  1. I went to change the rear tire on the '83 for my brother, and when I finally got the tire off the rim, I saw that the Ride-On in the tire had dried up and turned into a big mess. First when I went to break the bead loose, it was much harder than normal to break, and when it finally gave in, a big cloud of dust came out of the tire. It seemed that the Ride-On had glued the tire to the rim. I worked on cleaning the rim with water and a wire brush, but the Ride-On didn't disolve comletely. Anybody have any ideas on what to use to help clean up the rim? On the Ride-On web site, they say that it wont dry up, but obviously they aren't telling the complete truth. In their defense, the Avon tire has been on the bike for 8 years and 22,000 miles, but......
  2. Nothing popped up here when I started but I know there are some topics related to this subject. Ride-On. Or whatever it is called. Is it really worth it and for those who use it would you use it again?
  3. I thought I ordered Ride-On a few yrs ago and got three bottles for around 21 bucks. Now lowest listing I can find is about 14 bucks a bottle. Has it raised that much??? This Garage is putting a major dent in my savings. Gotta watch it the Boss claims. Money for the Hot Tub and Big Screen is in jepordy.
  4. Mounted my new E lll last night. Aired it up left it sit and put it back on bike this morning. Bounced it and then forgot to check air. Rode a little and checked it and it was about 15 lbs low. Then happened to think I forgot to balance the blasted thing. So I thought I have a bottle of Ride-On. I could balance and fix leak at same time. Bright ain't I?? Took it home, let all air out put Ride-On in and aired it back up. Took it for ride to settle Ride-On in. Got about 1/2 mile and it started that dreaded wobble. Got stopped and tire was flat!! Had came completely broke loose from one side of rim. Limped it back home, aired it up and got it to seal. Took it for ride and ended up pushing it pretty hard just to check it. No problems at all and seems to be balanced pretty well. Have no idea how much of the Ride-On I lost. Some of it was splattered on bike but not much. Kind of hard to look in tire. Now I don't know if I can trust the thing or not. I pushed it thru some 30 mph turns this evening at 55 to 60. Hung right in there. (I was Mad and acting stupid) I said acting goo...aww nevermind!!! Think I should just ride it??
  5. Hi folks, looking fo some ideas on how to secure my venture in the back of a big u-haul. I will not have time to ride it up to the northeast, but I am drivinga big u-haul up. There is no tie-downs on the floor to secure to, there is tie-downs on the sides but I don't trust em. Seen a few pictures of a ride-on platform that I could put in the back, but they are pretty expensive. any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
  6. Just wondering if we still get a 10% discount from Ride-on when we order from them? Has anyone ordered from them lately or know of anyone that might have a couple of bottles the would like to sell?
  7. I know this is a long shot, but I figured it would be worth a try. I am in the process of getting my rear tire replaced and like the bonehead I am, I managed to forget to order some ride-on for the replacement. Kicker is, I'll be departing for a 6k mile [work] trip *snickers* bright and early Monday morning so I won't get it in time if I order it now. So. My question is if YOU are within 300 miles of Lubbock (or would be willing to meet with me within some distance of that therein) and have 8oz of ride-on you'd be willing to sell me (or give and I'll have a replacement sent to your place) let me know. I would really appreciate it!
  8. Found this on another site.... Ride-On Works I myself am using it in EVERYTHING that I own that has Tires. So far two years later and all is well. . 432.1 Noticed what looked like a small nail stuck in my rear tire today. Thought I'd let the air out of my tire and see what it was (I had 36 psi in my tire last time I checked several months ago - checked it today and I had 34.5 psi). I found this: http://s275.photobucket.com/albums/jj318/PianoV/Tire%20-%20Quarter-inch%20Bolt%20Breach"]http://s275.photobucket.com/albums/jj318/PianoV/Tire%20-%20Quarter-inch%20Bolt%20Breach[/COLO/"]http://s275.photobucket.com/albums/jj318/PianoV/Tire%20-%20Quarter-inch%20Bolt%20Breach"][color=#99000 Obviously that bolt had been in my tire for some time because of the wearing off of the hex head. IMHO, the combination of sealing the rear rim, a tubeless steel-belted radial car tire and the application of Ride-On Tire Sealant not only saved the day, but made the event a non-event. I'm impressed. EDIT ":: Sorry Guys I can not seem to get the link to work yet.
  9. The front tire pressure has been dropping about 30 lbs in a week. I pulled off the wheel today and there was no obvious damage. I sprayed a soapy mixture around the rim and there is bubbling around a good portion of the bead area on both sides. When this tire was installed about 2000 miles ago there was no leaks. The last few weeks it began to leak. Yes, there is Ride-On sealent in there too. Prior to installing the tire I had cleaned the inside of the front and rear rims of all the old gunked up Ride-On in there. The rims had a nice clean surface especially the bead area. Rear wheel is fine. Any ideas here? I filled the tire to 80 lbs in the hopes it would seat better but its still leaking. Another thought came to me. Since the tire is narrower than the 150, do you think its possible that the 130 is just a poor fit? I know another member who is having the same issues and hes running a 130 also.
  10. I have a complete Kit boxed up and ready to go. This Kit sells for $44.95 and contains everything listed below. Donate $30 to this Site and I will ship the Kit to you FREE anywhere in the USA. 11. Has anyone here replaced a tire that Ride-On had been used in?? Was it still as water soluable as when it was put in? Any mess when it was taken off the rim???
  12. Ride On Tire Puncture Sealant Test Did an experiment today with Ride-On. The Ride-On was introduced into the tire from day one of tire replacement. Before replacing the rear Avon Venom @ 20,000 Km I decided to find out if Ride-On actually worked. Since I’ve been using Ride-On from Day 1 of purchasing my 05 Midnight, 90,000 Km and 5 tire changes later I’ve never experienced a flat or puncture. Was the $14.00 a bottle peace of mind justified? I decided to find out. The experiment was conducted at my dealership where I get my tires replaced. The dealership owner and I conducted the experiment. Ride-On introduced into new tire. Rode the tire for approximately 20,000 Km with Ride-On in it Tire pressure was 41 lbs @ start of test With bike on center stand a roofing nail was hammered into a groove on the contact patch. With a chalk line around the nail insertion site, the nail was removed Slightly audible hissing sound could be heard by both of us and you could feel air escaping. Started the engine and spun the tire for 5 Km. as per instructions from Ride-On. Shut the bike off and checked the tire. We could no longer hear any hissing or feel any air escaping. The nail hole seemed to have sealed up. Tire pressure was holding at slightly less than 41 lbs Still holding after 10 min So we tried hammering in a ¼ in. sheet metal screw with a hammer but could not get it to insert. We then used an impact gun to drive in the metal screw No air loss Used the impact gun to reverse the screw out of the tire (as per Ride-On instructions) As the screw was reversing out of the tire we noticed a shot of spray from the hole left by the removed screw which stopped almost immediately. Rolled the tire so the puncture was at the lowest point. Did not have to spin the tire as the leak had already sealed itself. Total loss was less than one lbs. of air After sitting for an hour the tire was still holding air pressure at 40 lbs before tire was removed for replacement. Observation: with Ride–On in the tires I had not added any air to both front and rear tires since I stored the bike last fall in an unheated garage, then rode it up till now 15,000 Km later. After the test the dealer was so impressed that he asked to keep the nail and screw to show his customers. Conclusion: Ride-On does what it proclaims to do. Now if only I could figure out a test to see if Deer whistles really work :whistling:
  13. Called up my local dealer about slow leak in tire. He says the product they carry is for off road motorcycles only. Recommended using 1/2 can of Fix-A-Flat. I don't think so I heard it is not recommended for motorcycles. Is there anything over the counter locally that is comparable to ride-on? It's $50 to buy a 3 bottle kit on line direct. Do you want it this week add an extra $15 for express shipping.I don't know anything about the Slime product.I'm tempted to order the ride-on but I need it ASAP.
  14. Had a flat when I left work yesterday. Found a small whole, muscled it to Wal Mart next door to work and filled it up. Road home got up this morning and its still good. Tire was kind of Ify anyway, so I'm going to wait on the new one before I ride again. But for what its worth, if you have Ride-On in the tires and a way to inflate them when you get a puncture you can "RIDE-ON".
