I ride with a few other Venture riders and recently we noticed all of our speedometer/oddometers are incorrect. When comparing the speed noted on our speedometers to our GPS units we noted our speedometers. all read out about 8% higher speeds than we were actually riding. we have also confirmed this using mile markers oddometers indicating 10 while mile markers had just passed the 9 mile mark. We have compared with automobile speedometers as well as other Yamaha bikes. Now while this allows a little buffer room, well it did untill we started riding a bit faster to make up the difference, it also racks up phantom miles that erode our resale values. Tire warrentes run out before their time, we change oil more often(not a bad thing) 0 to 50 is really 0 to 46 so we think we are faster than we think we are, but not actually half fast Have any other 2nd gen riders noted this? is it possible to recalibrate the speedometers? I am receiving as many as five e-mails for working at home in one day and all are the same except the http// addresses are different. All these sound like the noted sender is making a personal recommendation. I contacted the person that is noted and they are saying they did not send it and they are also getting the same thing. I clicked on one of the http// addresses and read the offer to try to stop this and there does not appear to be any way. I am also concerned that everyone in my address book is or will be getting the same crap. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can stop this? RandyA

At one time there was a print of all the dimensions for the solid motor mounts noted on here. I made a copy of it, but I not only can I not find the copy I made, but I also can not find the post that had the print noted. Does anyone have a copy of the print that has the dimensions noted? Thanks, RandyA

Hot day and volt meter reading
Guest posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yesterday I traveled from a ride in and the day was hot hot hot, and to make it even worse got caught in horrific traffic back jam due to accidents or what ever. I noted my bike was getting on the hot side of things so cut engine off whenever I could. Also noted the volt meter stayed at just above 12 volts at higher rpm rather than at 14 as usual. This morning it pops right back up to 14. Any reason or explanation for this? I already cleaned the wire connectors from stator and put dialectric grease on it some time ago. -
A quick notice here to let anyone wanting a horn bracket. I'm temporarly out of them but will be getting more made up after the International Rally. I've noted in my ad here that they're out of stock but will update it once I have more available. I'll update this post as well. Larry

I stopped by the police station today at lunch and picked up a copy of the report. It does have her as hitting the bike and she was noted as improper backing. She was also charged with driving on a suspended license, go figure. This is all well and good but on my vehicle it was noted that I was parked illegally. This is a city street in front of where I work with no restrictions in that area. The only thing I can think that might be an issue at this point was I was parked at an angle to the curb, not perpendicular, but at about a 30 degree angle. I mainly do this because this street, as most, is sloped downward and I am more confortable with the stance of the bike on the side stand. Just got a call back from the Police Officer and I told him I was confused and what was I doing to be parked illegally? He said you were not parked illegally. I said the report says that. He then goes into this tirade about using these little PDA's to do reports on. He then stated that he would get it corrected and then I could pick up another copy. WHEW!!! So, I am about back to square one on dealing with an insurance company and should be without having to deal with the company and the video. What a roller coaster ride so far. BTW, as I noted earlier, this guy rides a Goldwing. He also noted on the report that the damage was under $400. Yeah. RandyA
