I'm looking for the color code for the pinstripes on an 08 RSV, the Black Cherry model. I can't seem to find it any where.

How do I get the glue residue off the body panels after removing the pinstripes on a 1st gen?? I used a heat gun to soften pinstripes , then used a putty knife to remove the decal. Then thinner removed the bulk of the residue, but there is still a layer of adhesive the thinner won't touch. I can scrape it with a razor blade. I would rather not have to resort to this as I will end up nicking panels quite a bit, and time consuming. Any ideas ??? Gary

Hey folks, just throwing this out there to see if there is any interest, if not, no big deal. There is a local pinstriper in the Cleveland area that does really nice pinstripes, cartoon characters, etc. on bikes of all kinds. I have asked him if he would be interested in setting up and doing some of this work on bikes at Maintenance Day. He is interested but can't commit because his wife is expecting on June 11th. He said he would like to do it though and will try to make it IF there is any interest. So...is there any interest? He does pinstripes, names, characters, etc. Don't know what his prices are but I know that he typically charged about $100.00 per bike but said that he does give group rates. I will find out more if there is any interest but don't want to waste his time if there is not.

The pin-striping that Yamaha installed 25 years ago... well it's glue penetrated the plastic and causes major issues when I sprayed a primer coat to smooth a bit better. I had to switch to a non reactive nasty cynocryalate based sealer to bury the mess that the pinstripes made in the plastic to make it go away. The problem happened on every location on the bike where there was a pinstripe. IF you leave the pinstripes there and are fine with a bump under your new paint this will not be an issue, but I wanted it right so I razored off all pinstripes, sanded everything smooth and started the painting. ugly crinkles appeared, reappeared, reappeared until I found something that would not react and bury it. now the parts are as smooth as glass and ready for paint. Oh another note: most of the emblems on the bike are there to hide major ugly casting marks when the bike parts were made. if you want everything smooth, you have to use flexible plastic filler to fill them and make them disappear.
