Greetings fellow Ventureriders ! Saw this bike for sale on eBay and gotta say it is one purdy looking bike http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/One-original-owner-ton-accsesories-alarm-navigation-radio-and-much-more-/290694427948?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item43aebcf52c ! Noticed these two "Safety Chrome" accessories that I have never seen before. The outer chrome rings on the wheels/rims and the chrome cover where the original horn should be. You guys know if this is custom made or if this is available somewhere ? Want to be safe and need all the chrome I can get

I split the fairing yesterday for the first time to install Mic Mutes. When I went to remove the windshield I found three of the six tabs on the outer fairing were broken. Does anyone have a fix for that?

Could someone measure there trunk on the 2nd gen and tell me the measurments of it. Need to know the width side to side and how deep it is along with the length. ONLY NEED OUTER SIZE. Thanks Joe. Star4772

Just curious how many miles you guyz are getting on a set of rear brake pads. I just pulled mine @ 27,660 kilometes (17,187 miles). These are the OEM "original" pads (first time change). I swapped them side-to-side about 8,000 km ago and now the outer is almost to the metal and the inner ain't got much more than that. I do use my front brake a fair amount and they still have lots of wear left.

Can some one supply the MD address so I can get a close-up of the gathering. I have access to a US military rental satilite with capabilities to read license plates from outer space. If I can't be there in person I will be spying on them from my control room. :ignore: Pictures update every 15 seconds so I should be able to catch a lot of them in the act. I am hoping to catch the first pictures of the pond monster ever from outer space. Oh ya those pesky little pygmies too. If Margaret reads this be by the pond at 1:00pm Saturday, on the diving board and wave so I know which one you are. :yikes:

Well looks like the wife and I are gonna ride down to Durham N.C. spend a couple days with our daughter and look for work. Things just dont seem like there gonna pick up here anytime soon for us road workers. Ive always wanted to ride thru the Outer Banks, I read a article once about it in a biker mag and it just sounds awesome. So were gonna try and do that while downthere. Been putting some on-line apps in around the Durham/Raliegh area and thats where were hoping to relocate too. I am also a lia. builder so been looking in those areas too. Not sure exactly what are exact plans are as we like to wing it usually. But we got 12 or so days to ride and explore and thats what we gonna do. So far the plan is- leave Mich on May 28 -hang with Sarah (daughter) 30 and 31-- (only days she has off work), then we got 9 days before we need to be back home. Pam needs to be back at work June 10.

Well added another light to the back of the trailer, made a toolbox, & cooler holder for the front. And got everything all shiny clean. Were almost packed and we're heading out in the morning. Headed to North carolina for a week and half. Visiting daughter and camp a few days on the outer banks. Planning on swinging thru the dragon on the way back. & Happy Memorial day everyone! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v405/Hazenson/2010/th_100_3751.jpg?t=1274997671 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v405/Hazenson/2010/th_100_3754.jpg?t=1274997671

Pinion bearings failed, can't get the outer race out of the rear drive unit.the outer race is still in the housing. It would appear that this remaining race has been staked by what ever has marred the housing around the periphery of that bore which the outer race mates to. It is my assumption that the needle bearing into a (blind hole), (terminology?) would be of a slip fit. I may just be beating a dead horse trying to fix it, but I can't ride, what else can I do while I watch for one on ebay! Any one got a used pumpkin for a second Gen they want to part with?

I can not seem to find a socket to fit. First socket was not deep enough, then bought a new socket, and it was too thick. Now I am scratching my head. The socket fits on the plug, but cant reach the plug. The outer wall of the socket is stopping it from reaching the plug. Any help?

I did my rear brake pads today, again it got down to just about metal on metal wear while out on the last road trip.. The inside pad wears out much sooner than the outer pad and seems to wear even more at the back of the pad.. this is where the metal on metal wear was just about ready to start.. I looked at the disc carefully and am not sure if mine is pooched or if this is the way it is supposed to be where as the outer most edge of the disk is thicker than the surface where the pads contact.. In other words, if I were to tighten down a C-Clamp half down the contact surface of the disc, I would not be able to slide if up and off as there is a 'shoulder' at the outer most edge.. Is it possible that previous pads might have ground down into the disc thus making it 'unserviceable'? Are new discs expensive? Are there better alternatives? Can the existing ones be dressed or cleaned up? On the same note, if your discs are 'glazed' from the pads, how do you un-glaze them? Cheers!

I got a new rear tire for my 87 xvz1300. before putting it back together I realized the splines on the wheel were shot and the splines on the outward plate aren't much better. I figured no problemo I've got one on the 84 xvz1200 parts bike that I'll just swap out. Guess what, the wheel spline gear would work but the differentials are differant. The outer spline plates have differant bolt patterns. So, now I'm in need of either an entire final gear drive differential or just the outer plate if anyone has one they've dissected already. (86 and Up 1st gen XVZ1300). If any one has got one laying around they don't need and don't mind giving a fellow member a hand send me a PM. let me know what you want for it.

Bike is in storage. I want to take all the plastic off so I can spend time in my basement fixing all cracks and broken tabs to repaint it in the spring. IS there any guides to disassembly of the front faring outer shell or anything I should pay attention to or watch out for when I do it?
