Well, It finally happened. I was involved in a motorcycle wreck. Only major damage to me is I have no palms and no hide on my left side. The really bad thing is they consider the bike totalled. The question is do I keep the bike with lower payment from the insurance or turn it over and get a new one? I will post pics when I can.

Hello, I need some advice, I am selling my 1985 Yamaha VR 1200, I am asking $3000 firm. A person emiled me and wants to ship my bike to Sounth America but to do this he has sent me $3960.00 via paypal. This $3960 is on a hold till I make a $960.00 payment through westerin union to the shipping company with my OWN MONEY. Do you think this is scetchy? From the guys trying to buy my bike: "Before i make the payment,there is something i need you to be aware of,i just received an email from the shipping company that will be in charge of the pick up.They are saying i need to pay them their fees which is $900 before they proceed with coming for it and the only form of payment that they accept is Western Union Money Transfer.Where i am,the nearest union office is 8hrs where i am overseas,I dont know if it will be ok,if i include this agent's fees in the payment i will be sending you now,so on receipt of the total funds,you will remove the additional funds of $900 and help me send it at your local Western Union office.Let me know if this is ok and i will proceed with the payment." shortly after this email, I didn't even get back to him yet and he already put the $3960 into my paypal. I feel he is sort of pushing me into the situation where I have to make the $960 payment(with my own Money) to a shipping company that I do not know and the shipping company picks up on Sundays?. I do not not how W.U. works but i know how paypal works and i know with few clicks of a mouse that $3000 could be back in there bank. Any input will be greatly appreciated, Brendan

Well Medicare says they MUST give me my money back for the non-working back brace. Says it's in the contract to get paid by medicare they have to take back any and all equipment that is unable to be used as designed. Stayed very calm and polite every time I talked with the brace company, the surgeons office (who they blamed) and Hospital (who they blamed) and Medicare. Since the billing had not went through medicare yet they will also loose the balance of the $1290.00 medicare would of paid them. Medicare told me to take the brace back tomorrow and get a returned item receipt with payment. If they will not do this I'm to call medicare back from there and they will tell them again and will stop all payment to them for ALL medicare claims until they do. Does not pay to mess with Venture riders. Feel a whole lot better. $389.60 for the bike.

Greetings and happy new year everybody. Been away for quite some time but am over the hill here at my work in Norway and intend to visit the site more frequently. Sadly I wont be able to show up at Freebirds Maintenance day this year but it is on my "to do list" for the year 2011. And since I am not coming then there is this great oppurtunity to do some work on my USA based bike. Had a talk with Earl (Skydoc1) the other night and lured him into doing some engine work on my bike. Want to swap the cams and the measly 28mm carbs for V-Max cams and the 32mm Venture carbs. Parts are in general easy to get except for the Venture carbs. So I was wondering if any of you guys and girls would know of a set lying around in someones garage that would be available. Payment through PayPal or by transferring into account. Or any othe rpreferred payment method by sellers choice. Last but not least - thanks for last summer guys. It was simply unbelievable and I had the time of my life. Still getting nightmares though of BigTom approaching me in womans underwear with a funny look on his face - but my shrink is working on it. from US and now they're putting it right in my pocket. I'm behind on my Chase card. Hmmm, how can this be? I have the money auto deducted from my account every month. Oh, wait Chase arbitrarily raised my monthly payment . Now, I've seen that this can be done, in the small print, but in 40 years I've never had this happen before. To make a long story short I get a letter from them (Chase) offering to assist me by and I quote: Reduce your interest rate Reduce your monthly payment Reduce your debt Reduce your worries So naturally I give them a call. All they want to assist with is lightening my already lighter than air wallet. In fact the only help I got so far was immediate cancellation of the Chase card. I'm supposed to call them back with my life and debt history, but I can't see it. I guess I'm in a trick here and don't really know what to do. Thanks for listening.

well I had to remove the raffle ticket option from the registration page this morning....seems paypal does not allow the sale of raffle tickets, etc. violation of their policys......i had to do it or they could close my account. i guess the big issue was having payment buttons for paypal associated with it. I could have left the raffle ticket info on there but had to remove their payment buttons so if anyone wants to purchase raffle tickets for the 09 rally yet thru paypal you will need to send payment directly to vrrally2009@yahoo.com 1 for $10 3 for $25 the St jude raffle tickets for the belt buckets are 1 for $5 3 for $10

Anyone who needs to back out of the rally from this point on please read this. T shirts and patches have been ordered and paid for at this point......so if you have to back out for some reason it would be appreciated if you would still keep your tshirts and patches and of course your raffle tickets. Dinner has not been paid for so that can still be refunded. We can recalculate your payments to reflect no dinner and send you a check for refund if your paypal / credit card payment is more than 60 days old. If your payment has been within 60 days i can refund via paypal, otherwise we will loose the paypal fees and loose more by refunding. It would be like like loosing the fees twice and you would loose fees by getting a payment. thanks!

I have a used rear shock for a 1st gen. sitting in my garage that is for sale. It's used so I cannot make any comments about it's condition. My suggestion is that when someone buys it, they either make the payment in the form of a donation to the site or pay me, and I will do the same with that payment. No idea what it's worth or what to ask for it, so make an offer. I can take a pic of it if anyone needs one. Delivery arrangements can be made later. I'm going to Don's maintenance day so I could bring it along, if that helps.

Thought I would post this information here for any of our member Vets who are planning on drawing their Social Security. Anyone who has served on active duty prior to January 2002 is qualified for a higher SS payment because of their military service at any time during the period of 1957 through 2001. You can qualify for up to $1,200.00 per year of earning creidits applied at time of application. This can make a substantial difference in your month social security payment upon retirement. You must bring your DD-214 to the SS office. and you must ask for this benefit to receive it. This is not just for military retirees, but for anyone having active duty service during the eligability period. But You must ask for it. I have filled out census forms for five decades and this one is unbelievable. They question you about everything. It is like a diary of your living. I don't feel comfortable in the "confidetiallity" of it. Why does it matter how many rooms, how far to work, how many people ride with me, how much I earned last year (to the dollar), etc? They want to know everything about all occupants of the household and your house payment. They even admit it takes thirty-eight minutes to fill it out! I feel like I am being set up as a "stimulus" to pay back the trillions that our government gave away to others. I'm mad

For those of you who buy on credit a question? Yamaha factory financing rates are 7.99% for 72 months. Is this a good deal compared to say a bank? Are motorcycle financing rates higher then an automobile? I have used Yamaha before on ATV financing and found the minimum payment due is less then half the normal monthly payment on promotion.I never had to use that option but found it nice in case of temporary hard times. No money down just sign and drive. Don't forget about the catch though. If a payment is missed the default rate goes to say 27% or if the promotion is not paid in full at 72 months you can expect 18.99% for the balance.Banks may be cheaper interest but require money down or shorter terms.No I'm not buying just always looking.

I am having a problem with an Ebay seller, who is also a member of this board. I thought I'd vent a bit, and let folks know about what going on. About a month ago I picked up a couple of auctions from him, and sent the guy a check ,since he doesn't take paypal. I waited for about 3 weeks and then checked my checking account online, and saw that it hadn't cleared yet. So I contacted him asking about the check. He said he'd never received it, but I'd never received a notice from Ebay about it either. OK, so I go to his website and go ahead and send him a VISA payment. I also said I'd put a stop-pay on the original check. I drug my feet, and didn't do it right away. My bad. I received the items in about 3 days...great.., but when I went onliine with my bank to take care of the stop pay, bigger than all get out, there's the check taken out of my balance. Amazingly it was cashed about the same time the VISA payment had been made. So I email the seller about it. 4-5 times over 5 days. I called him on the phone...all I get is a busy signal...24/7. I think I'm being ignored as he's still currently posting items for sale on Ebay. I'm not sure how I'm going to handle getting my secong payment back, or even if I ever will. Filing bank fraud is one way, and contesting the VISA payment might be another, or I may have just been scammed. Loosing the money isn't going to kill me, but it sure pisses me off....

Is it true that 50% of crotch rocket riders have no insurance,motorcycle operators, or both? Apparently I am dealing with a kid. Won't call me on the phone but he bid and won the auction for my Vmax. He paid the $500 down in 48 hrs but the balance in full date has past. He said he wanted to come up and get it and ride it back but his ride bailed out on him. I told him send me payment in full (were communicating via email) and I will mail you overnite the bill of sale and signed title. Then you can buy your insurance,tags,etc and ride it back. He says he don't want to send payment in full with no bike and I understand that. Says he has 3 days to get tags and insurance. OK but the day we close the deal my tags and insurance comes off and it's yours. You might want to take the vin number buy your insurance then see if you can get a one way permit. He even wanted to know if I had a helmet MAN buy your own helmet that fits your head. I don't even know if he knows how to ride. Anyway even offered to deliver it to Virginia for little more then gasoline and lunch cost. Still waiting I wish he would call me but so far only email.
