Finally hit 3k mileage on that 11 FJR I now own. On a ride this past Saturday, had a couple 2d genners try to hang with me both through the twisties (embarrassing for them) and to gain up distance they lost through the twisties in the straight aways) all while heading up and back down FM4 in North Texas. I think one of em ran outta gas cause I have no idea where they went. Ha Ha. What a fun, fast scooter to ride. I really must be careful. Want to ride it down to the Leakey ride but will have to wait to see if I can take vacation off from the nut house.

So as some of you may know I am exiled to the state of Tennessee, Chattanooga to be exact, while my daughter attends college near by. Pretty damn good gig actually! Yesterday my riding buddy and I left Chattanooga heading in the general direction of the Grand Ole Opry Hotel/Convention center in Nashville with only one goal in mind, TO GET LOST! Well we managed to get lost while trying to get lost! What a ride, what a day! Again what was suppose to be about a two hour ride or so turned into an all day excursion with us, again, returning after dark. For those of you that don't know Tennessee has mountains, Tennessee, has curves, Tennessee has scenery! I find myself falling in Love with this state. The icing on the cake is that the people are mostly down to earth and friendly to, even to this transplanted Aggie! Destin, FL will always be my favorite place in the world but if it wasn't for the fact that funny white stuff falls outta the sky during the winter and that the beach is over 400 miles away it would become my permanent home. I might have to Summer here 3 months outta the year and Destin the other 3 months with 6 months of traveling, the long way, back and forth. Hmnn might have to find a rich girlfriend!!

On our 2 week trip started running kinda crappy , rough and unresponsive: OUTTA LOVE. Get home, $100 morgan carbtune:back in LOVE. 25,000 miles seat getting a little weak, sore butt: OUTTA LOVE Rick butler works on seat : back in LOVE road king mufflers start to sound like crap: OUTTA LOVE lastweek put stocks back on, made and installed leveling links: back in LOVE in a big way. this dang bike will let you down sometimes but a couple tweeks and she gets back in your graces and she's the greatest. My wife had to take a neighbor to see her Dr. today and she left me home alone with the credit card. MISTAKE !! I've been contemplating for several weeks and today I finally did it while she was gone. I bought the Garmin 1490T with the life time update card and a second lifetime card for my Zumo 550 on the bike. Lotta money - (about $500 ) but it's worth it just for the blue tooth. Last week I had to make a near 2000 mile trip alone and the phone never stopped. It always makes me nervous to answer the phone while driving but it's even worse when you have to call someone that's NOT in your phone book. Maybe I'm just getting too old for that OR maybe I'm finally getting a LITTLE smarter Now if I can stay outta site for a while - - - -

While changing out the tires on the bike, noticed the rear pads are shot. They were EBC's? Only had 5200 miles on them. Last set I used were Streetexcel and got 10k outta them? Is this typical? I do belives in throttle control with rear braking, but half the mileage?
