That time of year again. The Parade is coming up this Sunday, March 18, 2012 Everyone's It's the unofficial start of riding season in Dodge County, WI. Our ABATE region has had an entry in this parade for better than 25 years. We've had as many as 80 bikes on the warmer years. Line up is on Crocker St, about 3 blocks south of downtown, off highway 33. Parade starts at 1, downtown party afterwards. If anyone here wants to join us, and would like more details, let me know. From the looks of the weather forecast:sun:, I think there will be waayy more than the 1 bike that was in it last year at 35 degrees and pouring rain. Later, Scooter Bob and Karen P.S. Our 05 midnite will be there with an 8 foot flag pole on the hitch.

Anyone near Iowa interested in participating in a parade? My wife got volunteered to help with planning this years Crooked Creek parade and is looking to expand the usual ten float parade. She suggested that I see if there are at least 6 people interested, me plus 5. Have no idea how I get roped in on these things but we got to keep our other half happy ,right? Shaun Around August 6th

Thought this was an interesting article in the New York Times recently. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/06/automobiles/06AUDIO.html In this article, it also shares light on CD players: Audio seers say that the CD, too, will eventually fade away. Technology marches on, and automakers are wary of becoming stragglers in that parade.

Today was the 5th annual Emily Keyes Memorial Parade. In No one remembers, you can go to www.iloveuguys.org and read the story about "the ride". According to the police, there were OVER 5,000 bikes there today. After walking around, I found 5 other late 80's VR!!! I KNOW there were many more newer models and possibly more of the older models. It was Amazing. It was my Brother-in-laws FIRST ride with more than just 2 or 3 people. He loved it. We met a wonderful member of Venturerider.org, Bob, i think his name was. I had a small problem with my kickstand saftey switch and he tried to help. THANK YOU BOB!!!! I appreciate it!! I also send a THANK YOU for all the riders that were there today. It was a GREAT day for a ride!!! I could only imagine what 5,000 VR's would be like!!! Thanks for letting me ramble on!!!

I've lived in the Canton Ohio area for most of my life but this year will be my first time to watch the parade live. We have grandstand seating at the American Legion just about midway on the parade route, should be a fun day. Not going to the enshrinement, way too busy for me, not to mention we wouldn't be able to get within earshot of the proceedings.

Had a great time riding this weekend as the TRA group I belong to was invited to ride in the Cokeville, WY Pioneer Days Parade. We had a great ride up and back (about 320 miles) with me on the Venture and Jan on the Sportster (Rick, the seat helped a bunch), a fun time throwing candy to the kids that lined the parade route, and some tasty dutch oven food on Friday and Saturday. I even managed to take a few pictures of the event. On Saturday afternoon, while pulling out of the motel, I was passed by three 2nd Gen Ventures and a fourth bike (didn't see what it was) They were heading south on Hwy 30, anyone from here? I'm ready to do some more Wyo. riding in September at the Roundup. Hope everyone here will think about making this trip. Beartooth and Yellowstone are two of the great rides we'll be taking. Dave

A bunch of my local riding buddies and myself turned out for One of our watering hole's Bev's Place (Bev is in the the patriotic mini skirt) to ride in the Stone Mountain 4th of July Parade. It was fun, never rode in a parade before.

I've recently found out that Eagle Nest, NM has a 4th of July parade. I've also heard that it's usually attended by about 5000 spectaturs, which I find is very remarkable given the small size of the town. Anyhow, to "toot my own horn" so to speak, I've signed up to play in a band for the parade. A former band director from Amarillo, TX now spends 3/4's of the year in Eagle Nest. He had the brainstorm of an idea to form a band for the parade. I just happened to find out about it when looking up some old friends on Facebook. Anyhow, if any of you guys and gals just happen to be attending this parade this year, keep an eye out for an exceedingly tall tuba player riding on a 20' trailer with a bunch of other former band geeks.

I need a couple of volunteers to help me out with Law Ride this year. The ride is on May 10th (yes Mother's Day) and is a parade in DC that honors fallen LE officers. Now the reason I need help.................A member of my church is a widow of a fallen Richmond Officer. Officer Doug Wendel was killed in the line of duty on 7/30/03 when he responded to a call involving a drug dealer. Anne attends many activities during Police Week but has never been to Law Ride so I offered to take her this year. 2 of her children also want to ride in the parade (Charlie is 9 and Bergita is 13). I need 2 volunteers to take a passenger for the parade. Anne has not ridden in years and the kids never have, so they are going to drive to DC to park and then ride into RFK for Law Ride. I figure we will go to East Potomac Park and have them park there and then ride in for the parade itself. If there is anyone in the N. VA, DC, Maryland area who is planning on attending Law Ride or can help out I would appreciate it.

It's the unofficial start of riding season in Dodge County, WI. Our ABATE region has had an entry in this parade for better than 20 years. With the rain coming tomorrow to wash off the roads, and the predicted 46 degrees, and the looong winter, we should get a nice turnout again this year. We've had as many as 80 bikes on a little warmer years. Parade starts at 1, downtown party afterwards. If anyone here wants to join us, and would like more details, let me know. Later, Scooter Bob and Karen P.S. since I'm the Regional Rep, the ABATE group bike ride through the parade will be led by our 05 midnite with an 8 foot flag pole on the hitch.

On Tuesday I and many other Patriot Guard Riders did a ride to New York(from Connecticut) to ride in the Veterans Day Parade there. The turnout of motorcycles was awesome! Anywhooo.....I met a Forum member from here who was on his 2006 Black Cherry RSV.....and danged if I can remember the guys name!! We chatted for a bit and looked each other's scoot over for sure. Hope you see this and respond dude....It was a pleasure meeting you and seeing your RSV! Boomer.....with a failing memory.

Anyone know of a parade flag holder that will fit on a 2nd gen. without a trailer hitch? thanks all

I think a bunch of us should all get together on the fourth of July and do some advertising for the group and the website, and ride in the parade in Chetek, WI. I'm gonna check and see if there is going to be a bike show again this year too. I got best in show last year.

What a weekend I had . Got up bright and early 3:00 a.m. Saturday to start the days event . As a member of Rolling Thunder NC-5 , I began leaving the house to meet up with another member at 4:00 a.m. to eat breakfast then to the rally point on which kickstands up at 5:30 a.m to begin our journey to Raleigh , NC . At which Rolling Thunder was invited to participate in the parade Also RT was the only private organization and motorcycle group there . NC-4 was the host chapter there and led the group ,but this also the first time that all chapters rode together as a group other than the DC ride . Other than RT being there , they did allow some High School Marching Band to attend . History was made this day , as being the largest Parade in NC to this date . There was over 50,000 spectators there to show support for our troops . As we started from the staging area unto the parade , we got the surprise of our life as Senator Dole asked to ride with us on a motorcycle . As she was wearing a business dress/skirt , it would have been very unlady-like for here to ride . So there was one member on a Scooter with a Voyager kit on it , which allowed here to ride lady-like on . It was a surprise all together , even to her aid and bodyguards and to the news group . No one expected this at all ! This was the the second and most largest parade I have ridden in . The parade was a 1 1/2 mile long and took almost an hour to complete . I pulled the BEERCART equipped with the POW-MIA and the American flag upon it . I even took one to the serviceman's daughter as co-pilot . This will be an event I will never forget . As the politicians and military leaders that were there , they expressed they wished for RT to be at all the next forthcoming parades as this will be a annual event now . Here are some video's of the days events ; (News clip) http://www.wral.com/news/local/video/2798619 (Entire Parade) 1 hour long . http://www.wral.com/news/local/video/2798244 RT is about 46 minutes into the footage . Here you will the a glimpse of the BEERCART and myself . After a brief banner of days events , you will see a reporter interviewing Sen. Dole on back of the scooter during the parade . Listen closely as the main news caster comment about here and especially about NC's motorcycle helmet laws ! After the parade , we had BBQ sandwiches with the troops and got a group picture taken with the Senator . We also got to meet with some Medal of Honor heroes . On the ride back towards home (2 1/2 ride) leaving city limits of Raleigh , all the group was in the inside lane to allow traffic entering I-40 , on which a cage suddenly lost his hood . The hood just snapped off and went sailing straight up into the air about 50 or so feet , turning end over end . All I could say on the CB was "INCOMING"!!!!!!!!( I was riding tail end) The hood safely landed on the side of the road missing everybody . Though everyones heart skipped a beat , I could only imagine what the inside of that cage smelled like .:whistling: To bad I was not running the helmet cam at that time , it would have been a sight to see . I finally arrived home around 8:00 p.m. . Hope you enjoy the footage and if ever you get the chance to participate in any cause to support our troops , I can at least say the expressions and Thanks from our Servicemen/women and their families will last in your hearts for a life time . I just really never knew how much it meant to them until now ! God Bless our Troops and their Families !!!!!! BEER30

I pledge my allegiance to the Flag , and to all the BEERCART's in America . And to all the Beer drinkers …… if they can stand , One understanding , that we’re invincible , with liquor and mixed drinks for all ! :rotf: http://www.meangene.us/pictures/BCF1.jpg On a more serious note ..... As a member of Rolling Thunder , on which we have been invited to participate in the NC Salute the troops parade in Raleigh , NC . It has been said it will be the largest parade in NC history . http://www.saluteournctroops.org/ . Here I have mounted my flags onto the BEERCART , rather than the scoot itself . The flag poles and mounts are made of aluminum . The flag poles themselves are constructed out of 1" and 3/4" ID tubing to make combined a schedule 80 rating and still lightweight . They are 8' tall themselves . The mounts are welded to the trailer tongue . I've had the BEERCART up to 65 mph with 25 mph winds (flags rolled and covered) to see how it handled and no significant signs that they were even there . I will not be traveling at high rate of speed with them , only for parade ceremony activities . Just thought I would share this with you since I haven't shared pic's in a while and also if you can , look into this Saturday's event . BEER30

I had the honor of participating in Riverside's 3rd Annual Salute to Veterans Parade. I'm with the Patriot Guard Riders, and there were about 50 bikes and 3 cages representing. I had the special honor of flying the Unites States Navy flag on my Venture up at the front along with the other services flags. Of course everyone loves a parade, but one honoring our veterans has to be the best. I actually got to meet and shake hands with a Marine Veteran who saw action in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. This Hero looked to be in his 90's, and he was just beaming with pride as we stood in awe of his life. I also shook hands with retired Army Colonel Lewis Lee Millett, a Congressional Medal of Honor receipient. Another Hero I shook hands with was Tuskegee Airmen Buford A Johnson. We were near the end of the parade, and during our three hour wait to get going, I was able to see and talk to a lot of interesting people. I especially appreciated the WWII Veterans. My dad served in the British Royal Navy during WWII, so I was thinking a lot about him as I saw these aging Heros. I had the privilege of serving aboard the battleships USS Iowa and USS Missouri when I was in the navy, and I had my USS Missouri ballcap on for the parade. A lot of the older sailors had stories about the battleships from their days. I don't have any really great photos to share of the parade itself, but I'll attach a couple from before it. It was a great day.

Wife and I rode to Madisonville, LA today for the wooden boat parade. It is held on the Tchefuncte (cha-funk-te) River, where you can see many camps that go from shacks to million dollar homes. The boats paraded are old wooden boats that look brand new and beauiful, but there are all kind of boats from kayaks to huge yachts and sail boats. The part I liked best were all the good looking ladies walking around. Just wish it was a little closer to summer so most would still be in bikinis. All in all it was a great ride up Hwy 22, a curvy road that runs along several local rivers and swamps. Dragonrider told me that it is one of his favorite roads to ride here when he is lucky enough to do so.
