Hey all you folks that use the maps of the USA and Canada on your sig line...how in the world, or where...did you get that couple of maps, that you can color in for each state you have ridden through, and the Canadian provinces ???? Is it going to piss anybody off if I color in every state...except Hawaii, and also color in all the Canadian provinces. Yes, I have in fact ridden to all 48 lower states, and ridden all over Alaska, and ridden to all the Canadian provinces. In fact, did all 48 lower states in less than 10 days. So, please...tell me where I can get one of those cool sig line maps. Thanks, Miles Million Mile Rider AMA - IBA:bighug:

I have my 84 Venture stripped down as I was doing a bunch of work on it getting ready for my first season - coming up soon! YEAH! Anyways, has anyone taken one of these bikes and stripped it down and ridden the bike without all the extra plastic? Does is look ok? Any opinions out there???? Thanks

I spend well over an hour yesterday trying to find a couple of specific patches. I would like to find a patch (or patches) that are "fill in the color" for Europe or the world. I have a USA/50 state patch already. I have ridden in Ireland, Spain and Australia and I would sure like to have those patches. Can anyone point me to a website that has those?

My 1999 RSV has had a lot of work done to it since I purchased it last year. The original owner let it sit for a couple of years. Upon going through it I had to repair wiring in the fairing due to mice as well as replace air filters with the same problem (MICE). I had the carbs rebuilt and synched..replaced all worn parts along with all the fluids, new tires, brakes amongst add-ons. I relayed the passing lights and installed a mic-mute along with a GPS. I also put a small fuse block in for the accessories with a relay. Everything is on ignition hot. I replaced the battery with a new fully charged one. It has been on for about two months. Yesterday I get it out for a ride and when I went to start it, it wouldn't..I hadn't ridden it for two weeks or so and a keep a battery tender on it. It fires up usually on the first hit of the switch.. It seems as though the battery didnt have enough juice to start it. I used another battery to jump start it and it started just fine. I rode it for about 40 miles to a friends house. When I tried to restart, the same thing. Had to jump it again. Once it fires, it runs great. I brought it back home and cut it off. I waited a few and it fired right back up only it was a little weak. Checked the battery and it was 12.9 volts. A few minutes later no start...So my question is battery, starter, stator, starter relay? I also have an oil leak that only drips after I have ridden it for a while. It quits after a few drops. Comes from the left side but cant find its origin...Thoughts? The help is greatly appreciated...

Did the photo shoot today for the Bagger Shield and I got my new windshield! Looks great, nice breeze with it down. Haven't ridden enough yet with it up to make any comments. Here's the pic......

Hey all, Been lurking here for sometime while shopping for 'the one' for me, think I have found it!! A beautiful 2001 rsv with only 11k mi. only complaint is the screaming clutch..... Have read a lot of your input in the tech section and plan on some wrenching, sure I'll have lots of questions for you'll. I have ridden gold wings for years and used to the silky smooth 6 cylinder I guess, but love the looks of these ventures!!!!! I live in central Ar. on scenic hwy 7 later, yammer

I have noticed a small oil drop on the floor directly below a breather tube on the front of the motor. I have about 1500 miles on this oil change, oil level is ok in the sight glass. This has just happened the last 3 times I have ridden, not ever before. I have it in the garage on a clean floor and would have noticed it before. Any ideas? Thanks, Pat

In the Texas panhandle, I was lucky to get 30mpg on my 99 RSV, but here Kentucky Im averaging in the high 30's with a new high of 39mpg on today's fill up. It's the first time I've ever ridden the bike 200 miles on the same tank of fuel. Maybe it's finally broken in with 101,700 miles on it. About this time last year, I was complaining about not getting 160 miles to a tank of fuel!!

Had a set of Dunlop E3's installed this afternoon...(selected largely on the reviews of the fine folks of this here site) initial impressions are that they are much better than the original Bridgestones it had on it. Have not really got them scuffed in, or ridden enough to talk handling but the front is SO much quieter than the Bridgestone was! That was the noisiest tire I have ever had on a bike.

If the bike isn't ridden for a couple of days one of the valves makes alot of noise, it will clear up after being ridden for awhile, I was told at the KAW shop that this was normal because since they are hydraulic, it leaks down. Would someone please tell me if he is correct. My warranty expires in Mar. and would like to have the problem taken care of, my pockets aren't that deep. Thanks and ride safe Truckin48

The time has come to get rid of my 1st gen. This bike is just not for me.It is a great bike but I use it as a daily rider. The Venture needs to be ridden two up and out touring the country and not ridden daily to work.I am loaning the bike to a friend of mine that may be interested in buying it.If not I will place it in the classifieds.I really miss my Vstar as a daily rider.

Finally, it got warm enough here in Iowa to go for a ride. I put my Khromewerks pipes on and installed my Corbin Seat - and had enough time this afternoon to ride around Newton. What a great day! I would have ridden longer but our church is showing the videos, "Laugh Your Way To A Better Marriage" tonight. Highly recommend the ride and the video!!!

my turnsignals seem to have a mind of their own. some times they work, some times they dont, the hazard switch works when the signals work. seems to me, that something with the self cancel is buggering up. is there a way to delete, bypass, remove this feature, and just have the signals work from the switch? ive ridden for years, and its habit to cancel them myself anyway, id rather just have em work when i want em to. any help??

What do you think the value for a 1998 Royal Star Tour Deluxe should be? I have my eyes on a very well loaded, low mileage machine that is lady ridden. I have friends who know the bike and it has not been down. It may be worthwhile to buy and sell later.

I've ridden a motorcycle since 14 years of age. Got a motorcycle license shortly after I turned 16. Didn't have a car license till I turned 19. Bikes ridden include : Suzuki T250 70's model(wish I had it back), 175 Yamaha Enduro, 1969 honda 350 (extreemely top heavy) 197? 650 triumph(shifter/brakes on wrong side), Yamaha RD 400 (last 2 cycle street, twisted speedo cable off) 2000 Rm 250 Suzuki(wild ride above 5000 rpm), 2002 DRZ 400 Suzuki(to heavy for woods riding), 2005 Vstar 650(perfect well balanced 300 mile bike), 2007 Midnight Venture. Now that you know my backround, my first impresssion of the 07 RSMV was that she was heavy. After 5 mph it all went away. I felt like I was riding my 650 V-Star. That is until I foolishly tried a "leaning " 180 turn on a narrow back road. I ALMOST dropped Her! This bike is a wonderful ride, but, you must keep in mind her sweet spot. If you get more than 3 inches off center below 5 mph , you better have long, strong, leggs. I just about dropped her doing a 180 on a narrow back road that I could have rode 360's on my 650 V-star on all day long. Other than that, I was truely impressed. I've ridden Harleys and I must say I like this bike much better. Never rode a Honda GW. Notes: felt the wind from the top of my kee cap to about 6 inches below on my shin. Probably good in the summer but bad in the winter. Rest of body was well protected. Windshield is slighty above eye level. I can straighten up and look over stock windshield in the rain. I am 6' tall with a 29 inch inseam. Can hold this bike up flatfooted. I'll write more later. Would definately purchase this bike again. Might try the risers to improve the slow speed turning characteristics though.

Hello Everyone! New Gnu @ the Watering Hole......first order of business......where are the lions?? Gotta keep an eye out for them!! Seriously tho'. I had my trial subscription for abt a week and found so much to offer I felt guilty taking it for free, so dropped my $12 and became a member. Last Oct. I bought a 98 Royal Star Standard from a friend of a friend. I'd ridden before but this is my 1st big cruiser. AND I'M LOVIN IT!! She was well taken care of but ridden seldom (only 6k miles)and the owner bought another bike so this one had to go. $3K later and I was riding her home. Looking forward to getting to know and hopefully meeting/riding with some of you. Hoping for a get-to-gether in FL so I can see some of the other great rides on here in person (and steal ideas!!). Once again, Nicetameecha. AwesomePossum (a.k.a. Keith) p.s. The chatroom is verrry cool!

I have ridden Vstar 1100's the last several years and I noticed that I could ride much further with the driver backrest then I could without. I can only make a couple hundred miles on the Vstar before my lower back says enough. I plan on riding some three day weekends and try to meet a few of you wonderful people out there on my 84 1st gen. It seems pretty comfy but I have not ridden far yet. Would it be worthwhile to pickup a backrest if one comes available or in your experience, does the stock seat bode well?
