I just received my Tri-bar headlight. Bought it on ebay from a Yamaha dealer. Its a factory Yamaha part, New in Box, date code on the label is 2004. The glass lens isn't perfectly clear. Taken by itself its not too bad, but its real noticeable compared to the Tribar passing lamps, which have perfectly clear lenses. The lens has just enough distortion to make the chrome tribar cover inside the housing look fuzzy, like the prescription in your glasses is off. Lens isn't dirty or foggy, just looks like the way the glass was made. Anybody else have this or notice this? Debating on whether or not to send back to seller. They aren't that easy to find though. Wondering if they all came through this way? Thanks, RSTDdog

Took my VR out for a ride today and noted that the fuel gauge, which had been down to 4 bars yesterday, was now showing full. In fact there was a bar where the "Full" usually resides. I had it up to 200 km (about 125 miles) with no change, then as I took a fairly sharp right hander at an intersection, it dropped down to 5 bars and the "Full" reappeared. Once I straightened up, it went back to about 6 bars. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this (Besides some prohibitively expensive part needing replacement.)? Oh yeah, also...I've not had previous experience with a VR before and do't know anyone with one around here. So...on deceleration, when it gets down to around 2,000 r.p.m., there's a sound coming from under the "Gas tank" that sounds like...well...slapping, popping. I know that's not the best description, but for now, it's all I have. It may be perfectly normal, but I've never had that particular sound on any bike I've owned before. And finally (Don't newbies get annoying after a while?), when I start it up (Hot or cold) the motor spins a couple of revs then seems to "hang" for a split second then starts. Again, does that sound normal? I'm really going to have to find someone with a MKII to do some comparing.

Yesterday, wife and I were out and about, just enjoying getting on the bike for a time. We were heading out of OKC on the freeway when we were passed by two Motor Officers, riding side by side at about 70 MPH. I picked up speed and stayed behind them for a while just watching them. Like I said, we were traveling at 70 MPH, the two officers were exactly side-by-side. The thing was, there were never more than 2-4 inches between the tips of their handlebars, always perfectly aligned. They were talking and laughing with each other, apparently perfectly relaxed, looking around enjoying the day as much as I was. I followed them through several lane changes, passing cars, until they took an exit. Never did they move further apart or get ahead of the other, during these manuvers. They never looked down at where they were in relation to the other, they just seemed to know. I consider myself a fairly smooth and consistant rider, but I cannot imagine riding that close on purpose. The confidence you must have, not only in yourself but in your partner, is way beyond any I could muster. It was a beautiful thing to see.

Raining today and thought I would change the air filters and sync the carbs. Really no problem, except that I cannot seem to do it at 1000 rpms or 1050. I need it to be at about 2000 or above and it syncs perfectly. It is not that far off at 1000, but is seems this is what the manual calls for. Any ideas or suggestions? Any problems leaving it this way?
