  1. I dont know if anyone else is interested in this or not, but here goes. There are almost 12,000 members on this board. Does yamaha monitor this forum? If not they should. Here is a group that not only owns these bikes but take the time to share their ideas. The 2nd generation Venture is basically the same as 12 years ago, it's got to be time for an update. I love a lot of things about my bike but would like to see some modernizing. So I will offer my ideas. I welcome challenges to my opinions and input from others. maybe Yamaha will keep some of these ideas in mind when they develope the next generation. here is a start: ADD Fuel Injection. Improve economy (A BMW with the same weight and displacement can get 55 MPGs). Better cold starts. No more cleaning carbs. Etc, etc… Hydraulic Valves. No more adjusting. Longevity. ABS. Safety. Insurance rates. Linked Brakes. Safety. Insurance Rates. Adjustable Windshield. Ala BMW and Kawasaki. Because they are awesome! Adjustable Handlebars. They just don’t fit everyone. 3rd Brakelight. Safety. Insurance rates. Tachometer. Self Explanitory. Other Guages. Nice to have. Temp, Volts, Air Pressure. Gear Indicator. The bike is quiet. When I ride next to Harleys I forget which gear I am in. The Tachometer will help with this also. On board Air Compressor. Can adjust suspension. Have air for flats. (If not an onboard compressor at least link the front and then rear shock air system together so they can be equally adjusted) No Roll Back Clutch. Subaru used to make one. This is a heavy bike. Loaded down with passenger and luggage, in traffic, on a hill sometimes it is a monster to take off. It must be able to be disengaged with a thumb button right next to the clutch lever so the bike can be moved around a parking lot. This will give you something the competition does not offer. Delete Cassette Player. Self Explanitory Keep V-4 .Everyone has a twin. Seat. The best stock one out there IMHO
  2. Cody, WY - July 25 - 28 (though most folks are arriving on Sunday evening - July 24th). The rally will soon be upon us - just a little more than 5 weeks away!! Wanted to post some updates for everyone: LODGING: I will be releasing our VentureRider special reserved room blocks on JUNE 16 - so IF you haven't made room reservations yet, please consider doing so now. We have been given very special - discounted - rates - after release of these blocks, the rates will revert back to the regular rates which are going to be MUCH MORE - so, save some money, and make your plans now (if something suddenly came up, you can cancel a room per the cancellation policy of the property - each is different, so know the fine print)! The special VentureRider hotel / campground rates at all properties are only for those members (and / or their guest or trial members) registered and participating at our Rally. The rates are posted in the International VR Flyer EVENT PRE-REGISTRATION DEADLINE: July 1st, 2011. Registration is available at the event - but slightly more - so again, don't hesitate, send it in today and save some This is going to be an awesome meet and greet with some great food, a Chili Cookoff, fun, stories, and most of all lots of incredible riding around the areas - some of the best roads in the nation can be found here (and did I mention ).. 3. I can't be the only person who lives in the country where DSL, cable, and fiber optics kinds of services are not available. What do some of the rest of you use? I have had an aircard for some time, but my monthly usage has increased to where the 5G is not enough anymore. There is a wifi outfit local to me that would have the best plan as far as rates, speeds and download capacity, but upon investigation these guys have demonstrated themselves to be jerks and they don't even have my business yet. Can't say I'm nuts about signing a contract with them. Does anyone have any experience with satellite internet services? Are there any other options I'm overlooking?
  4. Morning All Just wondering where everyone is getting their accessories from. Hopefully picking up my new 2009 RSV next week so not even sure what I want but looking for suppliers in Canada or suppliers that ship to Canada with resonable rates. Thanks John

Anybody down here getting better rates? Why??? 'preciate ya
  6. Will be shopping for insurance in Ontario in the next few weeks. Anyone know of any dedicated (or otherwise) insurance companies with good rates ?
  7. Progressvie Insurance Company has never been comepetetive on the 2nd gen venture. When they recently notified me that they were having a rate revision that was a 5% reduction I got excited but that excitement changed to disappointment very quickly. When I purchased my 05 RSV in 2005 progessive's rate was over $900.00 per year so I placed my coverage with another company at $502.00 per year. I am carrying 100/300/50 liability, 100/300/50 uninsured motorist, 10,000 medical payments, 250 deductible on comprehensive and collision and roadside assistance. After the 5% rate reduction my rate for this coverage with progressive would be $1,658.00 per year. I called progressive and told them this was not a rate reduction. I also quoted an 08 Ultra Classic anniversary edition and before the reduction the annual rate was $528.00 per year but after the revision it is over $900.00 per year. The product manager in the home office asked me to fax several recent quotes I had done to her, yes it is a female, and she would get back with me. I faxed the quotes and when I went to the international motorcyle show in Atlanta she, the product manager, was there. She said progressive had been losing money on the touring bike line and increased the rates for touring bikes but lowered the rates on other bikes. There are two things companies look at when determining rates and these are the loss frequency and loss severity. She said both of these had increased on touring bikes. She also said that before the revision they had all the harleys in one catagory but were seperating the touring bikes and increasing rates but were lowering rates on the fatboy and softails. I was surprised because I would have thought the touring bikes would have had the lowest losses because normally you have mature riders that aren't hot rodding there bikes but this is not the case. Anyway I re wrote my coveage with another company at renewal on February 17 for $409.00 per year. If any of you in Georgia are insured with progressive get ready for a rate increase. If you would like to see what other company's rates are let me know and I will be glad to quote you with the top seven companies in Georgia.
  8. Why are motorcycle loan rates higher then car loans. Yamaha is running a 7.9% offer for 72 months but sometimes automakers do a 60 month at 0% to push them out the door. Just seems like motorcycle loans would be cheaper. Just curious NO I'm not looking.
