Hey all. I just joined up a couple weeks ago, found many helpful tips in the forums already! Now I need some help from the collective experience pool. I am in the middle of a mini vacation (run down the Oregon coast) and my tail lights are out. I got pulled over for it lastnight and now I'm stranded in Yachats. By the way, the police in Newport Oregon are a really nice bunch of guys! Anyway, my bike is an 89, I have been getting an intermitent warning light on the dash, sometimes it blinks, sometimes solid. I kept checking my headlight. I've checked the fuses on top of the battery and they are all good. I know I should spend more time checking old posts before asking but I'm trying to salvage the happy fun time part for my wife kids and granddaughter while dealing with this at the same time. So, any advice is welcome and just ask for what ever details that might help. I will be checking in as often as I can. thanks in advance, Robert

Gentlemen , I absolutely love this forum as a wonderful source of information! That being said , I was thinking of installing a CD player but after reading several posts, I believe an MP3 player may be a better choice? Is there a "clean looking way" other than using the aux plug on cassette deck, which I plan on converting to storage box as seen on other posts and since mine doesn't operate anyway, and is there a wiring harness or adapter to accomplish this? We ride in some remote areas that radio reception is poor at best. I may have placed this in the wrong forum as I have a '99 yamaha venture...don't know how to move to gen 2. Thanks for your help in advance! Last edited by Wayne McClain; Today at 09:23 PM. As I was sitting here doing my usual checking on the latest posts and trying to avoid all the stuff on television, I started going back to the oldest posts we have, which are dated to mid 2007. It is amazing to read some of these posts and to think how much some of our lives have changed in the last five years. It is also surprising in how many names I recognized that are now expired. It is kind of sad to see this, but this is a continuously evolving group and things do change. You should try this sometime if you have not already done it. RandyA

It has been a great ride over the last 46 years, but I think it is time to hang the helmet up.It was sad to see my trike leave. I am planning on staying a member. I don't post much ,but I read your posts every day.I think I will get two seat ragtop and still ride the back roads.

Can't seem to find the specs for the brace bolts eitehr in the owners or the shop manual. I am replacing mine with a SuperBrace (Thanks to Golf&Venture) & I see on various posts 14 - 15 ft Lbs is assumed so I've set mine to that. Just want to make sure it's correct.

Anyone else see these? I don't see them on other threads. Also, a few days ago I noticed a round image of some kind infesting many posts. Just wondering what this stuff is. I'm on my new iPad, so, I'm pretty sure it's not a virus on my end.

I'm a new member but have been reading your posts for the last few weeks since I bought my new-to-me 1st gen. It came with a myriad of small problems, most of which have been corrected using tech info that you fine folk have posted. Many of these posts came with detailed step by step instructions and pictures to boot. As a career mechanic, I have seen repair manuals with far less information. So hats off to y'all for such a great website. Looking forward to the day when I can meet up with some of you folk. Thanks again!

The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts. When I click on "New Posts", I sometimes get the above message below the list. I really don't understand it ... especially for the most recent one which was my own thread that has no posts other than my own. ?????????????????

Can I change the number of threads displayed? When I click on the "New Posts" link at the top of the page I always get up to 25 threads listed, is there a way to increase this number? I do have the replies per page at the max number for when I am in a thread but can not find the setting to increase the number of threads displayed in "New Posts". If I actually have to do work at work there is always pages of new posts by the time I get back here. Sometimes if there are a lot of threads that need reading and or replies the system will timeout and I will end up missing the older ones on the later pages.

Sorry to be a newbie PIA. I searched on rubber grommets and got a cazillion hits. After wading through several I just decided to post the question directly: What is a good source for the rubber grommets that the side panel posts snap into? There is only one on my new 87. Thanks Dean

Does anyone know if F4Customs makes a tall windshield for the RSTD? I'd like to get a little wider windshield but have been hesitant to go with the Clearview due to a number of posts about terrible shipment times. If anyone has suggestions, I'm all ears...

I'm probably just missing it again but I was trying to do a search for all posts on a certain date. In the advanced there is a date function but it requires you to also be searching for a word. Is there a way to search for ALL posts from all forums on a specific day or range of days?

Aloha, Just returned from a riding trip in Central and Southern, CA on my 2006 Venture. It appears that it's time to replace my battery on my 06 Venture. Located a discussion on the same subject back in 2006. Wondering if battery technology has changed since the 2006 posts that I should consider, especially since I've noticed replacement batteries ranging from $50 to $140. Thanks in advance for your sage advice.

If I come on to this sight after being off for awhile the main page is new as it should be. New posts and all. if I click on a post and read it and then go back. It takes me back to old posts days ago. If I hit refresh all is well again untill I read another post and then get out of it the new page is gone and replaced with old posts. What is going on?

Wow....!! I haven't been on since late yesterday afternoon, and there were only 21 new posts this morning, and after checking I see 225 members logged in. Talk about being slow lately. I really never pay any attention to the logged members, but I normally get 50+ new posts when I check in the AM... Are we all getting bored???

Can we get an 'edit' button in the RESTAURANT forum. It would be helpful when if we should happen to make multiple posts, or if an establishment should go out of business or change their quality of food. Personally, I now have 3 posts for one place (took about 3 minutes for the post to process, and the post button continued to work) and 2 places that have lost their status of excellence, and one place has closed. So I need to EDIT.

Help Please I Need A Question Answered!!!! I bought a complete triple tree from Squid to use on my 89 1300 Venture Royal after I send it off to Steerite and have it modified. In another post about the difference between 83 to 93 - 1200 vs 1300 triple trees it talks about the 2 splined handle bar mounting posts bolting on the 1300. Does that mean if I have the one with the bolt on mounting posts it is a 1300 triple tree? Thanks, Vic

I am trying to do a search for posts containing the words "fuel filter". I don't want posts containing only the word "fuel" nor do I want posts containing only the word "filter". I want posts containing both words. How do I do this? And, if you're reading this and know the answer to the following, it would save me searching... What fuel filters (in-line, non stock) can I use instead of replacing the stock one (brand & part #)? I recall reading a while back where someone posted this info inclucing pics ... there was a metal one that I'm particularly interested in. My end result will be to install an in-line filter in the line under the seat and eliminate the stock filter. I've read several posts about this but for the life of me I can't find the ONE POST that lists the specific filter I want.

I've read some posts about fuel mileage, but didn't find the answers I need. Brand new, '09 TD, less than 600 miles. Crappy fuel mileage. I know the odometers are off, so that means I am getting 30 and less mpg. What if anything can I do, or tell the tech to do at the first service? We've got a 1000 mile/24 hr CVMA ride the first week of Aug. I need to better the mpgs by then if possible. Thanks for any and all help. I like this bike much better than my '07 R*, and know that I will never be able to match that fuel mileage. I just want to get it in the range of high 30's, low 40's. Thanks much, Eric Robbins
