As you can see in the pictures, I have one more cover to polish. All the covers started out looking like the stator cover. The other covers I started with 220 grit sandpaper, and worked my way up to 800 grit before switching to polishing compounds. The third image is of the stator cover after using paint stripper to remove the old finish. With this one I'm thinking of just using Black Emery polishing compound to clean up the ugly spots first then work on the whole case, working my way up to Red Rouge. I tried this on a couple of spots in the last two pics. I'm using a Dremel Tool with wool polishing wheels. Bill

I've been playing around with polishing the lower fork tubes and this is after the first go over with the emory compound. Compared with what I started with it's looking pretty good. Still have a couple of steps to go so it should get better. The thing is I have lot of pitting where the stickers were and on the inside (back) of the tubes. I'd like to be abe to smooth that out where is can be seen. The back side I'm not so worried about and it gives me a place to experiment. This may be more than a lil wet and dry sanding can handle. Not looking for a show finish but would like to clean it up a bit. Any thoughts? Mike

I have a few scratches in my front rim that I would like to fix. Other then sanding and polishing is there another way to fix the scratches. Or is sanding and polishing the best? If so whats the best polish to use?

I'm having my front forks resealed and new pregressives put in. The guy doing the work for me called me last night to say one of the fork tubes has a scratch on it. He's taking it to a machine shop today to have it "polished" out. I'm not sure what that means but wouldn't a scratch be a groove, not a raised ridge ? How would "polishing" help ? He's pretty confident, but not 100% sure, that it can be polished out so I was wondering , if it can't be polished out enough, and it's not too bad, would it be worth while trying to fill it with Locktite 660 and then polishing it down even ? Anybody ever try a filler on a fork tube scratch ?

I want to share with you the Tach Mount that Renne and his buddy made for me. I stopped at Renne's on the day we had the M&E in Minnesota. A thought I had an idea to mount my tach to the RSV. So said to Renne I wanted to pick his brain on how to mount the tach I had and I should him the tach and the piece of metal brought to show him what I was contemplating. Well he says set id down there I gotta a couple of ideas. Well a week later he calls be tells me my mount is done. We were going up to my bother-in-laws and so I had to go right by Renne's place so I stopped and here is what he came up with. (see pictures attached This was the poto-type mount so it is unpolished and anadized or any surface treatment. I am going to start polishing it with fine sandpaper then polishing cream. I will see how it comes out. I be liking it!!!!!!! I saw this product advertised on on of the porgrams I watch and was wondering if anyone has used it or even seen it? What do you think of it? There is a dealer close by in Richmond BC I thought I might give it a try. I'm thinking of polishing up some of the aluminum this winter and this might help to keep it shiney longer. Looking forward to your comments. http://www.sharkhide.com
