This was our 1st Patriot Guard Ride, this past Saturday. It was to honor a young 21 year old local hero who died in an Army training mission. He had completed 1 tour in Afghanistan. They requested the Patriot Guards to do just a flag line at the church. We were called to attention when the mother and the grandparents made a special point to come out and shake each of our hands thanking us for our participation. I rarely tear up so this was a rare occasion for me. It was such an honor to meet the family and a heart felt experience. I’ve included a few pictures of the group. The last picture is on the old Buckley Hwy, with Mt Rainier in the back ground, and my wife Rachel and Cherry Pie, my 91 Venture. Actually our 1st Patriot Guard mission was a hospitality mission back in the summer of 2011, where we drove our truck and trailer to help moved a recent widow of another one of our young fallen veteran hero.

I have signed up with the Indiana Patriot Guide Riders. My questions are, how many of you belong to both the National and a State orginization? How many to just one of them, State or National? Are there any advantages or disadvantages to belonging to both or just one? If you belong to both do you fly/display the National Patriot Guide flag, decals, etc. or the State items? Or maybe some of both? Thanks in advance for your response(s).

My Mom and Dad were just awarded this by the State of Maine Patriot Guard Riders. The award will now be given out annually in my parents name. All 6 of us kids are proud of Mom and Dad and their involvement with The Patriot Guard Riders.

This past saturday me and Renate participated in the Patriot Guard,s annual fundraiser. Last year they had about 1,000 bikes but this year the unofficial total was close to 2,500. it was big enough that our governor, Tim Pawlenty, made an appearance and speech . It was a great day for a ride, especially when you get to run red lights while cars wait for you to pass. How long they waited i have no idea but i couldn,t see the front or rear of the column. Here are some pics of a great event and even better cause.

Today, I heard a bunch of bikes outside, and when I looked, there were motorcycle troopers leading 2 buses full of Ft. Campbell soldiers coming back home. They were followed by about 50 riders, and several cars, all displaying flags. It was pouring rain...hard...really hard. I am sure they were Patriot Guard members. I have thought about joining the Patriot Guard for some time now, and I know there are several members on here. Could one of you hook me up with a number and name of a chapter that is close to me in West Tennessee? I would REALLY appreciate it. Us Vets like to take care of each other. Thanks in advance. I was at a funeral in chestertown on monday 3/23 and saw a 2nd. gen red venture there and was not able to catch up with the owner. If you are a member here, I would like to catch up sometime and ride. I have an 05 RSTD. It was nice of the patriot guard to ride for the gentleman who had passed away. Bill:337:

How many here belong to the Patriot Guards? I was reading a little about this group this weekend, I like what they stand for and was wondering about a few things about them. Do you have to be a veteran to belong? Do they have local meeting places? How often are you required to be available? While writing this post I realized I could have just gone to their web site. But then I wanted to here from some Patriot Guards from this group. Thanks for any information you can give me. BigD
