Okay, I've been lurking for a while but I finally had to join today. I bought my 2004 Midnight Venture 3 weeks ago with 63,000 miles in near showroom condition. I absolutely love it and couldn't ask for more. Anyway so onto my issue. I'm going on a ride with my club later today and was hoping to show the ole girl off. I was adding some air to the tires with my compressor plugged into the dc/cigarette outlet and all was well. Until I fired the bike up while the compressor was running. The compressor stopped immediately and now I have no power to the DC outlet, and worse my head light and passing lamps are out. I'm guessing I blew a fuse but I'm really not sure. Any help would be great. Looks like I'm going to have to take my old bike after all because we're going to the coast and will be riding back at night. Also, I'm not sure if this is the correct place for a post like this...

Anyone out there use the 12V plug at the bottom of the Fairing, as a cigarette lighter? If you did , did you change the amperage of the fuse for that outlet?

I found a XMsnap radio at Best Buy on the day after Christmas for $19.99 and decided to see if it would work in the DC outlet in the fairing. Since I had already split the audio input, there was a 3.5mm plug to use for the audio output of the XM radio. In short, this radio works great. All I had to do was locate the included antenna, plug it and the audio cable into the XMsnap and plug the unit into the DC outlet. Quick & easy and it sounds great. See pictures.

Greetings all. On my last big trip in April this year I had cause (need) to replace my mobile phone. Ended up with a Nokia N8-00, and boy is it a beauty. By playing around with it I have discovered a number of remarkable features, the least of which is that it has a standard 3mm audio jack outlet. To cut to the chase - if I run the phone through the auxiliary of the RSV and programme my phone, I can use it as a hands-free phone whilst riding (or stationary). It has 16GB of memory and I have loaded 1,520 mp3 music files onto it and I play that also through the audio out. I keep the phone charged using a standard Nokia 12V charger. I also have an internet radio application on the phone through which I can listen to thousands of radio stations from around the world - all whilst riding. If a phone call, text message or email come in the radio volume dies out for about ten seconds so the relevant alert tone can be heard. If it's a phone call I have auto answer and the music is auto-muted. The phone is mounted to the bars of the bike with a secure holder and I have a three-way 12V + USB outlet mounted to the top of my front brake master cylinder. Through that outlet I also run my GPS and the USB is handy for charging my 8GB MP4 player that I also use for music. Surely no need for a CD player or tape deck.

I went to price some replacement parts for the upper right cowling on my 89 Venture Royale, YIKES! I am looking for 2 parts; 1 is the console panel that goes around the leveler, cb, speaker and air outlet part # 26h-2837m-01-00. The 2nd is the acutual grill cover that goes over the air outlet, part #26h-2837w-00-00. If anyone can help with either steering me in the right direction for finding these at a more reasonable price or has an alternative for what to do with the grill missing on the air outlet, I would be grateful. I am also missing a vent, others are broken or missing. The cost to replace what needs to be replaced is close to $600 from the Yamaha dealer. I hope this is the right place to post this and again thanks so much for your help and suggestions! Ed

OK, I have been reviewing a lot of info regarding repacking mufflers, the following thread being one of many. Nothing that I've come across defines which is Front and which is Back. In my mind, the front is the inlet end and the back is the outlet (or the tail end of the muffler where the exhaust cometh outeth...) Am I right or wrong? :scratchchin: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42168&highlight=repack

I have a used, from ebay oem power outlet coming. My plans are to find a nice, clean spot and wire it directly (FUSED) to battery for 2 purposes. I will use it for the obvious such as cell charger or whatever, but my second thought is to use it for my maintainer plug. Dual purpose outlet. Thoughts?? Suggestions?? I have a spot figured out already, and have the maintainer.

I think my wife and I are going to take off for Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge Friday and ride around the area on Saturday. Of course her idea of riding around the area means to the nearest outlet mall. But I'm sure we'll make the trip over the mountain. If anyone is going to be in the area and wants to get together send me a message. Dennis

Hey guys- This may have been done. Did a search and didn't see it... so here goes: I wanted an extra 12v outlet on the right of the fairing, because sometimes I want to charge my phone as well as have the GPS (who has a grumpy battery) running.(new GPS has a special cord, so I can't use my USB double charger anymore.) I also removed the casette deck, and made a little storage area. I had a wire coming out of there, and then out from under the fairing... but when I didn't have something plugged in, I didn't like the cable hanging out. So I tried adding a new, easy to change aux plug in case this one fails over time. Started with a black rubber coupling from radioshack, but it didn't work. Use the gold one you see in the pics. it's worth the extra 3 bucks. This was just an experiment, but seems to have worked perfectly and gave me just what I wanted. First, drilled a hole in my beautiful fairing. I drilled too small, and slowly filed the hole more until it had a nice snug fit. However, the final solution would probably work with a hole slightly larger because I came up with a good solution for holding the plug in and waterproofing the opening. I drilled right behind the speaker, so that the plug is facing down when installed. This should eliminate almost all chances of water getting in there: http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg249/screamstone/CA2008/bike%20mods/th_IMG_7390.jpg Then, I put an e-clip around the coupler with a neoprene washer, and put it in the hole from the bottom. If you look close in this pic, you can see both parts. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg249/screamstone/CA2008/bike%20mods/th_IMG_7403.jpg Next, in the inside, I used another washer, and then a bushing to help me get the e-clip on nice and tight. I was using the grooves in the knurled texture of the coupling as a groove for the clips. I think these were 1/2 inch e-clips... but I brought the coupler in and just figured it out in the hardware store. They have to fit tight. The bushing helped make it easier to put the inside e-clip on with pliers because I had space between the fairing wall and the clip's groove. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg249/screamstone/CA2008/bike%20mods/th_IMG_7399.jpg Next, I just used a small patch cord to plug in to the aux input of the bike to the coupler. DONE!!!! http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg249/screamstone/CA2008/bike%20mods/th_IMG_7404.jpg Here's how it looks from the bottom of the bike. I really like it because you can't see it unless you kind of squat down and look up. Very inconspicuous. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg249/screamstone/CA2008/bike%20mods/th_IMG_7400.jpg Since I was there, I looked at this 12v outlet I got from a marine supply warehouse in town. (So I'm assuming it's "weather friendly"). I wanted to add it to the lower right fairing and just tap in to the other 12v outlet. I used a 1" Flat wood bit (the flat kind with a point, if you know what I mean) to drill a hole- but that's slightly too large since I didn't have any washers. Not a problem- it still fits, but I want to add washers to "clean up" the look and keep water from seeping in around the edges. Didn't take many pics at this point, because I just kind of did it on a whim. Here's the outlet installed on the inside: http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg249/screamstone/CA2008/bike%20mods/th_IMG_7406.jpg And here's the front side, with the plug for aux audio supplying all the necessary "Music to mod your bike to" tunes: http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg249/screamstone/CA2008/bike%20mods/th_IMG_7409.jpg I'm really happy with how it turned out. I didn't have a perfect size bit for the lighter outlet, but it's close enough, I can't see light around the lighter with the front of the fairing off. But I plan on installing a washer on both sides (those neoprene big washers) to seal it up and reduce jiggle. It looks great as it is, though!!! Here's a more distant shot so you can see better where the mounts fall in the fairing. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg249/screamstone/CA2008/bike%20mods/th_IMG_7410.jpg Oh- and here she is with an f4 windshield with vent installed: http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg249/screamstone/CA2008/bike%20mods/th_IMG_7418.jpg This was my first pictoral little tutorial... hope I did it right!! I don't know how to lightbox the images... sorry about the new windows opening!

I'm about to install my new passing lamps on my 06 R.S. Venture. Is it ok to pick up the power for the lamps off the power wire to the power outlet (cig lighter) the only thing I use the power outlet for is the GPS. The power outlet will already be fused and I'm wondering if I could eliminate the in line fuse to the lamps... then it would be much easier to get at if the fuse blows.... Terry

I've read here that the hole behind the driver seat is the perfect size for a cigarette type power outlet, however, in looking at the powerlet brand, it needs a 1.125" hole & I measured the "perfect size" as .875". What brand will fit this hole without modification? Well, 1 more question: I'm not very good with modifying electrical stuff, so, how exactly do you modify the white plug near the battery that I've read about to work with a power outlet? And is it already fused? Thanks.

I need some help! my power outlet has no power i do not know which fuse supplies the power , also need a wiring diagram of this outlet

I am confused about all the news of GM and Chrysler closing dealerships! I don't pretend to know anything about the workings of auto dealerships, but how does closing them make the auto makers more profitable? Basic economics tells me that having an outlet for your product is necessary. Seems like VOODOO economics to me.

Where is the best location for a DC power outlet on the 1st Gen? Does the scoot generate enough power to run shch equipment as an air pump or other simple electrical devices? Would a power converter work on it to produce 110V?

Anybody know off hand if the Venture is GPS ready? I have a TomTom as I had it from my old ride and I want to set it up on the new one so what I mean is, is there an outlet to jack in my adaptor? Or do I have to install one myself? Thanks......... Bluez (Just trying to plan ahead!)

Hey, all: I was wondering if anyone could help? I have a 2006 Venture and was wondering if I could plug only a CB mike into the 5-pin communicator outlet? I've seen Harleys and Hondas be able to do this but theirs is a 7 (or 8?) pin outlet? Also, if it can be done... any idea where to get one? I'm in Barrie, Ontario area. I tried "The Source" but no luck. My wife and I don't use the communicator outlets because I don't have them and if I did, I would have to buy new helmets as well. That expense isn't realistic right now. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Skunk

My son wants to install a cig. lighter type electrical outlet on his Nomad to power his ipod or cellphone. He wants to wire it directly from the battery, and since it's a 12 volt outlet, he thinks he doesn't need to install an inline fuse. I think he should install a 10 amp inline fuse. Who's correct? I know there's many of you electrical geniuses out there and any info. would be much appreciated. Thanks.
