I am the proud and humbled owner of a brand new F4Customs windshield. This is the largest shield available for the Venture that F4 makes at this time and it does have the integrated vent. Model # F4-YRSV-19_5-W-VENT-C 19.5" Clear Wide After talking with Don, he suggested that I start a thread here so I can add too it as I need to while giving a review of the shield. Once the review is done, we will make it a report and move it to the library. My intentions are to bring both the good and the bad. In doing this, I am basically going to review this in the form of a Diary listing just about every ride, the things noticed about the shield, cleaning, wear, gas mileage changes and any thing else that may pop up related to the windshield. Should you have any questions post them and I will answer to the best of my ability. So, to get started: I received the windshield nicely packed in a box and protected what I consider well enough to protect it under most shipping circumstances. Mine did come in with the box a little crushed. I was a little concerned until I was able to unpack it. As you can see the box was a little crushed Shield out of box and out of packing material Unwrapped face down - unwrapped face up Notice that the shield also had a protective coating of plastic stuck to it. Below are a few measurements. Now for a few comparison pics. I have my OEM in front of the F4. The black is on my original OEM, NOT the F4 and the F4 still has the sticky protective plastic on it. This should be enough to hold you for a few moments at least... I did take my first ride with it this past Tuesday. I will post some more shortly.

Greetings all, Just had a look at a review of the 2012 Second Gen and it includes a photo of what is purported to be the motor of the bike. First time I've heard of an air cleaner for a 2G mounted between the pots. Who is having a go at whom here, and can anybody identify the motor? http://www.topspeed.com/motorcycles/motorcycle-reviews/yamaha/2012-yamaha-royal-star-venture-s-ar117728.html (N.B. - I just had a look at this link here and the photo of the motor DOES NOT appear, only a description. I originally found it by Googling. See if you can find the same review and also see if the photo of the motor shows up.)

Well, after steady progression on my right eye, with everything doing good, I had a setback this past weekend. I went to the VA eye clinic Monday morning and they did a review and set me up with the eye surgeon visit this morning. After a review there, I am now scheduled for surgery tomorrow. It appears I have a detached retina and macular edemia along with some scar tissue. When it rains, it pours. At this point, I can not see anything with my right eye other than a very bright pin point light. I hate to be pesimistic, but I do not feel good about what vision I might get back. RandyA

Has anyone read the June Cycle World review of the new BMWK1600? A friend described the article as the bike being the most magnificient bike they have ever ridden. Everything from the motor to suspension to brakes to handling is flawless. Puts the Goldwing out to pasture, but you have to part with $26K. I havent seen the article yet.

I was wondering if anyone here has one of these trailers. I really like what I see of them and am considering one. A fellow on the STowners site has one and his review was very positive. I am looking for more opinions if possible. Here is the link to their site if anyone is interested. http://www.armoricdesign.com/fr/index.html

After trying the Butler mod and a $350 rework of the stock seat and a new stock seat and still not satisfied I decided to try Mustang. I ordered the non-studded version with backrest for $670 delivered. They offer a 10 day return policy so I'll be able to try it out thoroughly before I keep it. They had 3 more in stock after my order. I should have it by next Tuesday and I'll provide a review after I've tried it out. Dennis

Webbikeworld just did a review on the Garmin 660. Though I like the widescreen, I would not consider this an upgrade from my Zumo 550 simply because it does not have the XM radio capability. I'll just stick with what I have thank you very much. For those who don't care about the XM though, it seems to be a pretty good unit. http://www.webbikeworld.com/garmin-gps/garmin-zumo-660-review/

Anyone have a recommendation for a cooling vest? I'd like to find one for my 30-day ride this August. I read somewhere a great review of a vest that can last up to two days but not certain where. Any thoughts?

I just purchased these [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Bluetooth-Multi-Interphone-headsets/dp/B001SUZNGW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1242399404&sr=8-4]Bluetooth Headsets[/ame] and will be installing them into my new GMAX helmets. These appear to be fairly new on the market, could only find a couple reviews. I am going to be using them extensively over the next couple weeks, should be able to post a review in early June. We needed new headsets, ours are old and don't work well anymore. I also wanted to lose the wires. There is a huge range of prices on the bluetooth sets....most are above what I'm willing to pay. These are about the same price as lower-end wired units. I'm just hoping that they work as advertised and as the minimal reviews stated. I'll let you know! Joe

Back before the board crashed there was a special deal posted on here about getting XM radios with an employee discount and the employee codes were listed. Does anybody remember that or was i dreaming?? i know thats how i got mine and im pretty sure it was from this site. it was a LOOOONG time ago. Like 2004. Anybody? Now for the review question... Has anyone used the XM or Sirius radios that have the antenna built in? That looks like it would be a great alternative to having an antenna wire looped around 100 different places to take up slack. Ive been told that they get bad reception. Any truth to that??
