After being part of the Verizon program for many years and paying way too much for a cell phone and hating to be under a contract, I finally switched over to Straight Talk. I am not one to want or need one of the smart phones so the simple program works fine for me. I like a simple flip phone that I can close so I went to Walmart and bought one with a camera for about $50 and did the "All you need" program with 1000 anytime minutes, 1000 text messages and some internet for $30 for 30 days. They use Verizon towers, so the service is the same. It is easy to do the auto-fill and it is $32 and change with tax. For those of you that want it, they have unlimited everything for $45 + tax for 30 days. After I determined I liked what I got, Linda and I decided to do the same thing for her. But when I signed up on line for mine, I found that they also offer a bunch of different phones and some are free. We ended up getting a flip phone for Linda that looked brand new that had been refurbished and all she had to do was pick out the phone, which was an LG and buy the first month program with no contract. There is no activation fee and you can keep your old number if it is still active. Anyway, I thought I would throw this out to anyone that wants to look at a different alternative and so far I am very pleased. SGN, Steve Neal, did this and tried to get me to do this a long time ago and wish I had taken his advice then. RandyA

My PC was fine and dandy on Thursday PM. I go on Friday AM and my desktop only had the wallpaper and one icon, the recycle bin. START, PROGRAMS,,,, none found. Windows Explorer,, no user files, programs unuseable. Cutting to the chase, the files are there but Icons and program listings are gone. Files (pictures, documents and such) are found, but not in folders. I do have a newer AV program in use, WebRoot (Essentials, a cloud AV product. been ok for months). So, my son, who is more current on PC installs, is working on restore. Said it's pretty nasty. There are several IT pro's here. Do you know what virus took me down? I have googled for info, found some info, but no one says what the virus is. Anyone know this one,,, and how to avoid it. Thanks, Mike G.

"NEW SENIOR PROGRAM.... New Medicare Program You're a sick senior citizen and the government says there is no nursing home available for you. So what do you do? Our plan gives anyone 65 years or older a gun and 4 bullets. You are allowed to shoot four Politicians. Of course, this means you will be sent to prison where you will get three meals a day, a roof over your head, central heating, air conditioning and all the health care you need! Need new teeth? No problem. Need glasses? That’s great. Need a new hip, knees, kidney, lungs or heart? They’re all covered. As an added bonus, your kids can come and visit you as often as they do now. And who will be paying for all of this? It’s the same government that just told you that you they cannot afford for you to go into a home. And you can get rid of 4 useless politicians while you are at it. Plus, and because you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income taxes anymore. Is this a great country or what? "

Do you remember this day? Feb 20th, 1962. I was 8yrs old. It sparked my interest in following the space program and working at NASA someday. I got to full fill that dream 18 yrs later, working at the Johnson Space Center in Houston at the beginning of the Space Shuttle Program.

A while back I remember a thread about a tachometer program for a pc that used a microphone to determine the rpm of and engine by listening to the sound of the engine. I had the program downloaded, but never got a chance to try it out before I lost it. Now I can not find it again for life of me. Does anybody remember it and know the link? Bill Never mind, I finally found it here http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=38904&highlight=tachometer+program

With the continuing adverse publicity the TSA has been receiving, the Public Relations Director has implimented a new program which she hopes will put them in a more favorable light with the public. So, for the first time ever, a Government entity is now printing pin up calander. Below is Miss May.

I've rented a routing/scheduling program for my business for some 5 years before finally buying the dang thing. Now I am trying to install it on my laptop which has Windows 7 and i get an error message. Since I am 9 days out of my annual update subscription they won't help me without my renewing the annual updates for a mere $350. What gripes my rear about the program as well is that after I bought the program I found out that I have to have the programmers permission to use the damn thing through their password verification. And they wonder why I don't want to renew my updates. Aaarggghh!

I have a hp laptop running windows 8 IE explorer. 64 bit OS. For some reason if I go to say craigslist and try to email someone, it says no email associated with this program or something like that. I am the end of my patience. I cannot for any reason get this thing to open a email program while on the net when trying to reply to something.

I was asked a while back to install a interface called ForumRunner for the site. It is a program that is supposed to make the site better for those using IPads and Iphones I think. Just a note that I have at least temporarily disabled that program due to excess load on the server. I don't know for sure if it is the culprit but am temporarily disabling features that I have added over the past two or three months in an effort to figure out what is slowing things down.

While at work earlier this morning I went on the "Pics from Asheville" site and opened the photobucket URL. I immediately got a Trojan virus warning and a box about some spyware that I could not turn off. I rebooted and it did not help. I then did the free scan thing and was told I would have to purchase the anti-spyware program. When I finally got that box off and rebooted, I could not get on the internet or our company intranet. I had to call the IT department and have them go thru it. I did try our Malware program and it did not help. but with their updated program, IT was able to fix it. I have no idea what happened as it is obvious others were able to open the site. RandyA

Anyone here using a netbook and have an opinion on them? I'd like to get one for trips on my MC. I'm taking a 2 week trip in Oct and I'd rather not lug around my 17 inch laptop. I won't need a writing program or anything special. Just the ability to surf the net.

It was a free program that I could make logs for 3 vehicles.Anyway our computer crashed:starz: a couple of months ago We bought a new one . We were able to recover most everything, but this program did not survive. My question: Does anyone know where I can find another free program to continue keeping track of all I do on my vehicals? If you are looking for a free photo editing program you can find one here. (I have several programs but I like how this one functions.) www.giveawayoftheday.com On that site is a full program that you can download and install and have a full working copy. The only catch is that you have to download and install it within the time shown on the screen. If you wait till later to install it won't work. There is a different program every 24 hrs. Not sure if this site was posted before...if so ooops!!! Keith

Question for you computer experts. When I go to a web site for an association I belong to and try to open a document the typical box opens. The options are "Save this file" and "Open using MS Word". Mine has always said Open with MS Word but now says open with "Windows Shell Common DII" or it could be D11. Any ideas what this may be? I do have MS Word on the laptop. EDIT: I saved the document I needed to My Documents and it went to a File Maker Pro file which is a program we use for this same association and a program I recently did some upgrades on. Any idea how to get this back to MS Word?

Being basically a motorcycle forum, I bet you thought Orange County Chopper by the OCC in the thread title. That's not really the case. I did manage to land a temporary gig for a few weeks during the Christmas season for a program called OCC. I am not however, working for the dastardly Paul Tuetal Sr. infamous abuser (of Paulie Jr. and Mickey) on the Orange County Chopper motorcycle build reality show. Instead, the OCC I'm talking about is a program called Operation Christmas Child. This OCC is part of the Billy and Franklin Graham outreach ministry Samaritan's Purse. This OCC is about collecting shoe boxes of toys (this year 8 million plus) to send to impoverished children in India, Pakistan and the Ukraine along with a message about " The Greatest Gift of all JESUS." I do have to admit that in the past few years, for various reasons, I have been more of a Christmas Grinch or Scrooge :Im not listening tothan a Santa or merry Christmas Elf. Partly because of the fact that my birthday is at Christmas and each Christmas season is a reminder of my rapidly aging condition and impending mortality. :backinmyday:And partly because my children are now grown and the magic of Christmas in my children's eyes has been replaced with the realistic distant stare of fear:scared: of having to worry about the cost and hectic pace of providing Christmas. Truth be told, not that I'm proud of it, Christmas, (for me in recent years) has been more of a bothersome burden than a seasonal blessing. My small role in this program consist of organizing teams of volunteers into a assembly line processing machine where these shoe boxes are received, sifted, inspected, sealed, sorted, packaged, packed, loaded and shipped out heading for their final destination to a distant country into the arms of a child. My initial assessment of the process seemed more like an exercise in organizing Chaos. But, to my surprise, as the assignment has been developing what I am seeing is an accumulation of small miracles happening on a shoe box to box basis. Miracles that are humbling and reminding me how small I am in the scheme of things and how great God's love is to make all of the necessary things, people and energy come together to make all of this possible. During the hectic pace of this assignment I have been uncharacteristically catching myself singing Christmas carols. I have the day off tomorrow, I might even put up a few strings of Christmas lights and decorations up around the place.

Anyone have any knowledge about a malware called anti virus pro? I started my computer at the office this morning and this program came up and said it was scanning for a virus. This is a scam. I turned off my computer and restarted. This program opens up and starts scanning. It has disabled all of my programs. I can't run any of the malware programs. This happened with another program before and a google search had blogs from people all over the US that had this problem and one guy had a detailed report on which files to delete from the registry. I did that and got rid of the program. This one is tough and there isn't any info on the web. I found the program but can't get it out of my computer because it has locked out all the other programs. Anyone know anything about this program or how to get it out? I am shut down.

Have any of you guys been involved in this auction program? Some of the stuff ends up going amazingly cheap. There is a timeline that restarts and goes 15 seconds from the last bid and if you are the last bidder and no one else bids for 15 seconds, you win at that price. The kicker is, everytime you bid, it cost you $.75 cents, whether you win or not. RandyA After looking at this, I guess it does not have anything to do with ebay. http://www.swoopo.com/
