Charlene and I just arrived home from a great visit to St. Jude. We didnt have a really big turnout, I think the weather hurt our attendance. We had as many NARR members as we did Ventureriders. We had 6 bikes and 4 vehicles. Our donation was a total of $4,220.00. Again each group had almost equal donations. Many thanks to the members of the North Alabama Road Riders for joining with us in our fundraising for the kids at St. Jude. As an added note we were shown a new video produced and filmed at St. Jude, its very moving and really shows the family spirit at St. Jude. K Bran has it posted in the watering hole. http://www.venturerider.org/modules/Jig/index.php

Just received an email from a married buddy - subject line was "my wife left me" _________ The wife left a note on the fridge......... "It's not working!! I can't take it anymore; I've gone to stay at my Moms!" I opened the fridge, the light came on and the beer was still cold......... What the hell is she talking about?!!

Here are the engine cases painted black. I am leaving the rest of the engine original. The cases will show more that the engine anyway so no need it spending more time painting. I am not quite finished with the chrome covers, need to fill in the painted areas and polish some more. Note one says 1300, the cover from my 83 had the chrome peeling so this one was much better. After burning through the pirelli that came with my 2nd RSTD Im finally back on the CT. This time was the first time I had taken the tire off of the bike. It was surprisingly simple to do. Took it to my normal guy and it popped in at 50 psi. Note: tire was in the trunk for about an hour before i dropped it off. Heat and a clean rim are key. So glad to be back pn the DS.

She's probably going to kill me for this. This morning I took her to Rochester General for a check up on her heart. They found 2 stent had collapsed. The Dr. did her Roto Rooter Thing and replaced them with 2 new supercharged stents, so she will be better then new. She is Still in the Hospital and she has her note pad with her, So please send her a little cheer. She really doesn't like this sort of thing, So lay it on good and thick.

So I was at the dealer looking for a part for a friends carb and I kept looking at the sport bike alley. A salesman came up to me and after I told him how fun it would be to have a second toy and Ive always wanted to do a burnout and a wheelie, he brought me the keys and said go have some fun but be careful. I had 5 hours with this thing and it was amazing. Teh truth is I only rode for short 20 minute bursts . I stopped homoe had Sausage and peppers. then rode some more. Its amazing how light that bike is and although the grunt wasnt there , I did find myself hitting 90 on residential streets. And the front brake is so touchy. I remember thinking how I was gonna lock up the front. NOTE TO SELF> " no sport bike for me" END NOTE. I couldnt get the smile off my face but unfortunatly i had to leave teh bike there with a dissapointed salesman.

An illustrated bailout plan that just might work... It is a slow day in the damp little town of Oberlin, Ohio. The rain is beating down and the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt and everybody lives on credit. On this particular day a rich Venture rider from Texas rides into town, stops at the local hotel and lays a $100 note on the desk, telling the hotel owner he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to spend the night. The owner gives him some keys and, as soon as the visitor has walked upstairs, the hotelier grabs the note and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher. The butcher takes the note and runs down the street to repay his debt to the pig farmer. The pig farmer takes the note and heads off to pay his bill at the supplier of feed and fuel. The guy at the Farmers' Co-op takes the note and runs to pay his drinks bill at the pub. The pub owner slips the money along to the local prostitute drinking at the bar, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer him "services" on credit. The hooker then rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill to the hotel owner with the same note. The hotel proprietor then places the note back on the counter so the rich traveller will not suspect anything. At that moment the traveller comes down the stairs, picks up the note, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, pockets the money and leaves town. No one produced anything. No one earned anything. However, the whole town is now out of debt and looking forward to the next Venture rider maintenance day with a lot more optimism. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how a bailout package works...

I am going to put my tank back together after painting and then put on my 04 RSV. I went to put the front grommets back into the grommet hole & realized that one side is fatter. after looking at the service, user and parts manual, the pics aren't clear which side the larger end goes. Can someone tell me how to orient the larger grommet end - inside or outside of the grommet hole. I made a mental note of the orientation when removing them, but i have lost it. the mental note that is.

The old coot has disappeared again, I think. I haven't seen him around here for quite some time. Has anyone gotten a ransom note from some pygmies? Edit....I see he was lurking here this morning, but hasn't posted in over two weeks.

Due to several request to make crash bar braces I've built a limited number of them. Currently there's 6 of them listed in the classifieds but if there's enough demand I'll build more. I built these a bit different than the ones I did in a post 3 years ago. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6069&highlight=crash+supports Simplier and stronger. Here's a link to my ad -- http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=2692 Please note that you'll also have to purchase a set of clamps for the crash bars. There are two types to choose from. These from are the best -- http://www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go/Home.ProductDetail/catID/18/scID/121/IMID/531 #1002 or from Dennis Kirk -- http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=494431&store=&catId=&productId=p494431&leafCatId=&mmyId or a 3piece type -- http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=406929&store=&catId=&productId=p406928&leafCatId=&mmyId= or http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=406933&store=&catId=&productId=p406932&leafCatId=&mmyId= I have found both types being sold at e-bay with decent prices in the past as well. Larry Note: The first two pics show the braces and clamps on my bike. The ones I have listed are a bit different at the clamp end but will still do the same job.

I received my New Set of Throttle cables for my 89 the other day, and they are Installed, Working Great. ---- Of Note: At the Carb, end, the New ones Have Vinal Inserts, I guess Yamaha took note of the Fraying at the #1 Carb hook up point. ---- Wether this will stop the Fraying problem, I don't know, but its worth takeing note of if you need to replace your throttle cables.

Thank You to the Sleeperhawks, Riderduke, Mini, the Painters, The Bugfish's, and Scarylarry. We appreciate you coming to Clares graduation party, and truly enjoyed all of your company. Your support in her graduation meant very much to the both of us, and we cannot wait to spend time with all of you again. On a side note, I seem to have a collection of Mechanics pie plates, I will have to hold them hostage until the next pie arrives.

OK...I am so sorry that it took me so long to get around to this but for those who wanted a bit of detail on how I made the center stands for the RSV, I have added some measurements and pictures to the original thread in the tech library. You can see it here. Please note that I am no longer offering these stands. This information is provided for those of you who wish to make your own. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1427

I hate to see ads like this but I guess it will happen to all of us at some point. This fellow was soooo happy when he found this bike and had great plans for it... and him. So anyone looking for an '86 that has been well ridden and well cared for...... or just drop him a note to send your good wishes. http://www.vibikers.com/forum/index.php?topic=2865.0

The t shirts are here, the patches are here, got plenty of door prizes on hand, with more coming with members, the food for Saturday evening meal is ordered, Shane's Rib Shack, is catering this event, on the menu is Pulled Pork, BBQ Chicken, Brunswick Stew, Green Beans, bread, Peach Cobbler, Sweet Tea, Unsweet Tea, and Lemonade. Cant wait to sink my teeth into this meal, be especially good since we dont have to do the cooking. Now on another note, if you want adult beverages, you will have to bring your own as Vogel is in a dry county. Looking forward to seeing new and old faces alike, just hope the weather co-operates with us.

I have an 89 Venture, and replaced the stator last year. I must admit this stator never indicated as high a charging as the old one did. However, these guages are not noted for being really accurate. However, how is it possible to have the voltmeter indicate less than or equal to 12 volts, for 40 km. I shut the bike down for 1/2 hour. I had barely enough to turn bike over to start and then on return trip it indicates charging ie about 13.5 volts. I even had a short trip 0f 40 km one way, where it indicated 12 or less, and then gradually worked up to over 12 volts after about 30 km. I note that if I put on running lights (2x35 watt) they really knock it down...but for all the above the only electrical items were Cb, radio and cruise control. I thought that the stator either worked or didn't, battery the same. So I am thinking poor conection somewhere (note I did remove conectors when installing new stator and directly soldered), or is it possible the regulator can do this intermittent thing? I am lost on this one. Perhaps some of the electrical gurus have ideas? Thanks.
