While removing my tank.. The gas hose to the petcock was very stubborn - stuck on the nipple good.. After much work I finally got it to start twisting so I could try to slide it off the nipple.. Well it was the actual brass nipple that was turning and came right out of the petcock! Can this be shoved back in and it won't leak or do I now need a new petcock? Anyone have this problem before? I finally managed to get it out of the end of the hose.. not sure if tapping it back in the petcock.. maybe a little JB Weld would work? Thanks

For those of you using or contemplating using the Mr. Gasket #42S fuel pump, be advised that the design has been "improved". Formerly, the input and output nipples were threaded into the pump. That allowed us to insert right- and 45 degree-pieces between the pump and the nipple, allowing the Mr Gasket pump to work for us. The new design has a fixed output nipple, and a long one at that. Consequently, I do not believe that the Mr. Gasket fuel pump will be an acceptable replacement. I went to a different store, and they had one old style pump in front of three new pumps. I snarfed that up, just in case I ever need another.

Bought the bike used with 3000 km, it now has 36,000 kms and when I changed the rear gear oil I noticed the plug has a nipple on the end, and the nipple on my plug was coated in either grease (I hope) or gunk build up (hope not). Could it be grease? sure felt like it... Greasy fingers crossed!

Any tips on how to remove a stuck vacuum hose without damaging it? The rear vacuum hose (on the nipple to sync the carbs) is being really stubborn and doesn't want to come off. I tried rotating the hose on the nipple with a pair of pliers, which usually works to break hoses free, but the pliers started digging into the outside of the hose, and I don't want to damage the hose or put too much force and break off the nipple. I tried pushing it back (hard, which has also worked for me in the past on other vehicles) with a flat screwdriver levered on the fake cooling fins, but it just doesn't want to move. On larger hoses, like radiators, I can slide a thin object in and around the mating surfaces, but there's no room to do that here. I was thinking of trying to let wd40 penetrate for a while, but thought I'd throw it out here to see if there's a simple trick I'm missing. The vacuum cap came right off. Just the hose is being stubborn.

Okay, I did find the Flanders Bar installation on the Ventures web site. These instructions looked pretty good, but ?? No where in the instructions did it say what to do with nipple on the box housing the cruise control and throttle grip. Looked at the original handle bar and there was a hole for the nipple. So for those of you that swapped bars, did you drill a hole in the Flanders Bar or file off the nipple of the housing? I drilled the hole. Not done with the install, but will finish tomorrow.

O K Carb guys when did Yamaha move the Ignition Vacum from the #1 carb I think it is and where did they move it to?? What else is different about thesse carbs. I got a set from E-Bay claimed they were 83 but no vacum line nipple on this one. Again without a nipple is it useless?? (couldn't resist) Useless for my 83 I mean..

O K Carb experts. When did Yamaha move the vacum line from the #1 carb and where did they move it? I got a set from E-Bay claimed they were 83 and no nipple to hook up vacum line. With out a nipple are they useless ( couldn't resist) What else is different on them? They looked the same didn't really check that close when I got them.
