I will be retiring Nov 30, My wife and I are relocating as snow birds. We will be living DEC through June in Naples FL. I have checked the Star Touring web site and there are not a lot of chapters in Fl to say nothing of the Naples area. We would like to find some other Riders in that area who can enlighten us to places in the area to ride, things to see and just chat about bikes in general. Tried to see if I could somehow sort the members list here into somekind of geographic order without success so I am putting this out in public. Do you ride in the SW florida area, or know others who do and who might like to get together once in a while and ride? Al

I'm in need of some volunteers. Don't tell Marca, but she has a birthday coming up, Nov 15, and I need 60 volunteers to help out celebrating this milestone. Yes I said 60 volunteers. So if you think you could help out, I have a chef who will cook some food and a place to sit. What the volunteers need to do is to eat what's been cooked and served on a platter. Can't tell you why I need 60, but there will be lots of food, so that may be one reason. The date is Nov 15 2011 The time is 7pm,,,,, do not be late The place: Scot's on Scott,, 74 Scott Ave, Paris Ont Marca should arrive about 7:05, and she is NOT supposed to hear about this from anybody. I regularly read the Roadbike rag on the news stands. I was going thru the Nov '10 issue and found an article on group riding on page 73. Looked at the picture on the first page (only way to truly read any rag or book) and saw two RSV's in the foreground of the pic. Are these anyone here??? If so you have made national publication. That was the Nov '10 issue of Roadbike on page 73.

Just when I thought things were going my way after the accident in Nov, things went south again. I was able to find some good used parts at a good price and was about ready to start the winter tear down to do my service and replace the plastic so it will be ready for spring. But to my amazement it was not to be. It started with a "headache from Hell" that lasted for 3 weeks. I went to the doctor and he found a whopping sinus infection and both ears infected. I though OK, that would explain my balance being off a bit. I was called out the next day to cover on a boat that had had a man quit unexpectedly. Once I got on I found I was having trouble staying awake and concentrating. Then I started having trouble getting my left foot to raise up high enough to walk up a flight of stairs. As my balance was getting worse I requested that I be relieved so I could seek medical attention. My wife picked me up at the airport the next day and took me to the ER at home. I was sent in for a CT scan of the brain, yes there IS one, and they found a VERY large blood clot compressing my brain. It seemed like within the hour I was shoved into a helicopter and air flighted to Nashville Tn. A surgeon was standing by and at 0140 Friday morning I was taken into surgery. He removed a chunk of my skull, took out 150 cc, about 6 ounces, of blood, then super glued the skull back together and went on his way. I woke up around 0400 Friday morning minus a headache and really feeling great. I had regained the strength in my left side and looked like I will have a full recovery. Of course I do have a scar that makes me look like Frankenstien but I will some how milk that for all of the sympathy I can get. I realize I could have told this story in about half the words, but then where would have been the drama of all of the pain and suffering. Hey,,if you're gonna get a flip-top skull, you might as well brag about it. Squidley, I'm glad you and Lona are doing OK. I did find time to say a prayer for you.

There is a 1st Gen for sale at a car dealership on the southside of Sebring, FL. It looks like it is gold in color. If anybody is interested in it. I'll be down that way on the 27th of Nov. and I will check it out. Ken:stirthepot:

http://www.nationalpeanutfestival.com/ wanted to let everybody know of this event, it's a great time for everybody. sorry i'm posting it a little late, but i know we have a lot of members from around this area. the souther cruiser have been attending it for several yrs, having a poker run and riding in the parade. but the festival is open to everybody that want to attend. we are hoping to attend it this yr on maybe fri and defiantley on sat, Nov 10 for it's MY BIRTHDAY and i'm the Guest of Honor and Grand Marshall of the parade and riding a decked out New 2008 Venture(GIVEN TO ME FREE BY YAMAHA DEALER) in the parade and everybody will have to give me presents( none less than a $100 please) LOL!!!!! NOOTTT JUST KIDDING Y'ALL. maybe we can meet up there and eat together. we'll keep a eye on this post to keep up with the replies.
