I've probably read the reason for reversing a M/C rear tire when put on the front, but I don't remember the reason. Could someone please enlighten me on the reason to do this. Thanks, Glenn

I take it this is really loose? Now , when I loosen the top nut a hair, do I use the screw driver, on the lower nut? and tap it up, or the top down? My reason for the question is: The front end feels sloppy over 65

Looking for a member who would be interested in doing some work on my bike.(84 Venture). I live in Nicholson, Ga,between Commerce and Athens. I got it running but it still has some carb issues. I'm not lazy or dumb, just busy. I work @ 60 hrs a week, and have other obligations and just don't have a lot of time. The local dealer around here seems to be filled with a bunch of pretentious jerks who have no time to deal with a non-Harley owner. But the main reason is turn around time. I would like to be riding soon, not 5-6 months from now. Just send me a PM if you are interested. Also wanted to add that I will deliver and pick up, plus I will pay cash.

I have an opportunity to go look at/possibly buy a 92 Venture as a parts bike. Just confirming that parts on a 92 would easily work on an 89 ? They are both still a MKII. Any parts that wouldn't work for any reason ?

I had a 2000 Venture and when it had about 80,000 miles Yamaha gave me a new set because of visible heat cracking......When I took them off they were still very smooth and no cracks showing on inside. The reason for this post is I have 93,000 on Midnight Venture with heat cracks showing on the outside......OK friends what the real deal here?...JK

I purchased my 89VR (26500 miles now) a little over a year ago and the previous owner said the cruise control was made inoperable at the shop because he heard of a friend that got in an accident due to using the cruise control, so he said. I have no reason not to believe the reason. I would like to make it useable again. I share this thinking that one may proceed in a different manor than if it just malfunctioned. Your suggestions would be helpful if I could receive help from the simple to the more complex. On the road I press the cruise button on and it lights up green. Then I set the cruise and nothing. I have used the cruise on a 91VR, so I have some operation knowledge. Suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I've had a breaker bar for many years now. It broke some time back, but nobody in my area sells Thorsen tool anymore. They have a lifetime guarantee but it does me no good if there is nobody to go to to get it replaced. Does anybody here know who sells them these days or who used to sell them? Even if I can find out who used to sell them they will usually give me their new brand as a replacement. For some reason I thought it was Farm & Fleet. Thanks, Bill

Two questions. Has anyone loaded an RSV into the bed of a F150 (04 thru 08) with the tailgate down using a ramp ? Did the tailgate take the weight of the bike and the rider without bending if so? Is there any reason you could not tow an RSV backwards in one of those one wheel Receiver hitch things with the rear wheel off the ground?

I have a hp laptop running windows 8 IE explorer. 64 bit OS. For some reason if I go to say craigslist and try to email someone, it says no email associated with this program or something like that. I am the end of my patience. I cannot for any reason get this thing to open a email program while on the net when trying to reply to something.

What a nice bike. I was slightly nervous at first. The ride is great. Handles good. Felt a little "light" in the front end to me for some reason, but I am sure that will go away. Has pretty good power for a big bike. Definetly needs pipes though.........

As of 8:00 PM EDT Sunday October 31st we are the proud owners of a '91 Two-Tone Blue Venture Royale. I rode the bike home in the dark on I-95. Since this is my first touring bike, the term " white-knuckles" comes to mind. The biggest issues was head light glare from behind. Those mirrors are killers. Too bad they can't be adapted to one of my telescopes... Spent the morning tweaking stuff and getting accquainted. Went to take the bike for a short ride, stalled it and it wouldn't start. That's what I get for playing with the radio, CB, and all the pretty lights.... Put in on a tender and left it. Things like this happen for a reason... GF got the insurance, tags and title squared away so the day wasn't completely wasted. Tomorrow will be spent fine tuning the carbs (idle and mixtures) (BTDT on other multi-carb metrics) and getting ergonomics sorted out. Looking forward to a better ride tomorrow. Ride Safe Y'All...

From the "Vent" section of the Atlanta paper, today: The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse: you can't post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal' 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery' and 'Thou Shall Not Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians, it creates a hostile work environment. I Like it!

I have a rather strange question for the forum... has anyone every relocated their kickstand to the right hand side? The reason I ask is because I recently had an accident resulting in a broken ankle and a dislocated knee cap. It happened while I was trying to kick my leg over my saddle because I had a T-bag on my pillion and i couldn't swing my leg as usual. Anyhow, I am in for a long recovery (this year's riding season is done ) So I thought about relocating my kickstand so I could mount my bike from the right and not stress my weakened left leg. I can't see any good reason why I couldn't do this. The only real reason most bikes lean left is because most bikes had their pipes on the right (not an issue with the RSV). It might give me some issues when i'm parking in a group of bikes, but that's a minor thing. The hardest part of this I can see is modding or making a new swivel for the kickstand. I might be able to just flip it over - but I'd have to cut off and re-weld the tab that sticks out for you to operate it. And of course, I'd have to weld a reinforcing plate on that side and re-route the switch wiring. Any advice?

http://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50620 BeemerBob was out on a ride by himself and hit a washout. Went down hard and probably cracked a couple ribs. Thanks to his SPOT, they were able to find him and bring him to safety. His cellphone had no service. He hit the "help" button and people responded. Even if you were to crash and couldn't hit the "help" button, you can still be tracked through the GPS signal and google maps.

Wish it were closer. Be a good one to build your own!!

I hope I can adequately state my question...I am running MS Vista on a Toshiba laptop. When I click on my internet connection and then the "view status" area; it reflects a fairly rapidly increasing number for "bytes received"...is this normal? Periodically my computer runs quite slowly...I'm on Hughes.net satellite which I've figured might be the reason for such slowness. I have run two different virus checkers against my computer, to no avail...appreciate any input you may have.

Screws that hold TCI in place. I used #2 Phillips this morning and it slipped on first try and I quit right there. Don't remember having any trouble with them before. Do the take a special Hong Kong bit?? Tip on valve covers. Do them when you have reason to remove Air box and battery box. Another question. How many put heat sheilds back?? I left them out most times I got in there.

I need to get a backrest. After doing a search, it appears to be a draw between the Diamond R and the Utopia with everyone being happy with their choice. I'm leaning toward the Utopia because it's $41 cheaper. Is there a reason other than them being a sponser of this board, that I should fork over more for the Diamond R backrest? Thanks for any advice.
