The purpose of this ride was to test the 1stgen and the 2ndgen towing my bunkhouse camper. Here are the results. A.Standing start, bike 1 very noticable a trailer was behind me Standing start,bike2 less noticable a trailer was behind me B.Acceleration.bike 1sufficient power up the mountains. bike 2.about same as bike 1. C.Braking..bike 1,few scary moments going downhill bike 2 much more stable downhill D.Left turn at intersection.bike 1.Felt like trailer was trying to push the bike straight ahead. bike 2.felt like the bike was actually pulling the trailer through the turn. In conclusion Bike 1 will never tow the bunkhouse trailer again. Bike 1.1986 Venture Royale Bike 2.1999 RSV with sidecar. The above is "MY" opinions and "MY" observations.OH,by the way,the 1stgen got 31 MPG and the 2ndgen got 30MPG.

With reference to following thread(s) ... [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=43130]Update on Clutch "I" basket - VentureRider.Org[/ame] I have now received my "I" basket, installed it, and tested it. In fact, we had a fantastic sunny day here on the "wet"coast, albeit just a tad chilly (6 celcius) so I got a day permit and put on around 200km. I am so happy to report that the WHINE is all but GONE! ... The "I" basket swap has eliminated appx 70% and now is only slightly noticable. YIPPPEEEE! oh yeah... as promised... here are the pics of the MONSTER TOOL I made to hold the basket in order to undo/tighten the nut. Sorry, I ain't sellin it nor am I givin it away... it's worth waaayyyyy to much!

I found a set of the Harley RK mufflers in a box in my garage yesterday. They're a set I bought in 2007 for my Venture (which I no longer have). They have the rear baffle removed and sound good on a Venture - they're medium-loud (probably about a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being loudest). The pipes are in good shape, but do have a few minor scratches that are not really noticable unless you get down and look at them. There are a couple of scruff marks on the underneath side, but these don't show when mounted on the bike. Anyways, I'll let them go for $45 including shipping. Send me an email at pdr1254@hotmail.com if you are interested. Thanks! Bob

Due in large measure to the assistance and information from this board, I was able to substaintialy reduce the problem around the "now famous" gear whine or chirp that is very noticable in the 2nd gen Royal Star Venture. My dealer installed the "I Basket" under warranty. Having all the notes and information supplied by the many members who have experienced this issued helped greatly. I am happy to say that the problem is probably 75% fixed. There is still some noticable chirping but it has moved out of the touring speeds, and the tone of the chirp is no where near as annoying as it was previously. I can live with the chirping sound now. What I cant understand is why Yamaha does not just simply FIX the problem to begin with rather than making owners go through and Un-announced warranty procedure. MickO:confused24:

Greetings, I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I have a 86 Royale. I have been noticing lately when i goose the throttle their is a rattleing noise seems to be coming from underneath, or when I am going through the gears I hear it also. Checked bolts, fluids all ok. It is more noticable on the left side. Other then that it runs fine. Am thinking of going to Las Cruces in a couple of weeks . I was wondering if it is something I should be concerned with or if it could wait till I returned. Thank you . bossman:confused24:
