Before I alter my rear wheel, I thought I better ask this collective of experienced minds, if any of you know of a better way to get a 16" rear wheel onto the back of a newer RSTD ? I want to run on radial tires. Period ! So we all know that no one makes a quality brand radial tire in a 15". You have to go 16" or bigger, to be able to buy radials for the bikes. Therefore, I am looking at sending my rear wheen down to Kosman Industries, to have the make my OEM rear wheel into a 16" rear wheel. Their website explains all the procedures, and costs. http://kosmanspecialties.com/ I would do this in the Winter, when I am going to be needing new tires anyway, and I can afford to have the bike down for a couple weeks. So, before I do this, does anyone else have ideas of an available 16" wheel that will correctly fit on the rear of a second gen bike? Or something else to do ? IMHO, I believe I can make this bike a better ride on good radials, versus the bias belt tires. Please let me know...what you know. Thanks, Miles:detective:

Question..........I put new Bridgestone bias tires on my bike. They don't grip as well as my former bike with radials. What is the harm of switching to radial tires for my 2001 Royal Star Venture? I generally haul a passenger, and I'm an overweight, tall guy. I'm not sold on any brand tire, just wanted a tire which is safe, grips well and doesn't follow all the grooves on the road. Suggestions? (on brand) - Comments on radials? Thanks. Dave

Is there any advantage, or disadvantage for that matter, to one over the other? I've been looking a little bit on the net and forums, but they don't go into any specifics. I'm assuming radials would handle better. Am I wrong? Or is it simply a matter of personal preference? Thanks, Bill

I'm looking for tires, mainly Dunlop, & checked the E3 'Radials'. Not much of a choice. Only 3 front sizes & 4 rear sizes. Rear won't work. Maybe I could squeeze a 9 in rim on the rear. Seems the stock D404s I have on now are Bias ply. I've seen some mention that they use Elite 3's which are radials. I take it that's okay so long as I don't mix radials with bias? Why do I seem to recall that I cannot use radials on a bike that calls for bias ply?? What are the Avon Venoms anyway? Radial or bias?
