Just posting a warning to everyone about using Harbor freight ramps to load a Venture. I bought the ramps just knowing they were going to be the cats meow. Had them around since 2-29-12 & just used them for the first time last Friday. Hooked onto the little trailer I have, backed into the shop door, lined the Venture up and drove it on. No problem????? Drove to Hog roast / Poker Run for ABATE Dist # 10. Went to unload next morning while the boss was in the 5th wheel "gettin purdy". Mark & I had agreed that we would meet in a city that was about 60 miles from each of us. I had a long hour to unload & prep for the short ride. WELL, I put the ramp on the end of the trailer, unstrapped the Venture and proceeded to roll back to the ramp and eased onto it...........BANG,xy//!!..!@#$%^&, oh no the ramp must have slipped. Nope it broke right where the tang sets on the trailer, then broke the hinges (3 of them) between the sections. Fortunately the trailer was only about a foot tall, but there I sat with the rear wheel stuck between the sections about half way down the ramp and the bike still about 2 feet on the trailer. Well I hollered for Babe, and I hollered for Babe, AND I HOLLERED FOR BABE, well you guessed it she thought I was hollering for the dogs & ignored me. So I finally thought you can't stand here all morning so I tried to push the bike back off the ramp, but when it went back about another foot it pinched on the non-broken ramp and pushed the bike over to the right & you all know what came next. Yep, I just got my right leg out of the way and let the 980# behemoth lay down. Dammit. You all know the feeling or if you don't you will some day. Well 3 guys came to my rescue & helped me set the bike back up (Thanks Pig Cookers" and get it off of the trailer & broken ramp. Of course I was 15 min late getting to meet Mark & Babe said "What took You so long??" Gish. Oh well nobody got hurt & Venture got one little mark. My 1st to put on it. Long story with a warning. When I got home I read the label on the box I took the ramp out of Friday. "1500# capacity cumulatively 500# on each section evenly distributed". WELL everyone knows you read the direction after the SCR3W UP. Be careful if you buy one of these ramps they will let you down if you know what I mean.

I finished converting my old utility trailer to a motorcycle trailer. only 2 pics came out, cause the camera fogged coming from the cool house to hot outside. i took off the factory tailgate so ramps can be used. i still need 3 ramps, 1 for each foot while i drive up the middle. once i do this a few times, i won't need the foot ramps - but till then.... so once the bike was on the trailer, I put the canyon dancer handle bar holder in place to figure out where my eye hook for the straps would go & same for rear straps that hold the back side. I put the back strap hook on the frame not far from where the back crash bar is & then figure where the eye hook on the trailer should go. they both went more forward than i had thought, but what the hey. the front wheel chock had that cradle thingy. after finally getting the RSVoff the trailer - that wheel chock cradle thingy came off next. they seem cool while you are shopping for them, but it doesn't work for me. next came new lights, plug and wiring for the trailer. i added zip ties that have the extra hole so you can screw then down. i added 3 of those to keep wire hang to a minimum. this gave me a chance to re-do how my new jack was placed on the trailer tougne. i put it on a few days ago when i really did not have the time to do it right. i just wanted it on there. well today it is on there right. this was a fun project & every thing went smooth. that was scary - normally i go somewhere for something almost twice when doing a project. I now feel a lot better knowing i am setup to haul our bike when and where necessary. now, if i can get some riding time in??????? Dale in Louisiana.

What do you do with wood? I did this some 20 years ago and have been making some MODS. Basically, three 4x4 "H" frames, thru bolted(not lagged). Thus it can be tightened and 2x8's for the main bench, 2x6 for sides and other bits. The rear "H" frame and rear most 3' of bench slides out as one piece after removing some 6 bolts. Which allows me to remove the rear wheel quickly. I should have taken a pic of that also. One man easy to ride up w/the outriggers I just made using shelf brackets. Super strong-Total weight w/o the ramps ~150#. Can be stood on end to take up less space. As you see I have the center stand on a "loose" piece of 2x10...which is not needed. If anyone wants closer pics just say so. I set the camera to PC setting. Hope it shows enough detail. I am not selling anything. Just here to give you ideas.
