Made it to the "International Motorcycle Supershow" here in Toronto today. Lots of people and interesting bikes. Here are just a few. The first is a 1901 model, complete with wood rims, a kerosene headlight and a luggage rack. Also saw this Slingshot.

First off, Happy New Years everyone! Hope to get a chance to ride more this year with ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Been having an issue since Biketoberfest with slow leaks in both tires. Running Avon Venoms, maybe 8k on them. tires seem to be in ok shape and have bunches of tread on them. I'd like to think they have plenty of miles left. Went down, filled both to specs and sprayed some soapy water on them. Both of them are leaking badly on both sides of the rims???????????????? I've removed both and hope to get them to the stealer tomorrow to have them busted down and hopefuly resealed. Is this wishful thinking or do I need new tires or worse new rims??????????????????????????

Has anyone ever thought about having their VR Rims chromed?, or would it even work? Just a thought.

Finally got spare rims finished, got the new Venoms mounted (after half an hour of cursing and fighting the tire tools) and tonight swapped out the front rim. All I can say is WOW, what a difference over the Dunlops. Since I had both tires on rims, I was able to compare them side by side. Even with the rotors on the new rims, the venom weighed at least 4lbs less than the dunlop. On the bike it was even more of a difference, steering is light, bike flicks like my FJ1200. Very impressed. Tomorrow it's going to be the rear if I can work up the enthusiasm to tear the whole rear of the bike apart. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j27/Vermincelli/Venture/IMG_0827.jpg Unfortunately I get to pull the front back off in a month. fork seals have had it. I just had to see how the new tires looked and handled.

I sure like the looks of this thing but don't have $900.00 to spend on it. I do have the cheap Harbor Freight model that I have never used. I think I've bought tires 3 times since getting it and always end up getting lazy and taking the rims to a local shop to have them mounted. Part of the problem is that I haven't take the time to bolt down the changer. I really like this hitch mount setup and may look at building some sort of adapter like that for mine. http://www.webbikeworld.com/Motorcycle-tires/motorcycle-tire-changer/

I have been using Ride-On for several years now and have been happy with the product. Now I have some doubts. Last year when I changed my tires the shop had complained at how bad the Ride-On had gunked up the rims inside and he had a heck of a time trying to clean up the area. This time I had the shop pull the tires off and I brought the rims home to clean up myself prior to having the new tires installed. I couldnt believe the mess that was in there. Most of the Ride-on was caked on and thick. I had to use Goo Gone and a razor to scrape away the mess. Then used a wire detail brush and 150 grit sandpaper to finish off the inside of the rims. Most of the sealer was built up around the area that the tire seats to the rim (bead area). It worked its way up between the bead and the rim too. Some have said that it just wipes away.....not in this case. I spent several hours cleaning those rims and I still have a bit more to go on the front rim. This is not a condemnation of the product as it works well, but rather a warning to those who use it that when you change tires, clean up the mess inside at each tire change, not wait until several changes to do so. It just might save you some valuable riding time.

Just bought the HF tire changer w/ motorcycle adaptor today, going to put some widewhites on my '06 RSV this weekend. My question ..... is there enough clearance on the HF changer to leave the brake discs on the rims or do they need to come off? I was planning on carefully working around them. I haven't taken off my wheels yet but just looking at the changer it looks like it'll be very tight fit with the rotors on the rims. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Larry
