Is this do able or am I a brick shy of a full load? Any suggestions would be appreciated. My son completes boot camp in late june. I would like to attend the ceremony. I have limited time off from work. Looking at riding there and back 3 days each way, 800 first day MN to CO, 900 second day CO to Nevada, 500 miles 3rd day Nevada to San Diego. I have done a couple back to back 750 mile days in the past so the length of time on the bike doesn't worry me, more the terrain (desert and mountains) and a strategy if something fails on the bike so far from home. The bike has 80,000 miles on it, and is in good running shape.

I can hardly believe this story . I have ridden out to the Shoe Tree twice over the past couple of years. It was such a fun and unique site to see. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2420572&id=17809521&l=bb6cce3228 ____________________________ Updated: Jan 05, 2011 12:34 PM MST ...Well known 'shoe tree' destroyed FALLON, NV (CBS) - Authorities are investigating who cut down the historic "shoe tree" in Nevada. The tree is located about 50 miles east of Fallon, NV, and is believed to be decades old. "On New Year's Eve, some patrons came in here and they said, ‘Did you notice the shoe tree got chopped down?' and everybody is in disbelief," said Greg Del Pepozzo, owner of a local store. "We went and looked out the window and it's not there anymore." Churchill County Sheriff Ben Trotter said it did not happen on private property and may not be a crime, but they are looking into whether it was vandalism. The Nevada Tourism Commission said the tree got its name after an argument between newlyweds, during which one tossed the others shoes in the tree. When they reconciled, the other reciprocated, and people have thrown shoes into the tree ever since. A memorial where the tree was located is planned for 2:30 p.m. Feb. 13.

Howdy Back here in Northern Nevada after a great ride of 4,200 miles and everything went smooth. The Butler seat was incredible as was the new Barons. We had three other riders to Guaymas and two other joined us in Loreto onto La Paz across the Ferry back to Tucson. Camped on the beach where we could and ate plenty of seafood and stayed at 30% occupied 4-5 star hotel for almost nothing. Weather was great except for winds down on the East Cape, In Mexico cruiser bikes are a thing of immense curiosity and envy. The RSTD with a Kuryaykn Gran Tailergater is the way to go. My friend BWM KT bike had electrical problem but the Mexican in a little village bypass the fusing and it ran great. Great to be in snow capped Nevada just in time for Deer and Antelope tag. Next time gotta figure away to strap on my Gibson 12 string for beach fires and Anejo Max

Anyone know what the fuel prices are like on I80 thru Nevada?? I've decided to cage it to my Grandson's wedding in Id. in two weeks and wonder whether it would be better to wait and tank up in Nevada or go ahead and top the tank off here in Sacramento????? Locally a gallon of reg. goes for $4.50. Also, do they require ethanol in Nevada fuel?? Ya can tell I haven't been up there in a while...

Some of the members here know that my Aunt Vikki was in a motorcycle accident back in April in Reno, Nevada where She lived. She was riding Her HD Heritage when she was hit by a tire that came across the center devider on the freeway. She passed away while I was in Ft. Collins from her injuries. She was a remarkable woman, She gave me my first motorcycle ride 45 yrs ago and I was hooked. She was 75 when She passed and had been riding for over 50 yrs. She was the first woman in Nevada to get a motorcycle license. She was a member of the Blue Knights in Reno and was a member of the Reno Ramblers M.C. She had many friends in the Motorcycle community in Reno, the state of Nevada and the State of California. Today they had her service at Sparks Marina. I wasnt able to attend but my Mom did. She said there were over 2000 people there and Hundreds of Motorcycle's if not over a 1000. She carried a metal flask on Her bike with water where ever She went. They took the flask and filled it with Her ashes and after the service today they took Her for a final Ride. Wish I could of went for that final ride with you. I will miss seeing you riding that purple electra glide with the white seat. But dont worry we will ride together again one day. Love Ya Dooder
