From what material and what method do you use to make a mold to make a replacement tab ... those tabs that, for example, hold the side covers on on a 1st gen.?? I'm thinking a mold where you'd pour the Plastex into and then once hardened, the mold could be either simply removed (such as a 2-piece mold) or just broken off. Pics and instructions would be great... do we already have this somewhere???

While trying to find a new source for Plastex I came across this site http://www.aircraftspruce.ca/catalog/cmpages/01-00542-45.php?clickkey=57384 for all purposes this seems to be Plastex under another name. I do not know how currant the info is but if it is there are a few locations in the USA and one here in Ontario. It appears you can mail order or purchase over the counter if you are close enough. Here is a link for you Americans http://www.aircraftspruce.com/search/search.php?s=plastifix&x=48&y=17 A list of locations Spruce Locations West - Corona, CA East - Peachtree City, GA Canada - Brantford, ON International Reps Avionics Affiliates

Well I finally got to use "Plastex" When removing the front lower cowling to drain and reservice my anti-freeze, I broke off a tab... I ordered the Plastex The link is below if you are interested. It arrived yesterday. Read the instructions and watch a short video they sent with the kit, then dove in. It could not be easier. It is drying as I write. I have some touch up paint, so after it is all dry I am going to paint it over. The pictures below don't look too good, but you can see how the repair went. Like I said "it could not have been easier" http://plastex.net/

When I got my RSV the previous owner had superglued the windshield chrome strip because he had broken off the end mounting tab that the screw goes thru. I poked around and ran across the Plastex kit. This is the first time I have ever used a glue type product and not made a mess. No glue on the fingers...no glue on the table...no glue on the stuff I wasn't trying to glue. I have no doubt that the tab is stronger than it was originally. The price for that part is around 140 bucks... the Plastex was 21 after shipping. I have enough left over to do this repair 100 times. Great product that works!! Frank

Finally after being down for over a year I finally rolled the scoot out and took her for her first ride since she was wrecked in the accident last sumer when a guy run me of the road, and it felt GGGGGGRRREAT!!!! I was a little nervous at 1st not trusting any cage wthin 100 yards of me but it wasn't long and soon I felt right at home. I still have a few chrome pcs to put on but i have all winter for that. It was a little dishearting when I rolled out the scoot at the same time as my nieghbour rolled out his snow blower to get it ready for winter however, but I intend to make the most of the time we have left. I remembered the rule so here are the pics. i repaired all the fairings with plastex. the left one is actually made up of sections from my old one and part of a damaged used one welded together with plastex. then i sanded it all down and repainted everything. I must admit if one takes the time to look they will see the paint job is not perfect but since I am not a painter I cant complain. More importantly I am riding again :dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool:

I'm fixing up a 200l RSV salvage I picked up on Ebay. The bike was dumped and there was mostly cosmetic damage. I've been using Plastex to fix broken and missing tabs and mending cracks. This stuff works great!
