Has anyone else experienced this. I have an 07 RSV with 3800 miles on it. This problem just started over the weekend. As I was going down the road I tryed to turn on the radio and it wouldn't come on. Tryed the cb, same thing. It was like it wasn't getting power just a blank. So I pulled over, turned the ignition off and turned it back on and the radio worked. Since then it has done the same thing a few more times with the same results, Turn ignition off and back on and the radio works. Tryed wiggling the cable going to the radio and that didn't fix it. The only thing that works is to turn the bike off and then back on, press the on button and it works. Has anyone else had this problem? I'd like to give the dealership some type of direction to look, seeing that they don't work on too many of the Ventures. Any help is appreciated.

I just picked up an 85 with carbs removed. I am not sure if i have all the hoses correctly routed and the book is no help. I also need some help on how to best press the carb bodies back onto the boots by myself in 40 degree weather. I see only 3 hoses on the upper section coming from under the seat that i believe should connect to the 4 carb air vents on the carb bowls that are on a 45 degree angle. I do have the 4 little drain hoses on the bottom. I also have the canister on the left side that is not completely connected. Any help with all these hoses would be appreciated I have worked many bikes but do not see how i can easily press these carbs back into place. Any suggestions besides brute force?

Taking my two year old son, Simon, for his daily ride around the neighborhood. He officially started his riding career at 19 months old. I had to make a peg for his left foot to rest on. His right foot rests on the air cleaner. By watching me, he has taught himself to: Pull out the choke, press the starter until the engine fires, twist the throttle, blow the horn (alot), turn on the turn signals, and then use the kill switch when our ride is over. After I press it several times it starts right like nothing is wrong. RSV is an 07. Do you think it is the battery, starter button, or starter switch ? tew47

Ok gang, I have my RSV lowered front and rear.I am VERY happy with the way the bike handles, only real problem is the muffler scraping. I thought maybe I would make a set of links that are 3/4 or 1/2 the difference between the Barons and the stock links. I don't have a drill press handy and thought I might just see if someone was making these? Thanks for any and all help! Frank

These are the Instructions provided by the manufacture. How to iron a patch. Lay a piece of thin cotton cloth onto a patch. Turn your iron on 175 C /cotton/ and press /don't move the iron-just press/ during 15-20 sec. Big patches please start pressing form the center to the edges of a patch. After this please press once again edges of a patch - about 5 sec. Please use only good quality iron-we advise you against using poor Chinese irons, because they don't keep a property temperature. Please pay attention to all plastic elements in a nearby of a patch-hot iron may damage them!!! First washing of the pressed patch can take place after 48 hrs-max. washing temperature - 90 C. This iron-on patch can be iron onto cotton, all synthetic clothes, leather and some synthetic leather.

Last year my 2nd gen venture started right up as always. Pull choke press start, boom, immediate gratification. As the summer progressed, I would pull the choke press start, grind on starter for 5 seconds, engine starts small delay in gratification. Summer progresses more its now 100+ degree days, no choke press start crack the throttle grind starter 20 seconds engine finally starts. By the end of summer pull choke, press starter, grind on starter till I was ashamed of myself. Wait...............repeat, wait................. repeat finally starts. Then just as I parked it tried to start again......nothing but the ignition switch is on, the speedo does cycle through the checks, theradio controls all function. New fuel filter, fuel pump was replaced but did flow fuel as per the spec sheet. All lights function as they should. I did purchase a new TCI module as I thought that might be the problem and new plug wires. I am getting no spark to any of the spark plugs.

Thought I would share this with you, it is the original 1998 Venture Press Pack presumably released to accompany the launch of the bike for 1999. Dont know if anyone has put this on the site but here goes. RSV2 is the booklet. RSV2a is the remaining photographs and graphic card that held a disk with the photographs on. The final one is the Press Pack Cover. I dont think Yamaha will mind. Neil (oldminer).

Hello, I have a couple of things working against me here. I am new to the Venture so I am not sure how things should work based on other rides, and I bought my bike used so I do not know what mods/problems the PO may have done/had. I have searched and read all the items on this site I can but have not seen the same issue I have. Okay, When I press the set button, the set light comes on but no cruise engages. If I press and hold the res/acc button for a few seconds, it does engage and seems to work, although with a few mph swing up and down. Not really sure how consistent it should be so not sure if this part is right. Also, once engaged, pressing the res/acc will not increase speed, but press and hold will. Ant ideas where I should start checking?

About %30 of the time when i press my rear shock button. It reads zero, when i press the "M" button to fill it up to about 50, it goes up to 50 really fast on the computer, but not in the shock itself. It does it alot more frequently in the cold. What does this? also after pressing the M and it "fills" when i press the rear button again it says 15 and does it over.... i have an 85 venture royale... anyone know what to do?

I am currently taking the RiderCoach training to become an MSF instructor. One of our homework assignments involved a discussion of "how to setup the bike for a turn". MSF has a technique that involves the acronym SLPR. Slow Look Press Roll. Reference page 21 of MSF's BRC Handbook for more information. http://msf-usa.org/CurriculumMaterials/BRC_Handbook_Vs7.1_noprint.pdf The assignment was handed out on a sheet of paper and looked like this: ****************************************************** RiderCoach prep assignment Report Slow Look Press Roll -or- Slow Look Roll Press 1.) Explain the difference between SLOW, LOOK, PRESS, ROLL (SLPR) and SLOW LOOK ROLL PRESS (SLRP) 2.) Which technique do you use and why? 3.) In your opinion, which is the best technique for the novice, and why? ****************************************************** Any experts here care to answer? How do you negotiate a turn? How should a novice prepare to negotiate a turn? My response is posted below.

I started having an weird intermittent starting issue with my 85 when I was at Kruisn the Kootenays a couple of weeks ago. About 99% of the time the bike starts fine, but, every once in a while it wont click ,turn over, or make any noise at all. All my gauges work, everything has power, headlight is on and shuts off when I press the start button,so it looks to me like the start switch works ok, and yes, the kill switch is in the run position . After a time I can go back and it starts fine, no set time or temperature hot or cold doesnt seem to matter. BUT I found out yesterday and again today that if I hold the starter button down and press the horn it starts! Is this a bad ground? I am an electrical moron, does someone have an idea where I should start? It does have a relay with the Stebel horn that was installed last winter. And my side stand switch appears to be working properly as it kills the engine when I put it down and the warnings show up in the dash when it is down. Brian:bang head:
