OK folks, who out there has installed a 3000 on an RSV and what do you think of it. Any noticeable difference? How does it affect power and mpg? And key question, is it worth the money?

Everyone, first I'm new to the forum! I just bought a 96 Royal Star a few months back. I have loved the bike, but have one problem that has come up. The needle in the carbs were sticking and I was losing fuel so I gave them a good seafoam bath (thanks for everyone that posted this tip in previous posts). That stopped the leak, but now the engine seems to be lugging, it is especially noticeable in 4th and 5th gears, is there anything that I should try. I did replace the spark plugs about three days before the carbs decided to gum up. Thanks for all of the help!

My 06 Venture has K7N Air filters and RoadKing Screaming Eagle slipons which sounds great, add a noticeable oomph of power boost (albeit small but noticeable over stock).. When I inquired about doing this, I had been told that "re-jetting" was NOT required.. I now have a new set of slip ons someone sent me as a return of favour (free!) and I'd love to try them on.. they fit a Roadking.. These are turn downs with beautiful chrome. When I look down either end, I can see light glowing in.. and the burner louvres (dunno what to call them..) I wonder how LOUD these will be.. I'm willing to give them a try, because as they say: Nothing Venture'd Nothing Gained.. =) But something got me a puzzlin though.. My buddy wants my Screamin Eagles to try on his bike but says that everyone he's talked to and everywhere he's read (other than here) claim and state that no matter what anyone else says, he needs to re-jet after installing any after market slipons.. My Venture runs GREAT as is, no rejetting or anything.. I remember this being more of an issue with VTwins like my VStar etc.. but huh? So what's the story here? With these new pipes I have, which seem more open than previous slipons, is re-jetting in my future? What say the learned guru-riders of the forum? Cheers, thanks in advance. -
I installed the Buddy Rich Bluetooth cable and began hearing an engine tick at idle. Not particularly noticeable on speakers but very annoying in headset . Just to check, removed cable, started engine ticking is gone. Replaced cable, ticking is back. Figured shielding is at fault, undid tape to foil shilding, checked that it connects to wire shield, added foil retaped - still ticking. At speed not noticeable because of general background noise but at idle it's like Chinese water torture - tick, tick, tick. Any solutions or suggestions out there? :puzzled:I can't be lucky enough to be the "only one". Help please before I loose whatever little sanity remains!!

I have an 85 VR with a CB from an 86. All seemed to work well, but I now have a feedback issue when I key the mic with my PTT button. This feedback is noticeable in channels 25 to 40 but doesn't seem to be there in the lower channels. On Ch 20 it is barely noticeable and not a real issue but as I good up in channels the worst it gets. looking for ideas. Carl

Whine/Chirping - 2nd Gen vs 1st Gen

I've got an 89 VR. Looking to buy 06 RSV from dealer 2000 miles away. Had a friend go check it out for me...he's used to riding a Honda Shadow...never ridden a Venture. He said it was great except he noticed when in 4th gear at about 45 mph he was hearing what he called a gear whine...kept going until he shifted. Said it happened at in 3rd also. Said it wasn't unbearable but was noticeable. The bike has had the clutch basket replaced (which the original owner told me helped a LOT). I think the 1st gen & 2nd gen engines are basically the same engine. I've read all the threads here about the whine & chirp and now I'm leary of plunking down the money if it's something that's overtly noticeable. I'm wondering if I would notice that whine as much myself, since I've ridden my VR for 17 years & am used to that engine (never noticed anything myself). Any ideas? Thanks for the help...JR -
Lowered the front end this weekend... Went for a ride today:big-grin-emoticon:it was incredible! The wife is tiny as it is but now she is barely noticeable, good thing we talk or I would have to check that she is still there. And the bike itself has lost a good hundred pounds...Stops and slow turns are a pleasure. I understand the geometry change, shorter wheelbase, sharper rake, lower cg ..... all that's fine but I realy did not expect such a noticeable difference. Why ithe world doesn't Yamaha assemble them this way in the first place:confused24:. I bet they would sell a lot more of them. Those of you who have been considering - what are you waiting for???? Those who haven't...you should.
