Ok, I found the idea for a tool to hold the damper rod in the forks . Simple enough, makes me wonder why I didnt think of it. Anyhow, can anybody tell me if a 15/16" bolthead will fit the damper rod on my 89VR? If not what size is it? Black Owl said he thinks it is a 17mm, but here in east Tn, the boys at home depot don't speak in mm. Just the same Black Owl, thanks for the input.

well I changed the front tire yesterday, I have an issue with the lift adapter. I couldn't get the holes to line up If I pushed the rod in from the right side (brake) through I could get three of 4 holes and missed the last one by half the diameter of the rod( Might have been able to force it) if I tried from the left (shifter) side I could only get two holes, no matter which way I moved the adapter around. Is there an adjustment (grinding one of the tabs) or is there a trick I'm missing? its funny I've had the adapter almost a year and haven't needed it till now. With the GF out of town was gonna fix tire last night (done) and detail the bike today (if I can figure this out) i'm gonna subscribe via instant alert so if anyone has an idea it'll shoot right to my phone.

Blind Cashier at Bass Pro: A woman goes into Bass Pro to buy a rod and reel for her grandson's birthday. She doesn't know which one to get, so she just grabs one and goes over to the counter. The clerk was standing behind the counter wearing dark glasses. She says to him, "Excuse me, sir. Can you tell me anything about this Rod and reel?" He says, "Ma'am, I'm completely blind; but if you'll drop it on the counter, I can tell you everything from the sound it makes." She doesn't believe him but drops it on the counter anyway...... He says, "That's a six-foot Shakespeare graphite rod with a Zebco 404 reel and 10-LB. test line. It's a good all-around combination, and it's on sale this week for only $20.00." She says, "It's amazing that you can tell all that just by the sound of it dropping on the counter. I'll take it As she opens her purse, her credit card drops on the floor. "Oh, that sounds like a Master Card," he says. She bends down to pick it up and accidentally farts. At first she is really embarrassed, but then realizes......there is no way the blind clerk could tell it was her who tooted. Being blind, he wouldn't know that she was the only person around? The man rings up the sale and says, "That'll be $34.50 please." The woman is totally confused by this and asks, "Didn't you tell me the rod and reel were on sale for $20.00? How did you get $34.50?" He replies, "Yes, ma'am. The rod and reel is $20.00, but the Duck Call is $11.00, and the Catfish Bait is $3.50." She paid it and left without saying a word.

I have searched all night and can't seem to find the brass bushing for the clutch lever. I found the one that pushes the rod to actuate the clutch but I can't find the one where the bolt goes thru for the lever itself. Mine is egg shaped and the handle wobbles around quite a bit. Anyone know if this is replaceable? It's not shown on the Star parts list only the one that pushes the rod. Scott

http://news.consumerreports.org/cars/2012/04/brake-failure-spurs-recall-of-3000-can-am-spyder-bikes.html Consumer Reports Apr 16, 2012 11:30 AM Bombardier Recreational Products has recalled certain 2010 Can-Am Spyder models due to the potential for a complete brake failure. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 3,259 Can-Am Spyder RT roadsters from model year 2010 are recalled because a pin securing the brake pedal connecting rod could come loose and fall off without warning. BRP will notify owners this week and dealers will replace the brake pedal connecting rod free of charge. Owners may contact BRP at 1-888-638-5397 When we sampled the Can-Am Spyder, we found it bulky and reluctant to corner. Several of our riders felt they much prefer bikes with two wheels. However, the Can-Am Spyder does have antilock brakes, which is an important safety feature. See which other motorcycles and scooters have this life-saving technology.

Warning do not get a droid from Verizon. Their insurance and warrante is worthless. They know that the chip goes bad after 2 years but will not warrante your $499.00 phone after you have paid for years with no claim. You get nothing even if you have been a customer for 15+ years. Pass it on so they screw less people. Rod

The guy bought another one to street rod and took the interior and good chrome off this one. So, I'm looking for 53 Mercury parts! Runs great and is going to be fun!!!

I was looking at one of my street rod magazines today and came across this web site for hot rod batteries crystal cell technology??? http://www.hotrodbatteries.com/ One model (HRB 11) is even smaller (5.125 x 3.250 x 6.500) than the RSV battery(6.875" x 3.4375" x 6.125") with 375 cranking amps. Looks like the HRB 14 with 475 cranking amps would work too. They don't advertise the price so I'm sure it must be kind of high considering a 100% replacement five year warranty. Just thought I would through it out there for anyone who might be interested. If nothing else, I think I might look into one for my street rod.

I am in the middle of changing the fork seals on my 89 venture and wouldn't you know it. I ran into a snag. I got one fork off successfully and now i cant get the bottom bolt that screws into the damper rod out of the other one. It seems the damper rod is spinning inside. The trusty shop manual says I need to use a damper rod holder "ym-01328" and a T-handle to hold it. (Sounds expensive) Does anyone have a trick or tip for this secret tool? Would a 24mm bolt welded onto a 3' rod work? or maybe even a good ole broom stick?

I ran into a former employee, the one who told me he used to text while riding his crotchrocket down the interstate. He, at the time, told me he quit riding cause he didn't want to kill himself. Well he started riding again, crested a rise going into a very shallow turn (his words) which he missed due to excess speed (110+mph). He went of the road and hit a 4x4 with both shins, both legs broken and hanging by the calf muscle. Since he lost his phone in the crash, he had to drag himself back to the road and wait for someone to flag down. He lost his left leg below the knee, has a rod in his left femur, a rod in his right leg, scarring from a trach (sp?) -- he was out for several weeks-- and and some other "minor" scarring. At least he was wearing a helmet. He has a prosthesis on his left leg, they had to replace the rod in his right leg with an antibiotic one due to infection which will be switched back to a regular rod this week and they will have to do something about the shin bone not growing back. But he's alive! So much for one upmanship and reckless driving. At least he knows it was his own doing and he does have a good outlook on his future.

We laid my Dad to rest yesterday. He loved the out doors; camping, motorcycling, running, walking, hunting and fishing. He held on long enough to get to know his grandson from Tennessee that he had never met. Thanks to all of you that offered up prayers, it worked. He is out of pain and in a better place. Rod
