I have a 2006 and take great care if this bike. I have always has scheduled mait done and with every trip I have always asked about the front end wobble. I have always been told this is just part of the bike, weight transfer, etc....I have had the steering head tightened, air in the front forks, new tires, et all. I have never had a bike do this and just about at my wits end. I talked to a Yamaha customer support rep and they agreed with me this is not normal. Going to take it to a new dealer to have this looked at. Anyone else had this problem and if so what are some things I might be missing??

The United Way realized that it had never received a donation from the city's most successful lawyer. So a United Way volunteer paid the lawyer a visit in his lavish office. The volunteer opened the meeting by saying, 'Our research shows that even though your annual income is over two million dollars, you don't give a penny to charity. Wouldn't you like to give something back to your community through the United Way ?' The lawyer thinks for a minute and says, 'First, did your research also show you that my mother is dying after a long, painful illness and she has huge medical bills that are far beyond her ability to pay?' Embarrassed, the United Way rep mumbles, 'Uh . . . no, I didn't know that.' 'Secondly,' says the lawyer, 'did it show that my brother, a disabled veteran, is blind and confined to a wheelchair and is unable to support his wife and six children?' The stricken United Way rep begins to stammer an apology, but is cut off again. 'Thirdly, did your research also show you that my sister's husband died in dreadful car accident, leaving her penniless with a mortgage and three children, one of whom is disabled and another that has learning disabilities requiring an array of private tutors?' The humiliated United Way rep, completely beaten, says, 'I'm so sorry, I had no idea.' And the lawyer says, 'So . . . if I didn't give any money to them, what makes you think I'd give any to you?'

A couple of weeks ago I called yamaha usa and asked the person that answered the phone when the 2010 models would be out. He said in november. I replied, why so late? He said, well october or november but don't hold me to it. I realized he didn't have a clue so I thanked him and hung up the phone. This afternoon I decided to call and see if I got a different rep. The guy that answered the phone answered, this is Al Harper can I help you. I was surprised and kind of stunned. Why? When I was having trouble with the rear diff on my bike Al Harper was the factory rep yamaha sent from Florida to look at my bike. The last time yamaha sent a factory rep it was Al and he was the guy that recommended honda moly 60 grease for the rear end. I also met Al one year at the star motorcycle exhibit in Daytona. So you can see why I was surprised. Al said he was on the road for 8 years with yamaha as a factory rep but was now in the office because yamaha wanted someone that had technical experience to talk to customers and he enjoyed being home every night. We had a good conversation and then he asked why I called. I asked him if he knew when the 2010's would be out. He asked why I asked that. I lied, forgive me, and told him I was interested in trading my 05 for a 2010 and that there was a lot of speculation there wouldn't be a venture in 2010. He said the 2010's would be introduced at the dealer meeting which is usually in september or october. He didn't know the exact date. He however thinks there will be a venture in 2010. He also said yamaha corporate employees are hoping for a re-designed venture with the new vmax engine, detuned of course, but he doubted that would happen this year. I mentioned the outdated cassette player and he said you don't know how many times we hear that and it has gotten to be a joke. He also said we tell yamaha about the cassette player every chance we get. I mentioned our web site and told him he needs to visit and he would get a lot of good feedback. I told him I personally doubted there would be a re-designed venture this year because of the expense to re-tool and sales are down. He said if yamaha is thinking about a new venture you can bet that yamaha has been working on it 3 or 4 years. He said it takes 3 or 4 years to design and test a new bike before bringing it to market. He said yamaha worked on the straoliner 4 years before it was introduced and they worked on the raider 3 years before it was introduced. Finally I told him when going on this site it was amazing to see the different responses people get from dealers regarding warranty and repairs. He said he had seen this over the years. He said some dealers are more knowledgeable than others but since the dealers are independent businesses yamaha can't do much. Well, this has been more useless info for you.

Taking my 08 RSV back to the dealer on Monday to have the radio/CB/intercom checked by a Yamaha Tech Rep. So far the dealer has replaced the left rear speaker, and the black box inside the fairing and it still doesn't work. They were going to change the control head on the handle bars. Don't know what the Rep will come up with. I'll keep ya posted, case some of you are having problems yourselves. My is intermitten and craps completely out with the volume above 15. And will not work at all with the rear speakers faded in. Going to have to do without it for 3 or 4 days. Maybe they'll give me a loaner-- FAT CHANCE!!! Glenn

I submitted paperwork today to try to get on VA health & medical coverage. Since the eligibility is being relaxed (slightly) and our income is down from last year, the Rep. thinks there is a good shot of my getting on the system based on the numbers. The question that neither the rep. nor the patient advocate I spoke with could answer was this: If I'm able to qualify and get on the VA system now, what happens if our income goes back up (especially if it goes up a lot)? Will the VA disqualify me from the system...ie.. will they kick me out because of it?????? They said they had never heard of it ever happening and didn't believe that they would. I said I sure would like to see that in writing some where! I know that the co-pays would change and I would gladly pay them, as long as I can still be covered. My problem is I need absolute confirmation that would be the case. I could not give up my existing (expensive) health insurance coverage otherwise; Once I get off of it there won't be any getting back on and I have to have coverage. I'm still a couple of years out for social security (assuming it's still there, when I get there) So, my Venturerider friends, if you know with some level of certainty, the answer, please let me know. If you know a reg. reference I can go to and look it up, that would be good, too! I've been looking, but no joy as yet. Thanks for any assist or info.

I'm moving from CT to SoCal. Anyone ever ship their Venture? I know, I know, I would rather ride it out but time constraints and other events won't allow that. If so who did you use and why? Any ones to look out for? Looking at JC Motors Motorcycle Shipping just less than a grand coast to coast. Any one know of their rep? Ideas, thoughts suggestions?

I just got off the phone with the factory rep. He is at Tallahassee Power Sports and just finished riding my bike. He hasn't gone into the rear diff yet but believe's the problem is dry splines. He said in the past tires lasted approx 7,000 miles and yamaha recommended greasing the splines each time the rear tire was changed. The dealers also used regular grease on the splines and this solved the problem. Today tires are lasting 12,000 or more miles and with dealers using regular grease it is not getting the job done. Also there were some problems with some rear ends going out because the shims in the ring gear were too tight. After receiving notices from the factory reps in the field about this yamaha supposedly corrected this problem. This rep recommends that the dealers now use a moly 60 lithium grease. He said he uses it the field and at home for his personal use. He likes the honda brand moly 60 grease. Tallahassee Power Sports just purchased the honda dealership in Tallahassee so he asked the service manager to go over to the honda dealership and get two tubes of honda grease. The factory rep is going to re grease the splines and check to see if there is any damage to the rear diff. He also said yamaha will be notifying the dealers to start using the moly 60 grease. I hope this is the problem.

A while back I posted about a failing Metzeler tire. Wizard said that I was running to low an air pressure. Although I never could access the page he referred to the customer service rep at Metzeler said 49 lbs. the second time I asked. I have recieved a new tire after a battle with them. I am willing to try again at the higher pressure. They need to improve their website. I would have been running at the higher pressure all along if I had known. The local dealer said the tire was defective and then after talking to Parts Unlimited who is the distributer fo the US he changed his tune and was trying to make me buy a new tire and send the old one off for inspection. I already had a Avon on the way so I put it on and and gave the old one to the dealer. We waited for a Parts Unlimited rep to come by and look at it. When he finally did he said it was road hazard and wasn't covered. I took back the evidence and called Metzeler. They said that with road hazard there would be evidence inside the tire. The tire is perfect on the inside and I knew I hadn't hit anything. After I told the Metzeler rep that he finally agreed to order me a new tire. I have come to the conclusion that I personally don't trust Parts Unlimited although it evidently is hard to deal with motorcycle stuff and not deal with them even if your not aware of it. It will probably be next summer before I need to mount the new Metzeler. I will watch it close and I am hoping that eventually I can post that it wore out normally.

How long should i give the dealer to fix my 07 for the rear end noise:sick: before i start jumping up and down and screamming? I dropped it off last week and they are just getting to take the final drive off. They say they spoke to the Yama service rep and it seems as though they waiting for the rep to tell them what to look for and how to repair. I thought these dealers were supossed to be service tech's.
