I have been in helmet shopping hell for the last few weeks. My RF1000 has had it after 7 years and with the RSV being more comfy I have noticed a lot more pain trying to do a little longer rides. I was really hoping to get into a modular helmet. First I ordered the Scorpion Exo 900 modular. Great helmet...feels solid, nice fit and finish with great features. But the 3xl was too small front to back and my chin touched the chin bar. Second was a Icon Aliance in 3xl. Not a modular but great price at 160.00. Still a great looking helmet and would have been great but too snug and more for a round shaped head. We found an Arai Profile in xl and RX-Q in 2xl. The Profile was too small but crazy comfy and probably would be great in a 2xl. The RX-Q in 2xl did actually fit pretty well. The problem with these two was price (Profile 480.00) (RX-Q 525.00). I don't mind the dough but I am still hoping to find a modular someday. So after seeing a review on the new RF1100 I liked the 5 different shell sizes, venting, improved sealing and removable liner. Found it locally in 3xl(hair too big) and xl (hair too tight). Looks like the Qwest is a cruiser version of the RF1100, venting changed for upright position and non removable liner. The Qwest comes in cheaper at 315.00. I decided to order the RF1100 in Metallic Black, 415.00 from Revzilla. Good service and awesome helmet. It's early yet, only have a quick 50 mile ride on it but no hotspot at all. Nice padding and washable liner. Even has nice pockets molded in for headset speakers. It seems to be quiet and possibly good airflow (hard to tell behind the windshield). When I poke my head out of the air bubble I can feel air moving. Fit and finish are excellent, the visor is like butter and you can feel it suck shut when closed. So if you have a larger hard to shape head, give this a go. I see lots of comfy miles in my future.
