhorn. And more. But you really ought to think about joining the rabble. We're like family: completely dysfunctional! Dave

Well I was trying to avoid doing this myself but as my bike is a ltttle custom now I just dont want to let anyone just touch it. I was gonna let one fellow do it but he since disappeared. I assume he is afraid of scratching it. Im a good wrench myself so I guess its up to me. Not that I cant do it but I have never done it. First off what tools will I need and also what shims should I get. Id rather buy a kit because I have quite a few RSVs and RSTDs around so Im sure this will be the first but not the last. What gaskets will I need. Most of all where do I get it. I do plan a little phone time with Goose to get the procedure down but Im looking for parts and special tool help. Scotty

Hello everyone - Shep here and I am new to the community and just bought a brand new 2007 RSTD from the dealer. I need a few things and thought I would start here. Moderators - if this is the wrong place - please direct me to the correct forum or fell free to just more this post. Here is what I need....... 1. Pipes - gotta have some rumble - will to trade brand new RSTD's for something with rumble OK - solved - bought the Baron 4-2-4's and so far - love 'em! 2. Luggage rack - momma needs more room... Bought one from Alan here on the forums :>) 3. Would like to lower an inch or so - so that I can get my gelpad on and still touch the ground. Had Rick Butler modify my seat (good job Rick!) 4. I need some longhorn offsets (have pegs) so I can cool my feet off Done! - Went with Kury's 5. Wife needs her floorboards a little lower and forward - I am open to suggestions (inventive and cheap is always good). Found a good mod - but will need to do this myself.. (check out this thread: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=28341) Got them done and working - now need to contour, sand and paint. 6. How about lightbars and lights? I am a former Boulevard C-50 owner and had them on my bike - would like them on my RSTD - where can I get them? Ordered a set of Yamaha light off Ebay. 7. Install Stebel Horn Got that done this week! 8. Bought and installed backrest (very nice addition). 9. Ordered and installed - Flanders 650-08783 pull backs. That should keep me busy for a while Last question: Does the community (forums) here have a place where new owners of RSTD's can get a list of "mods" - perhaps part #'s used in those mods and maybe even a respective "cost" analysis? On the Volusiariders forums we had a couple of very useful forums - one called "swap meet" - for trading parts and the other was "Custom Mods" - that owners had done to their bikes. We very helpful to me when I first signed on - because many had "gone before me". Thanks ahead of time for all your help - I look forward to getting to know you folks and to the fellowship! Shep

Looking for a set of RSTD's. Mine were damaged in the accident. I had a second set but I had drilled them out completely and they are too loud for me. Anybody have a set they want to sell? Or trade for a loud set of RSTD's.

Hi all, I have not been an active member of this group, but I have been impressed with your great sense of comradery and spirit. Proof of this is found in the tremendous activity and discussion on and off the board. I thank Freebird for his kindness during my ownership of the RSTD. I traded the RSTD today for a Road King Classic. The Yamaha is a great machine, and anyone who gets one will be fortunate although I never did fall in love with mine. FYI, I spoke with a dealer who told me that he had been selling leftover 07 RSTD's for 8995.00. Unfortunately, that did not help me sell my RSTD. Rebates are also liberal on the 08's as well. The dealer is J & J Motors in Massilon, Ohio. He may have one or two left. Finally, I read that Mean Dog's memorial will be held about 7 miles from my home. I hope to meet you on the 29th of June as I pay my respects to the memory of a very nice man. Best Wishes, Deerjunky

A few weeks ago I gave out the number for Bendix brake pads for the Venture. I gave the number as MA113. That is the number for the first generation RSTDs not Ventures. Sorry I gave you the wrong info. I don't know the number for the Venture. tew47
