  1. My Verizon contract is up and I'm considering switching to Straight Talk smart phones from Walmart. They offer unlimited everything for $45 a month. They also offer Android OS using either GSM or CDMA systems. Verizon is CDMA and they do have the best coverage out there. Does Straight Talk CDMA use the verizon towers ? I'm looking for opinions of Straight Talk cell phone users about how their coverage is with either GSM or CDMA phones when away from the big cities and interstates. My concern is not having a signal while riding the back roads.
  2. .....But it sure does feel like it! Just a quick note to let y'all know were still alive and kicking. This new house is gonna kill me Been living init since the last week of March and still have way too much to do, still not a complete kitchen If nayone needs to get ahold of either Lonna or myself use our phones to do it. We still dont have internet at the house (thats a whole nother fiasco) and I wont be able to get on the site for days at a time. Hope all is well with everyone and eventually we'll get a life back, be safe and we'll ttyl
  3. Has anyone gone this route? If so what do you think? I've read this review and folks seem to think it will work for faxing and work all the phones in the house. http://the-gadgeteer.com/2011/07/22/magicjack-plus-review/ Is it too good to be true?
  4. Well we all went off and jumped off the deep end and took advantage of the black friday sale at metro pcs. So we all three go trapsing down there and buy us each one of those there so called smart alec phones. You could have fooled me it don't seem so smart to me . All weekend we have all three been holed up in different rooms trying to get aquainted with our new smart alec phones. None of us must be very smart alec phone savy cause we can't seem to be able to make any of them do right. Every once in a while one of us will let out a stream of them cursing words followed by threats to hurl them out the window. I'm about tempted to go down the street and find me a twelve year old to hire to show us how to work these dang things.
  5. I admit it. I am overwhelmed by all of this audio technology. My VR has an intercom system but I don't have the headsets. I do have bluetooth headsets for our cell phones. Does anyone make a box that will enable our two headsets to talk to each other? Music isn't important to us but it would be cool if it had music input.
  6. Please send this information to ALL your family & friends, especially those who have kids in the car with them while pumping gas. If this were to happen, they may not be able to get the children out in time. MUST READ, EVEN IF YOU DON'T OWN A CAR. Shell Oil Comments - A MUST READ! Safety Alert! Here are some reasons why we don't allow cell phones in operating areas, propylene oxide handling and storage area, propane, gas and diesel refueling areas. The Shell Oil Company recently issued a warning after three incidents in which mobile phones (cell phones) ignited fumes during fueling operations In the first case, the phone was placed on the car's trunk lid during fueling; it rang and the ensuing fire destroyed the car and the gasoline pump. In the second, an individual suffered severe burns to their face when fumes ignited as they answered a call while refueling their car! And in the third, an individual suffered burns to the thigh and groin as fumes ignited when the phone, which was in their pocket, rang while they were fueling their car. You should know that: Mobile Phones can ignite fuel or fumes Mobile phones that light up when switched on or when they ring release enough energy to provide a spark for ignition Mobile phones should not be used in filling stations, or when fueling lawn mowers, boat, etc. Mobile phones should not be used, or should be turned off, around other materials that generate flammable or explosive fumes or dust, (I.e., solvents, chemicals, gases, grain dust, etc...) TO sum it up, here are the Four Rules for Safe Refueling: 1) Turn off engine 2) Don't smoke 3) Don't use your cell phone - leave it inside the vehicle or turn it off 4) Don't re-enter your vehicle during fueling. Bob Renkes of Petroleum Equipment Institute is working on a campaign to try and make people aware of fires as a result of 'static electricity' at gas pumps. His company has researched 150 cases of these fires. His results were very surprising: 1) Out of 150 cases, almost all of them were women. 2) Almost all cases involved the person getting back in their vehicle while the nozzle was still pumping gas. When finished, they went back to pull the nozzle out and the fire started, as a result of static. 3) Most had on rubber-soled shoes. 4) Most men never get back in their vehicle until completely finished. This is why they are seldom involved in these types of fires. 5) Don't ever use cell phones when pumping gas 6) It is the vapors that come out of the gas that cause the fire, when connected with static charges. 7) There were 29 fires where the vehicle was re-entered and the nozzle was touched during refueling from a variety of makes and models. Some resulted in extensive damage to the vehicle, to the station, and to the customer. 8) Seventeen fires occurred before, during or immediately after the gas cap was removed and before fueling began. Mr. Renkes stresses to NEVER get back into your vehicle while filling it with gas. If you absolutely HAVE to get in your vehicle while the gas is pumping, make sure you get out, close the door TOUCHING THE METAL, before you ever pull the nozzle out. This way the static from your body will be discharged before you ever remove the nozzle. As I mentioned earlier, The Petroleum Equipment Institute, along with several other companies now, are really trying to make the public aware of this danger. I ask you to please send this information to ALL your family and friends, especially those who have kids in the car with them while pumping gas. If this were to happen to them, they may not be able to get the children out in time.
  7. 1" the best I can tell. Is this correct ? Thinking about adding some speakers and an amp for my tunes. I do not like the ear phones. Thanks any and everyone.... James

  9. just bought a wireless head set for my tv. this thing is awesome. it is made by sony. there are several other brands out there but this was reasonably priced for $79.95 at radeo shack, and highly recommended by thier electronics wizard. i had some way more expensivs ones in mind on the net for $239.00 that i tried at my friends house. this one sounds better then his. here's how they work. there is a transmitter charger that the head phones sit in that plugs into the audio out put on the back of the tv. they have a separate volume control on the phones and you can change the tv volume and mute it without affecting the phones. basically my wife can listen to the volume she wants which is usually very low, and i can set my volume to what i like. they work absolutely perfect. i barely have to turn my volume up to hear the tv perfect. the head phones are very high quality, and recharge when you set them back in the base transmitter. they will recieve the signal up to 150 feet from the tv. the model no. is # MDR-RF925RK you can probably get more info on the sony website. the frequency responce is incredible, great base and treble. topnotch product. there will now be no more arguing between me and linda about the tv blasting. bill :clap2:
  10. Be carefull if you are an alltel customer. they just sold out to verizon and soon a lot of their phones will be obsolete. So if you are looking for a new phone ask first. David
  11. i just watched a short video clip, sent by my sister. these people were actually causing popcorn to pop, by pointing three or four cell phones at the kernels, and then calling the phones and letting them ring a few times! what kinda power source is doing that? just jt:confused24:
  12. So, I check my bank statement online and see im 600.00 negative in my checking acct. Someone has so graciously ordered new cell phones using my bank card. They arrived today!! 2 new Blackberry Curves. Nice, only thing the fool used his name on the order. Police came and took the package as "fruits of a crime". Had the card cancelled yesterday and am now waiting for the charges to go from pending to posted so the bank can launch an investigation and refund my money. I called the company he ordered it from and spoke to some moron in India, who tried to sell me some more phones after I told him this was a fraudulent order. Im hoping the detectives find this guy before I do....
  13. Hi everyone. Just thought I'd say hola from Mazatlan. We have been here since last Wednesday and aren't going back to Indiana until Saturday. Needless to say, I should get a bit of color in this pasty white skin! Having the bike down here would have been cool as heck. Now you have to get used to the way folks drive, but I believe they aren't too bad. They aren't distracted by cell phones and such. Well back to the beach. It's a routine. Lay around in the sun, read a book, drink alot of water then on to the stronger stuff. Rinse, repeat.... See ya soon! 14. We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Campaign The concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name "ICE" ( In Case Of Emergency). The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as "ICE." For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference! Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today! Please forward this. It won't take too many "forwards" before everybody will know about thisIt really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest . ICE will speak for you when you are not able to.
  15. Since bar bag cannot be used, any 2nd gen owner ever use the dashboard for small items like eye glasses, cell phones, smokes, gar door opener, toll change, etc? If so pics & description would be appreciated.
  16. I suspect that with all the new high capacity cell phones that there will soon be no reason for stand alone MP3 players. I just became eligible to upgrade to a new cell phone under my current plan. I started looking and actually got one and then took it back because it didn't support the memory that they said it did. I had 4 Verizon store associates and two a the technical support number tell many different things but NONE of them knew the products that they are selling. So, as usual I found it best to do my own research. I'm glad that I did because there are some great new phones hitting the stores next month and I'll wait for one of them. So, what I am talking about is that several new phones coming out will support 8GB of storage via the micro sdhc chip. That is the same as an IPOD Nano. I like the idea of not having to take my cell phone AND my MP3 player on the bike or anywhere else for that matter. Not only is the 8GB chip now available, but they soon you will be able to get them with up to 32GB. That's a LOT of songs folks. I have over 100 complete CDS on my IPOD and am only using about 8GB of space. Many of those I never listen to or really even like, just loaded up everything I had at the time. So, what do you think? Are stand alone MP3 players going to become a thing of the past? Why would anybody want to carry around two different devices when one will do? I am really looking forward to my new phone/MP3 player next month. Here's a link to the particular one that I am looking at but others are coming to. http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/8404.html
