I know I'm like everybody else. Always looking for the right buy at the right price and then you have to consider the shipping costs. I've passed up some decent deals over time because the shipping was WAYYYY out of line. So when I find a part I've been wanting at a competitive price with FREE SHIPPING I'm all over it. A few days ago I ran across something I'd been looking at a good price and Free Shipping. Didn'd even have to mess with bidding as it was a good ol' eBay BIN. Yea! It was even a respected seller. Even better. So when I got home today I found a package, box, (one step short of a crate) on my front porch. What the heck? Didn't order a short block! Or a Microwave oven. So I drag it in and start to open it up and start pulling out packing paper. Ended up with 2 strips of heavy packing paper that were each 35 feet long and 2 foot wide. That my friends is a lot of packing paper. So looking into the box I got the chuckles. Had to take some pics. Overkill has a new definition. So I'm still giggling at what the heck that package would have cost to ship. The postage weight on the box was 7 pounds. The part in it...... less than 3 lbs and would have fit in my mail box. So the next time you go to order a part that would fit in a regular envelope and they want $20.00 to ship it...... it's my fault. They are trying to make up the loss. Mike

Last September 6th I traded my 2009 Silverado Z71 in on a 2011 Silverado Z71 and financed a portion of the purchase price. I paid $17 doc fees and $25 Title fees. I never asked questions about it , didn't have cause to. In the middle of November I paid off the mortgage on the truck and waited for the title to arrive. The last week of November I got an 8 1/2" X 11" sheet of paper saying that I could take it to my local title department and get a title. I did and it cost $16 for what I thought I had already paid for. After a call to the dealership and talking to the business whatever she was called I found that when you finance a vehicle that there is never a title issued. Everything is "electronic" and I guess it save's the .32 cents to mail a title to you and evidently nobody ever has a clear title to their vehicle. I'm still trying to figure how I can make life miserable enough for the dealer so that they will refund my $16 that I thought I had already paid for a paper title. I'm relatively sure I won't win but it'll be fun jabbing them as often as I feel like it.

Hey, Snag, what have you heard of the guy who was killed the other day 'test riding' a motorcycle? The paper didn't say much beyond 'hitting a speed bump'.

No Sunday Paper: This is dedicated to all of us who are seniors, to all of you who know seniors, and to all of you who will become seniors. Where is my SUNDAY paper?!" The irate customer calling the newspaper office, loudly demanded to know where her Sunday edition was. "Madam", said the newspaper employee, "today is Saturday. The Sunday paper is not delivered until tomorrow, on SUNDAY". There was quite a long pause on the other end of the phone, followed by a ray of recognition as she was heard to mutter, ..."Well, $**t, that explains why no one was at church either."

Has anyone heard of or know of the FLO Oil Filters Stainless Steel Reusable Spin On Oil Filter? Re-useable / cleanable metal type oil filter supposedly tons superior to any brass or paper filter available.. $100 or so, it's not cheap but over time might be worth it? But is it worth it? Tech Overview: Constructed of laser cut, medical grade, 304 stainless steel micronic filter cloth In many cases filters provide 200 percent more filter area Stainless filter catches items down to 35 microns, which is about three times better than most good paper or brass filters Unlike glued paper filters, the FLO Oil Filter pleat seam is welded and able to withstand up to 600 degrees Filters maintain consistent flow under all conditions including extreme heat, the presence of water, and cold start ups where paper filters can flow so poorly that they often cause the bypass valve to open and allow unfiltered oil to enter your engine Should be the last filter you ever need; this high tech filter technology is widely used in all types of auto racing including NASCAR, Indy type cars, Formula 1 and in the Aerospace industry where filtration is of the utmost importance

We have one of those thin paper hooks were if more than 1 foot of paper hangs below the roll it starts to unspool on the floor. The other day I came up with a brainstorm. Before mounting the roll I slightly flatten the roll so the center is egg shaped thus stopping it from turning, except when pulling off some paper. Now my wife say's that thats just wrong, no reason, just wrong, so she will reform the roll and next thing there is a pile of paper on the floor. Can someone explain to me why my idea could possibly be wrong when it saves paper from being wasted.

I have a Garmin GPS that it suddenly seems to take a loong time to find the Satellites. - Maybe 5 or 10 minutes. My wife couldn't get it to locate ANY while she was in Dallas. She finally gave up and got the paper map out. Recently, while on a 2-week trip I carried the GPS in the leather bag on my windshield. Could the vibrations have damaged it? craigr

A biker was sitting on his bike at the zoo just watching the animals. Suddenly there were loud screams, a lion had reached through the bars and grabbed a little girl and was trying to pull her into the cage. The biker ran up and punched the lion as hard as he could right on its nose. The lion howled and let go of the little girl who was quickly pulled to safety by her family. A reporter was nearby and saw the whole thing. He went up to the biker and said " Wow that was incredibly brave." The biker replied " not realy, the lion was behind the bars and I just jumped off my bike and reacted" The reporter said "Watch the paper tomorrow I am going to report this" The next day the biker picked up a paper. The headline read... "Biker attacks African immigrant and steals his lunch!":rotf:

This is for a friend and coworker of mine. I know what a great caring group you are so I am asking if you could please help participate in this. There is no limit to the number of paper airplanes you can send. Perhaps you can get your schools, workplaces, churches, civic organizations etc to participate. Please read this following note, and I thank you for helping! BTW Shawn (the father) rides as well, a vintage Virago I believe... My son Hunter has been diagnosed with a rare form of non hotchkins lymphoma called Burkitts cancer. It only affects about 300 children a year. Usually between the ages of 2 and 11 and its usually boys but can effect girls also. Burkitts is one of the fastest growing tumors that we know of. He went into the hospital on a friday and the tumor was about the size of a tennis ball. By monday it was a little bigger than a cantalope. He was started on cemo and it shut down his kidneys and then his liver started failing. On Wednesday, He told me that he could not see very good and then he quit breathing. He had tubes placed down his throat, nose, arms, and toes. He has swelling of the brain due to high blood pressure. Hunter went into the hospital weighing 40 pounds and now weighs about 70 because of fluid build up. He is now stable and is in the intesive care unit at Buffalo Childrens Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Hunter is only five years old. I would just like everyone to know, that Hunter has been set up with the guiness book of world records to try to recieve the most paper airplanes. Please forward this on to everyone that you know . All you have to do is make a paper airplane and write the state or the country you are from on the wing of your plane and send it to.. My wife and I sent our middle son to Dana College this fall. He went on academic and athletic scholarships. He runs cross country and is majoring in chemistry. Highschool GPA was 3.8+ and he has had a strong history of community service, no trouble ever etc... (My bragging list is long). Two weeks ago he got his first major paper back from his composition prof with a big zero on the front. When he asked she said that he had plagiarized & he found that his roommate also received a zero. He didn't understand how since they'd only discussed topics but no specifics for this paper. His roommate denied copying the paper. Now this is serious because it could jeopardize his scholarships, whether he could run for the cross country team and even risks expulsion from the class or even school itself. When he had a meeting with the prof she laughed at his questions insisting that he very well knew what was going on because the two papers were word for word identical. His roommate again denied he had copied the paper. He said he couldn't show my son his paper because he'd deleted it from his own computor knowing that he'd get the finished one back from the prof. Only later when my son found the plagiarized paper on roommates computor did roommate confess that he had taken my son's paper from his desk and copied it. Roommate said he would tell the prof he'd plagiarized which he did. The prof offered them a chance to do the papers over again and she would give each of them half credit. This was unfair enough but here is where it get really weird. Prof withdrew her offer when she was reminded college protocol stated that she had to take it to the Dean and then to an academic counsel made up of other profs. Great! With a confession from the roommate, my son should be off the hook, get the credit he deserved for the paper and all is well with the world. But no! The academic counsel ruling that both boys will receive zeroes. The roommate because he plagiarized and my son because he did not adequately protect his work allowing his roommate the opportunity to plagiarize. With this "blame the victom" logic, a casualty of sexual assault would be told she should have kept her legs together and then sent to prison along with the rapist. We are trying not to be "helicopter parents" or hovering overhead but instead just being supportive. It is hard. I am hoping he will appeal but know that he might risk even more severe consequences if he does. It is a small thing in the big scope of the world. He is smart and healthy and will certainly make it one way or the other. Darn kid. I guess its time he finds out about life outside mom & dad's house. Sometimes great and sometimes rough. Iowa Guy Tim Lantz PS He has applied for a new roommate.
